Where do I begin! This very cool but small bar was the perfect place for an impromptu date night. We were seated downstairs in the "annex" bar which has a fun tiki bar vibe. We sat at the bar and had the pleasure of witnessing Casey's superb skills. My husband ordered a hurricane which was delightful but my drink was the star of the evening, The Saturn! which I am now referring to as Hawaii in a glass. Several years ago I had a drink at the Ritz in Kapalua that has been seared in my taste bud memory, The Saturn is this drink's party girl sister and I am here for it!!! We ordered a double burger and the fish and chips and both were finger licking good. The burger was a smash burger but also still juicy, the fish and chips were made with fresh cod and was so juicy and flakey. And let's not sleep on the fries, sure some may say fries are fries, right - wrong! These fries were perfectly salted with the right balance of fluffy center and crispy outer mixed with the harissa aioli that came with the fish. CHEF'S KISS!

Great spot for a quick bite if you're taking in a show at the DPAC. Close by and an easy walk. The Blackened Salmon over brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes was most excellent. The fish and chips came with 2 pieces of fish. One piece was great, the other was greasy. Service is a little slow when they're busy, but the staff is very friendly. I would return.

It's been a while, and I have forgotten how cool this place could be based on the creative cocktails combined with great food options however, this visit was negatively impacted by the Bartender who chose to ignore me at my section of the bar as a solo patron and entertain his regulars at the other end of the bar. As I paid for my appetizer I mentioned to him the importance of working the entire bar to which he replied I know that, but based on this experience, clearly, he does not know that, and failed to provide the same level of service. Fingers crossed for a better experience in the future, and I can actually order more than an appetizer to enjoy the vibe that this cool space provides

Had an amazing experience sitting at the bar. The bartenders were super nice, and the atmosphere was perfect for a small bar. I've heard a lot about the burgers, and I would say it lived up to the hype.

Amazing ambiance, it gives me cozy prohibition vibes that I could not get enough of! Service was fast and effective with them allowing us to get drinks while we wait for our table. Food: Charcuterie: 8.6/10 Salmon: 9/10

I have been passing by this spot for years and finally my husband recommended we dropped in. It was the best decision!! We sat at the downstairs bar. Decor reminds me of Gilligan Island but a very nice vibe! Drinks and Single Burger was on point! Definitely a spot we will go back but thumbs down no pickles for burgers. Excellent service from Artson!

Food and service were great!! We sat at the bar and were served promptly. The drinks were as delicious as the food. They had a wide variety to choose from on the menu.

You know a place is special when reviews from 4+ years ago talk about how good the burger is and you go in after all that time and also agree that this is the best burger you've had in North Carolina. This burger is FANTASTIC. Both me and my partner agreed on it being the best and we will be back very often after learning the kitchen closes at 9:45 pm. The mac and cheese was also super good. We got it without bacon and it was delicious. Good mac is hard to come by these days. Both our server and the bartenders were welcoming and friendly, and our food came out quick. The bar itself is really beautiful- decorated really nice, has a really cool ambience, nice seating and lighting, and fun. I can tell it gets busy on the weekends. Great for dates and nights out. We got two fun cocktails we saw chalkboard drawings of and loved it. I'm definitely a big fan of this place now.

Build your own sushi into a taco. If you've never had a hand-roll, it's like making a little taco with sushi filling. Wonderful flavors with notes of the wasabi, soy and furikake adding to the savory and spicy flavor of the dish. The Wok Broccolini with the chili garlic crisp was a wonderful kick to the slightly charred dish. The Ay papa were perfectly cooked potatoes with a white sauce with botanical notes of fresh vegetables. My favorite dish was the swordfish with puréed potatoes and a wonderful sauce adding to the grilled swordfish. Absolutely such a great entree to complete the meal. For dessert we had the capirotada and the puff pastry with two delicious ice creams. My absolute favorite was the Mexican puff pastry with the salted bourbon sauce. Wonderful restaurant and highly recommend for an enjoying evening.

The interior is decidedly upscale, and the heated outdoor patio is great as the weather has cooled. We ate outside on this trip. Reservations were honored to the moment, and we were seated promptly. Our server was funny and charming; they helped us navigate the menu and decide how much to order. We decided on the Pulled Beef Short Rib Wonton, Brussels Sprouts, Ahi Tuna, and Brown Butter Pot de Crème for dessert. Pulled Beef Short Rib Wonton: The wontons were perfect--5 pieces of crunchy, freshly fried wontons surrounding morsels of juicy, tender, and flavorful beef, adorned with a smear of pepper-basil jam to add some sweet texture. Each was served on a dollop of creamed chèvre to add some tartness and a sprinkle of cilantro, because you always need some cilantro. Brussels Sprouts: They were a great combo, broiled here with fresh mint. That's a unique Brussels sprout combo I'd never tried before, and while counterintuitive (to me, anyway), it was delicious. Ahi Tuna: Exquisitely prepared. Seared on the outside, encrusted with sesame seeds, and raw in the center. Top-quality tuna. It was adorned with fennel and pomegranate with swirls of avocado-coconut crema plus unagi sauce. Artfully plated and delicious. Brown Butter Pot de Crème: Shout out to the dessert! This is something I'd never tried before. It's a rich custard (think crème brûlée) but infused with brown butter and caramel to give it a dark brown color. It's sprinkled with black lava salt on top. Try it with those butter cookies. YUM! Definitely a cool place for a delicious experience. Go!

