My girlfriend and I had no issue in getting into this club on a busy Saturday night. If you're looking for loud and a good variety of music, I'd recommend Bar Morelos. The music is loud enough for a club, but there really is no main dance area. There's a few lounge sofas but those are reserved for bottle service and mainly everyone just danced around where they could which was cool to see. I really liked the interior of the bar/club and was really vibing along to the music. There was no cover charge. And one tip that I didn't think through upon bar hopping in Puerto Vallarta is if you do not have your ID with you, the bars will not take or charge your credit or debit card. This was a rule I encountered in a few other bars as well so don't be like me and take your ID or plenty of cash to pay. read more

Amazing gem in PV not on the malecon. Bar Morelos has the ambience, great selection of alcohol and the service was on point. They are open until 3 am weekdays and 5 am on the weekends. We were not pressured in any way to consume a specific amount. Management and the staff were very attentive. I would definitely come back and recommend this bar based on our experience. read more

I echo what people have already written: 1. Scammers: They make you buy things unnecessarily by acting sweet and naive. 2. Lack of customer service: Their staff is rude and don't know how to run a restaurant. 3. Tipping is a must: If you tip them less than what they expect, then they will create problems for you such as checking the signature on your ID with what you signed on the receipt. 4. I felt unsafe. I was with a group of friends, and we stopped in to Bar Morelos to do a little dancing for a friend's birthday. The bar was empty, but we thought we'd stay for a little while. Long story short, the bar staff intentionally brought out a more expensive bottle than we ordered in an elaborate display and then tried to force a second bottle on us. We tried to pay and leave, and they add $400 US to our bill for various undisclosed fees. When we asked about the fees, we didn't get a clear explanation, and additional staff came out and surrounded us, and we felt like we had to pay in order to safely leave. I found the best mango mojito in Puerto Vallrta in this bar and also the yummiest seafood empanada. Props for the food given that this is a busy bar. The quality of the food was not compromised on how busy this place can get. We got lucky that it was slow when we got it but quickly built up a crowd so be prepared. Would rate it 0 stars if I could. The table service guy lied about VIP service & said it would be $493 USD for a table & a bottle of Clase Azul. It ended up being $778. The service was decent while we were there, but they lied out of their teeth about the cost of what we were ordering, by saying it was $493 flat. No food. As far as ambiance goes- too many guys, & the couple girls that were there wererude. Manager was disrespectful & didn't listen at all when . Do not get a table here unless you want to be swindled. The atmosphere is pleasant and fun. The waiters force you to drink quickly so that you order more bottles. We even realized that they put a lot of alcohol in the drinks so that you get drunk quickly. At the end of the night, if you don't leave them what they want as a tip, they get angry and complain to you. Wow!! This Lounge was suggested by our waiter at Blue shrimp!! So glad we went! Walked inside this beautifully Vegas styled bar! With lights and chandeliers!! It was definitely a sight to see!!! But most importantly our server was the BOMB! I think his name was Ricardo!!! He went above and beyond for our group! Made sure our hookah was always lit! And the drinks were always re filled! We tried to dispute and had no recourse as we signed the credit card slip. Bar Morelos is the place to go if you're looking for more upscale club/lounge vibes. They have a fantastic sound system and for a smaller place had an impressive Vegas club setup - a whole wall of lightbulbs synced to music, giant disco balls, lasers, smoke cannons. We came on a Thursday and there was a live DJ spinning EDM and dance music which I absolutely loved - we ended up Shazam-ing a bunch of the songs to add to our playlist. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The drink prices are definitely higher by PV standards, though I think if you're stopping by for a few it's worth it to check out the space. My only complaint is that the mixed drinks have nearly no booze in them. I tried two different mezcal cocktails and they were just well garnished (albeit tasty) juice. I'd stick to beer or just mezcal/tequila if you want to get your money's worth. read more

