I had an old friend take me to this barber location 13 years ago, and I've been back every month since (except for one year I was working remotely). Several weeks ago I came in for a haircut and was shocked to see a sign on the door that they were remodeling under new management. Of course I had to come back and check it out, and I'm glad I did. They did a great job with the remodel, it's a very different vibe with the same friendly faces. Jessi did a great job as always, she's been cutting my hair 8 years and I'm really glad the old staff is still there. One of the new owners, Kathy, took the time to stop and check in with everyone there. It's that little personal touch that keeps me coming back here. If you're an old customer of Family Barber and on the fence about coming back, give it a shot. A couple changes include no more listening to whatever is on tv, there are music speakers that play not too loud and not too soft. There's a new electronic check in system, and I completely spaced today and accidentally put in my real phone number instead of the usual fake one I always use, I think it will be tied to some reward points in the future. New tvs, a big one angled for people waiting, and a couple smaller tvs with some calming slideshows if your eyes get tired of wandering around all the improvements. As much as the staff is friendly and seemed overall nice, I think the best words to summarize my experience with this establishment are "misleading" and "inconvenient." First, this is a cash only establishment. It does not state that on the promotional flyer that got mailed to homes in the area or on the door or anywhere in the salon. One could argue that you can infer that because of the presence of an ATM next to the checkout desk, but that's a stretch. Most businesses nowadays offer non contact payment or credit card. If the cost of offering a credit card service to customers is an issue, then I would suggest letting patrons know that they may pay by credit card, but they will incur a credit card fee. Second, the site allows you to book your appointment online. I considered that a huge plus. Except I learned that there is no value to booking your appointment because when I arrived, I waited more than 15 minutes to be seated. I also arrived 5 minutes early, so that's 20 minutes of my time where I had to wait when my appointment was supposedly confirmed by the salon. Rather, I had to wait on those who "walked in" before my appointment time. My suggestion to this salon is if you want to continue to allow patrons to book their appointments online, please honor them in a timely manner. If you want to make room for walk ins, it is possible to adjust the available appointment slot times without inconveniencing a patron who went through the effort to book an appointment online and ultimately was let down. Thirdly, if you check out the "gallery" page on their site, all of those pictures are borrowed/stock photos. I had the expectation that those pictures were to showcase previous work that the staff had done like other salon's have done, but they are not. Rather, it's somebody else's work. Fourth, once you enter, you have to "check in" either at the iPad in the middle of the salon (but not conspicuous to you because it's off to the side) or at the checkout desk in the back. That was not immediately obvious to anyone because signage was lacking, so the person at the front desk had to chase the person who just entered the door every, single, time to get that person to check in. Fifth, there is a row of chairs for patrons to wait for their turn. There are three TVs, presumably, to entertain folks while they wait, but, wait, they were pointing in the opposite direction. So to watch TV, you had to watch through the reflection of the mirrors and perhaps make awkward eye contact with the person who is getting his or her hair cut. One thing that was slightly uncomfortable for me while I waited is during that time, I had to listen to the person at the front desk get hit on by a patron and staff members commenting about other patrons in their presence. While not everyone will be able to understand the language, one day, someone will. As for the finished product, the haircut was decent. However, I noticed that there were many noticeably stray cut hairs left behind on the neck and around the ears, despite their attempt to prevent that. I compare this experience to my last one at a hair salon which was at Elite Barber, and in all the above categories, Elite Barber did better, and so unfortunately, I think I will go there next time even though it is more costly. read more

Grabbed a haircut here because it was conveniently close to me and I'm not too specific about my haircuts but I was very happy with the results and service I received. Kathy did an excellent job of carefully trimming my hair and she's very gentle and considerate. Yesterday was my first time visiting Barber Craftmanship. I'm pleasantly impressed with the shop's eye-soothing decoration, cleanliness, and welcoming ambience. The staff's promptness and friendliness immediately made me feel at home. The reason I'm switching to this barber shop because Hannah, my barber for the past 17 years, is now working there. I've been following her through all the shops that she's worked. Hannah listens to clients' requests and performs the work in such a way that final products are haircuts that look great. She communicates well and takes care of her clients' hair in an attentive and professional manner, and never rushes through haircuts, even when the shop is busy. Great spot for good haircuts. The staff is very friendly and good at listening to what you actually want, rather than just looking at your basic look and assuming the rest. As someone who has my hair different lengths in the summer and winter that is especially important to me, and actually quite rare amongst a lot of barber shops. I have recently been going to see Terry, who is great at dealing with my somewhat hard to cut hair. She listens very well and is extremely accommodating to strange requests. My wife has been giving me DIY "covid cuts" for the past 3 1/2 years and I decided it's finally time to get back out for a professional haircut. I was lucky enough to randomly walk into Barber Craftsmanship where I was warmly greeted and immediately seated by Jessi. Jessi gave me one of the best haircuts I can remember getting. She's skillful, meticulous and very pleasant. She took her time to give me a beautiful cut and then followed it up with a warm, moist towel and a wonderful neck massage.