Juju (9th Street - Durham) Although we live in North…read moreRaleigh, we've been spending more time exploring Durham's restaurant scene. This time we tried Juju on 9th Street for lunch. Parking couldn't have been easier. We found a space right out front in the lot off 9th Street and walked straight in. It was a quiet Thursday afternoon, so we were seated immediately. The dining room has an elegant, relaxed feel, and with only a few other diners it made for a peaceful lunch. Lunch for two came to about $80 plus tax and tip, making this one of the more upscale lunches we've had recently. We ordered: * Crispy Brussels Sprouts * Shrimp Dumplings (6) * Mongolian Beef * Grilled Lemongrass Hanger Steak Salad * Unsweetened iced tea The Food The Crispy Brussels Sprouts were a great start. They were crisp on the outside without being overcooked, and the mint, peanuts, and pickled onions added both texture and freshness. It was also a large enough portion for leftovers. The Shrimp Dumplings were excellent. The flavor was outstanding, and the Thai chili oil, garlic, scallions, and sesame worked beautifully together. My only criticism was the portion size. At six small dumplings, they felt a little pricey for what you receive. The Mongolian Beef was probably the best value of the meal. The beef had a nice sear while remaining tender inside, and the portion was generous enough that we had leftovers for another meal. It had a nice overall flavor as well. The Grilled Lemongrass Hanger Steak Salad was good, but not quite at the same level. The steak had good flavor, but the cut itself was somewhat chewy. The accompanying rice was simply prepared and didn't add much to the dish. The flavors were enjoyable, although slightly sweeter than my wife prefers. Service Service was excellent. Our server took the time to walk us through each dish, explaining ingredients, spice levels, and preparation so we could choose items that fit our tastes. We especially appreciated her knowledge of the menu and her attentiveness throughout the meal, my iced tea was never empty. Overall Juju offers an attractive setting, excellent service, and several very well-executed dishes. Our biggest challenge was simply that much of the lunch menu leans toward spicier offerings than we typically enjoy. While we probably wouldn't return specifically for lunch, the dinner menu appears to offer a much wider variety of choices that fit our tastes. We'll likely be back to give dinner a try.

We made reservations for four and it was easy. Though when we reached it was not busy at all Unfortunately the two tapas that we wanted to order were not available may be because we were there around 7, but that is not a justification because our choices got very limited Cauliflower was mediocre with a large floret on the top of peanut/coconut sauce, and vegan crab cake was average with a peri peri kinda sauce at bottom, but corn was really good though I had to use my hands to eat because cob was attached. Goat was good with tomato based curry and have bits in the curry and pieces as well but the qty of pieces was too less, chicken wings are extremely good, they melt in your mouth..mocktails were yummy but I found the quantity very less with lot of ice in the glass... my husband enjoyed his old fashion tamarind drink with bourbon, though we could not taste the tanginess of tamarind... water was at room temperature ...overall a ok place for a relaxing dinner but not compelling enough for me to drive again 40 minutes. Place definitely felt overpriced for the amount of food ...

The igloo is decorated very modern and seemed cleaned. Would like to see them maybe Lysol it after guests especially with flu season but we used lots of hand sanitizer. We ordered our drinks and all 4 courses at the same time. Our salads came out before the drinks which is fine. We got the spicy ceaser salad and it was absolutely phenomenal. Obviously portions are small but I would appreciated a bit bigger salad. Next up after we finished our salads was the Mac and cheese (didn't have the squash ravioli) which is fine as we would have preferred the Mac and cheese vs ravioli. The Mac and cheese was SO good. Pipping hot in the middle. After that came our steaks. A but on the smaller side. Smaller then my palm but again, it's a 4 course so knew we'd be full. The steak was good. Almost like a post roast. The sauce they use was really good. Could have used another steak as it was small. They grabbed our plates and it took around 45 minutes to bring our TINY chocolate mousse out. We almost walked out waiting for it but thought it would be worth our wild. It was TWO bites. It was pretty comical. Server never checked on us after grabbing our steak plates to say sorry for the wait. Lucky for her, the 20% gratuity was built in. Overall we left happy (sorta annoyed) as you are paying for the vibe and the ambiance. Would recommend this for a special evening if you have patience and no plans afterwards. Luckily we just had to go up a flight of stairs to our room lol Our total came to $320 with 2 alcoholic drinks, one N/A and 3 steak up charges. Pretty steep. Would love to see it not a set menu and you order off one big menu what you want. I think it'd bring in more people. Next time we wouldn't do any drinks as they were $$$ and we didn't taste much liquor. A fun anniversary dinner with great views!
