Driving down the 20, my party and I were looking for a diner or something similar to eat. We yelped something nearby which turned out not to be there but fortunately discovered Barabouf in the process. It turned out to be a little cafe/bistro serving what seemed to be traditional French food. We were met by a lovely and charming hostess. Although I can speak and read French, the rest of my group do not so we probably looked like fish out of water and so our hostess politely asked if she needed to translate. She was very accommodating and made some helpful suggestions. A couple of us started with some asparagus and bacon soup. It was unreal how good the soup was. This was just the start of a great meal. We all ended up having the daily lunch special which was veal meatballs and sauce served with salad and rice. The meat was super lean and flavorful. Mixed with the sauce and topped with parmesan rounded the balls out nicely. Everything about our meal tasted fresh and felt like it was made with care, right down to the bread and salad dressing. Upon our departure we were informed that this place had only been open 9 days. Tucked away just off the highway in Beloeil we found a little gem. I hope this place does well. With food this good they should. read more
