The staff members were very nice & most seemed to speak English. Husband and I took a tour of the entire place but we ended up staying in the very bottom whiskey room. Theres a very long table for about 12 people, great for a large party group like a bachelor party. Another section has bigger chairs & more privacy. We like bourbon and all of that was located on one corner with a smaller table, perfect for us. Scotch and other types are on the other side of room. It was a lot more quiet and less crowded in this area and that's what we liked. I really liked the feeling of being underground in caves. This place is a must when in Paris!

Then there's a tasting room in the back where the rare and expensive whisky is. So, golden promise is owned by the same people who own la maison du whisky. That shop(s) are the best whisky shops in Paris. They sell other spriits but specialize in whisky. The bar is downstairs and you walk into the first bar, they ask if you want to sit there or go to the tasting room. Me being the whisky connoisseur I asked to see the gasting room. The room looks like a underground wine cellar. There are actually 2 rooms. Both rooms the walls are lined with rare and old whisky from everywhere. Discontinued Japanese whisky that is no longer being made to old macallan and other rare scotch. These are all available by the pour and priced fairly for the rarity. I had to resist temptation to not get completely drunk. I tried a few different ones. All were excellent. Salvatore was very knowledgeable and we talked whisky for a good 2 hours while I sipped on whisky. If I lived close to this bar I would come every week and drink. I will for sure be back next time I'm in Paris. Highly recommended for whisky. Cocktails also inventive and tasty.

The cocktails are very fun, and they even have a few beers here if that's your thing. The servers speak fluent English, and it is popular with foreigners, but it's not a tourist trap by any means.

So the little red door has a cute red door but the bouncer lets you in through another door (novelty observed haha). The man takes your jacket and umbrella (what a gentleman!) and sat us on the second floor. While the space between the couch and the seats were rather small, we were able to manage. I got the permaculture and resilience. The resilience is a club favorite and my favorite too! The way the sorghum, pineapple sage (syrup), pasquet cognac, and savanna rum all tied together was a blessing. I was going to get a third but I was tipsy by my second drink. My first drink was the permaculture and while I was considered it would be strong, it didn't seem strong to me. I love clarified dairy in alcohol so this was a win in my book. It consists of chestnut, butter, wakaze umeshu, avallen Calvados. The bar let's you stay for an hour but if you sit elsewhere, you can stay as long as you want. 5 stars and I hope to come back someday!

It's a wood paneled intimate bar with limited seating, and it's easy to pretend that Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald are among the customers there too. The bar exudes an old world charm with oak paneled walls adorned with vintage Hemingway photos and memorabilia. They had an impressive lineup of signature cocktails, but in a rare flash of memory from English Lit 101, I felt compelled to channel Hemingway's Jake Barnes in The Sun Also Rises, and chose Champagne instead. As expected the service was flawless. Immediately upon being seated, a young lady brought us olives and mix nuts in a divided dish. The waiter soon followed to take our initial order. Pro tip- They open at 5 pm so get there 10-15 minutes before to stand in line. We got there at 4:45 and there were several people ahead of us. It's a small intimate bar that only seats about 20 something people and it filled up within minutes after we were seated. We saw multiple people getting turned away and when we left, there was a long line at the door. Cheers!!
