Corn muffin and smoked sausages with two kinds of barbecue sauce
Frances M.

The ribs were sold out before I got there, but the smoked sausages were a good consolation prize. He gave me two different kinds of barbecue sauce with them, one a little spicier than the other. I can't choose between them which is better. They were both so good. The corn muffin was pretty standard, but the top had a nice extra sweetness to it. I took the food home because it was about 20 minutes until closing and he had already cleaned up and put the tables up. It's a pretty small seating area anyway, and I didn't mind taking my food home. The sausages were great, but I dream of a day when I can get there early enough to try the ribs!

Pulled pork sandwich

An absolute banger hidden in the small town of Port Angeles. Run by the nicest guy Tom, he smokes all of his meats in the back of the shop. The menu is small but mighty. Succulent ribs, pulled pork sandwiches piled high. This spot is a barbecue delight. To make it even better, it's actually reasonably priced, especially for what you get. My hats off to Tom for his hard work and great product.

1/2 rack baby back ribs and corn muffins.

One man show! Be patient, he really cares about the quality product he serves; it's worth the wait! The baby back ribs had a rich smoky flavor and the mild bbq sauce was perfect. The golden brown corn muffins were delicious. My wife had the chili and she loved it. Highly recommended and I will be back the next time I am in town!! :)

And they have grape some in the bottle, who can top that?

Great meat. Cooked the way I like it, and wonderful flavor. Nice little personal operation.

The owner and main cook is a very solid guy, but most importantly cooks damn good barbecue. Recommend trying out if you are in port Angeles

I quickly identified this as the most likely place in Port Angeles to sate our hunger and thirst! We were not disappointed!. The Main Street is humble but all-American. We arrived at 5:30 and we were quickly seated in a comfortable, tall banquette. Our server was Miranda and she was a total pro. She was knowledgeable, efficient, perky and knew her business like the pro she is. The menu is real deal Gastro-pub, there are plenty of craft cocktails to satisfy any taste. The double vodka rocks was $12, the special was any burger for $15. I had the Mrs Newton burger with Brie and raspberry jam with smashed patties. SO GOOD! The chowder was excellent the tataki small plate was outstanding! We got the chocolate thing for dessert. We had a great evening!

The burgers were too greasy and mine was way undercooked for what I asked for (medium). My stomach didn't feel great after eating it. The fries were decent, but are a separate add on to the burger. Friend said Fish and chips were standard fare, but the chowder was a little bit on the thin side. The food is definitely pricey, but portions are decent.

Fried Brussels Sprouts - Fried to perfection. Brussels sprouts are ubiquitous these days, known for…read moretheir hearty health benefits and delicious taste, but this restaurant truly did them right. They were perfectly fried with a crunchy exterior, all heightened by a lovely drizzle of honey. 5/5 Fried Chicken Sandwich - This sandwich was a monstrosity! If I were Sasquatch, I'd still be full after eating this. They practically put two fillets into one sandwich. The breading was flavorful, and the chicken was incredibly juicy and tender. I definitely appreciated the generous portion size. 4/5 Ahi Tuna - Deliciously fresh and simple. The tuna was lightly seared and served sashimi-style with a perfect rare interior. Being so close to the ocean makes you appreciate how fresh seafood can taste, and they deliver that here. It's lightly dressed with soy sauce and citrus to bring out the natural flavor of the fish. 5/5 Service & Atmosphere - The service was great, and we were seated quickly. Our waiter knew the daily specials by heart; he was quick yet succinct in explaining what the restaurant specializes in. I really enjoyed this place!

The bartenders are true mixologist and even have non/ alcoholic cocktails and 25 specialty bitters (dry jan anyone?) I enjoy all their appetizers every thing from, seared ahi tuna, bacon wrapped dates (you get 4 per order), crispy brussel sprouts are crack, they are so good. (balsamic vinegar goodness) Menu is somewhat small but they have a great Chicken sandwich that is perfection in crunch, best batter Ive had (since Oak in Seattle. I think it originally was the sister to Spruce but changed owners.?) The other star dish is pork schnitzel, tasty all around and I love the capers, the red cabbage side, it's not too big, so you can finish the meal. (which is perfect as I don't think it would carry well to reheat due to gravy) I can't forget to compliment the service. Our waiter checked on us often, gave suggestions when we asked, water always was refilled which we appreciated so much. Service is lost nowadays but not here! So come here for a small plate and specialty cocktails or craft beer night or a full meal. The only underwhelming item was the side of fries that come with the sandwich was meh, but they do have decorated ones you can order as side that might be more tasty.

We actually drove past it several times on our trip. On the first night, there was a line of cars out all the way down 101. We decided to go for lunch instead since we didn't want to wait. This was a bit after noon and the line was way more manageable. Double Cheeseburger ($7.48) - They start with a fluffy sesame bun, then pile on the sauces (mayo, mustard, ketchup), diced onion, pickles, shredded lettuce, and finally two burger patties with cheese. The toppings are all on the bottom, which make the first flavor to hit the tongue a sweet, salty, sour, and creamy punch. There is a decent amount of lettuce and onion and only three small pickle chips that help add some additional crunch and acidity, but there aren't really enough to cover every bite. The burger patties are solid fast food/drive-in type patties. They have a decent char taste and are easy to eat, although there's not really any char texture, and instead the burgers are the same texture throughout. Overall, a good burger, as expected of this type of establishment. (4/5) Cheddar Cheese Curds ($3.95) - These are decent curds. They are fried to a good crisp. They're salty, cheesy, and have a good cheese curd chew. The breading has small rocky pieces of raised breading embedded throughout. Pretty standard fried curds. Unfortunately they don't really give a lot for the price - only like 10 or so curds. (4/5) Milkshake, Large, Huckleberry ($4.95) - This milkshake has nice smooth consistency throughout. There aren't any thicker or thinner spots in particular, so it's a nice drink from start to finish. Very drinkable, not horribly oversweet, and with a good huckleberry flavor. I mean, it's a milkshake. Even an average milkshake is good! (4/5) Frugals is a pretty typical drive through/in burger place. They don't knock anything out of the park, but serve good classic burgers, milkshakes, and sides.

It's pricey here but eh, what isn't over in this area? Also, at 11.3 ABV, maybe don't have three. The clam chowder is the best I've had yet, and that tops even where I'm spending my summer. Sorry not sorry. Ordered the crab cake platter with wasabi aioli as well and it did not disappoint. Reminds me of grand-moms house. So good! Let's talk about service. Not one, but two servers taking care of lil ole me. Both so friendly. They allowed me to enjoy my beer and when I said I wanted to take my time, they honored that without rushing food or service. The ambiance is pretty casual, family friendly, and right on "the strip" so you can walk off those delicious calories you indulged in. I will be back and will be bringing a crew with me next time. Whenever I travel to coastal cities, I'm always on the lookout for good fish tacos, and these were definitely delicious. Since they were about $25 for two tacos, it was definitely a "one and done" for me. Seafood Basket: 4/5 This is your typical fried seafood basket, including halibut, cod, and shrimp. All the seafood was fresh. I enjoyed the shrimp; they were bouncy, but not rubbery like frozen shrimp. The cod was flaky and plump. The halibut was the same cut as the fish tacos--denser and packed with flavor. I really liked this dish, but after a couple of bites, the heavy fried food definitely got to me. It'd be better if they served this with a side of coleslaw or vegetables to balance out the entire meal.
