Long post. Hang in there. Starts off tragic and has a happy ending.
Food was amazing. Simply incredible. The zucchini was so good my husband scarfed it down without any hesitation. My burger was one of the best I ever had.
The reason for my 2-star review was because the service from our waiter was awful. He stopped by to take our order and never again. He seemed totally focused on the table of girls next to us. He walked by our table multiple times and never refilled our water, asked about our food or even cleared a single plate. The hostess was the only one that provided any service.
We wanted to have drinks after dinner and we ended up leaving cause we were so tired of waiting for him to come by. With a baby sitter at home, we could not wait there all night. I had to track him down for the check. We tipped the hostess more than the server because she had basically done more of the work. I normally tip at least 20% for acceptable service, doesn't even have to be excellent.
I took my husband here for his birthday dinner as a surprise and despite how delicious the food was, the poor service totally put a damper on the evening since we didn't get to finish it with the yummy cocktails I had heard people rave about.
The bar was too crowded to order there and we didn't want to spend any more money at the establishment.
Update***
I reached out to the restaurant about our poor experience and they responded so sincerely that we are willing to give the restaurant another chance. It seems out experience was not born from the attitudes of the management of the restaurant because they seem to take much pride in their establishment and their customer feedback. I will update after we have been able to go again.
***Update 2***
We went back last night. 9/30/16
We were immediately greeted by John at the bar. We put our name on the wait list but then ended up sitting at the bar and staying there. We were so entertained watching him make so many fancy drinks.
The food was wonderful again. I had the lamb sausage and my husband had the steak. We stayed for drinks this time and I had the False Hour, a holiday twist on a whisky sour. It was incredible. Hubs had a Jack Rose. They even make their grenadine in-house! Anyways, the service was stellar this time and totally met the expectations I had going in the first time. I am SO glad that they invited us back and won us over because this place is amazing. We will definitely be back. Having a restaurant knock your socks off after our initial disappointment is really
Impressive. John, the bartender, was fantastic! Friendly, professional, observant, and knew his stuff. We talked about how much fun we had the whole way home. We are calling that a birthday dinner win for both of us. Thanks Bar Virgile and Daniel, the operator of the restaurant, for making us feel valued, welcome and heard. We can't wait to go back!...and will bring friends. :-) read more
