My son went in a few weeks ago for his hair and beard. He paid $35 + $5 for tip. I still had to clean up his beard because a lot of strays were left. He still made another appt here yesterday despite the last visit. When he came home, I saw his line and it was a mess. I could not believe they let him out the door like that. AND my son paid tip for that?! We love supporting local and I try to always buy or get service from Compton businesses to support my community. Mixed feelings about this place. I used to love bringing my son here. Website says $25 for kids under 18. Everyone that has cut my son's hair charged him $25 and I always tip $10, always. This last time he got his haircut from the owner I believe and he charged him $35, why? All my son needs is taper the sides and a line up that's it. And I still tipped him $10. The time before that he got his haircut by the Hispanic dude. First time seeing him there and when we got home my son had bumps all over the back of his head‍. read more

If you're a barber or front desk , teach them to answer the phone with respect. They majority of the time give good service , BUT did I catch them on a bad day ? Regardless the customer service was OUT THE DOOR. You never speak to a customer that way especially when the customer is communicating about ( calling to explain what's going on ) the situation , let's learn to have conversation with professionalism. I wouldn't want somebody who doesn't know how to talk to another human being to cut my hair , just imagine how they'd react if they mess up on your Hair , OH THE CUSTOMER IS THE PROBLEM ? that's how they make you feel , customer is wrong for trying to communicate. Owner wants me to provide more details : Husband called on the phone 30 min before his appointment to let them know that he would be running about 10 min late to his appointment. Which they know how that works they've had barbers running late and didn't advice the customer until they arrived , so for them to not communicate that , unprofessional but when my husband called to reach out and tell them he would be 10 min late for a haircut 30 min prior to the haircut , the attitude the owner gave over the phone was outrageous and to hang up without allowing my husband to even say what he had to say . I heard it , my husband heard it , my kids heard it. Is that professional? No. He comes here to get his hair done all the time , but the owner seemed to be having a bad day today , we need to learn to talk to our customers to keep our customers , we get you have plenty of them and you don't care for losing 1 but we all deserve respect. read more

This review is for Tony: If I could leave zero stars I would. Where do I even start! I scheduled an appointment for 3:30pm today. A hour or so before my son's appointment, Tony called to reschedule for 3pm. When I arrived, he looked at my son and started shaking his head and said YIKES. The nerve of this imbecile! I said, Yikes? What does that mean?. He rudely responded, is this his first hair cut and will he sit still? I said, yes it's his first hair cut. Tony continues to shake his head and aggressively said I don't know if I can do it cus I have some where to be! I couldn't believe the audacity of what this vile and despicable human being was saying. He tainted a core memory for me and my son. Tony is uncouth. Lacks professionalism, ethics, and values. All which is needed to be a true man. BEWARE! If you are a woman coming solo to get their young son's hair cut, go somewhere else. I would not let him touch my son's hair with that kind of negative low down energy. Thankfully the woman barber next to him was able to cut his hair. My husband brought our boys here two weeks ago and we went back this past weekend and it was pleasant and smooth as the first time. I honestly did not know how to write this because I never want to put down are black barbershops or business. I think this shop is a bit too high for the city it's in and the location; you're in the heart of the CPT Not the 90210 or Santa Monica. The folks in the shop & The shop concept is beautiful It's what we want to see in Compton eventually; but $45 for a lineup and Shave And I am not talking about what shaving cream the straight razor and hot towel Basic electric razor I didn't even get a haircut that's $15 hands down at any other shop. A haircut is $25 -27 at most shops in the area with a beard it's $30 look I'm not saying I didn't look good I just think your a bit high for Compton is all. Will I be back time will tell. read more

I came in yesterday and requested a drop top fade with only an inch if hair cut off the top. My barber Nate didn't know how to do a drop top so instead of saying he cant do it he completely ruined my hair. I didn't get a drop top at all and he cut almost all of my hair when that's not what i wanted. I had to go home and basically shave off all my hair because it looked terrible. Hands down the worst barber shop i've been to. Would give 0 stars if possible. If you do decide to come here don't go to Nate he'll mess up your hair and all you get is a pathetic sorry. read more

I walked into Barberizm and was immediately pleased aesthetically!!! After speaking with Donald, the owner, I felt even more pride for my city! Barberizm is a high-end shoppe with Master Barbers. I went to the Grand Opening and yes it was Grand. Tradition is so important to me. It's not just the cut, but the camaraderie that exists with the barbers and customers. You go for the cut or trim but just exciting is the interaction of everyone. Donald is a barber of the Stars but everyone is treated like a Star. I would never have anyone else cut my hair. Absolutely No customer service, very dry, if it wasn't for the young man who cleans & makes the appointment I would of walked out. They don't speak or introduce themselves. The barber didn't ask the parent what type of haircut and when he was done didn't say how much, had to ask the price While he stayed on his phone the whole time. This barbershop is my favorite of all babershop I've ever stepped foot in out here in Los Angeles. After a couple of visits it become like home immediately, I was comfortable. Don and Keenen. Are great people to conversate while you there. Now my son's love and enjoy cooking here as well bc is kid and teen friendly. He has a set up where they actually want to hang out after the hair cut.