Wow. I had no idea what we were in for when we went there. We thought it was just a bar and we went there for a drink and it turned out it was a very high end "ultra" lounge. It was a beautiful place to see and be seen. There a lot of nice leather couches where couples or groups hang out and there are tables peppered throughout. This is not like the other clubs in the neighborhood that are more like a disco/nightclub with large dance floors. This is a lot more upscale. We went there around 11:00 and they led us to a table upstairs and we thought it was kind of crummy because the place was pretty empty but it turned out to be an ideal spot. Within and hour the place was packed and filled mostly with locals. They played great music and we could see the screens and the entire club with all of it's excitement. One drink I had was amazing and the the second wasn't nearly as good. The first was a chocolate martini that was incredible tasting and looking. My husband took advantage of their incredibly extensive list of mezcal. They serve it in an impressive fashion on a wood plank with the shot of mezcal, a variety of fruit and a glass for the rinds of the fruit. Service was okay but there is room for improvement. They had food but we had eaten already and did not try any of it. Seattle doesn't even have a place this nice! read more

Cool 2-story Mezcal bar and lounge recommended to us by our cab driver on our first day here. This place gets crowded in the high season, but at 10pm on a rainy Saturday night during the low season, my husband and I were the only ones in there! We had never had mezcal, so we got a few recommendations from the bartender, who spoke very good English. He recommended El Cortijo Reposado con Gusano (gusano means worm-- there is literally a worm inside the bottle for flavor), which was smokey and quite smooth to drink. It was served with a couple limes and pineapple slices sprinkled with sal de gusano, which has chili and ground worms in it, so beware if you have an aversion to consuming worms.. Mezcal is usually drunk straight like this with this salt, but I asked for a cocktail because I don't like anything straight. I recommend the Aquetzalli, which has pineapple juice, lime juice and mint. It was a little tart, not too sweet, and still preserved the smokiness. The Mezcalteza has orange juice in it and is a little sweeter. This bar plays mostly American Top 40 music and electro jazz. read more

Don't go to this place. They gave my friends and I two rounds of shots and said it was paid for/on the house. When the bill came, we were surprised to see the rounds on the receipt. The waiter said that we had ordered the shots when nobody in our group did. He then started lying saying i was the one who ordered them because it was my friend's birthday (it was none of our birthdays lol) and then changed his story saying another waiter was responsible for the miscommunication, but didn't know where he was. When we asked for the manager, it was so clear that the manager was in on the scam as well pretending to be shocked that this miscommunication happened but refused to take the rounds off the bill. She even requested that we pay for 50% of one of the rounds. We finally became exhausted of arguing and told them we'd only pay for one round which they agreed to. Seeing as other peoples reviews have similar stories, this place is an absolute scam. read more

We are craft cocktail enthusiasts. We've traveled the world attending competitions and learning the art so we are tough customers when it comes to cocktails. The reviews looked promising for Bar Morelos. Sadly, they missed the mark....big time. The interior of the bar is beautiful. But that's about the only benefit of this bar. The staff is grossly untrained and unskilled. I asked about swapping mezcal for tequila in one of their drinks and no one knew if it was possible or a good flavor profile. Giant red flag. Took three people to sort it out. The staff largely ignored us. Another red flag. Did not see any bitters. Another red flag. The bartender added basil to my drink, which was a great flavor compliment, but didn't strain it so I kept getting big pieces of chewy basil in my mouth and it made for a bad mouth feel. One pro was the bartender did taste my drink before he served it to me, which is the right thing to do. However, he added more sugar to it after his first taste and didn't restate it after the additional sugar and the drink was way too sweet. This bar is trying hard to be something it's not. It's not a craft cocktail bar. There's no noticeable skill. A bunch of people with recipes does not make a true bartender or mixologist. The craft cocktail scene is just emerging in Puerto Vallarta. If you're looking for true craft drinks, head to Bar La Playa. read more

This place should have 5 stars. I went with a group of 12 to have dinner and drinks and everyone was so nice accommodating us. The food was excellent especially the Al Pastor pizza. The drinks were fresh and refreshing. When you first walk in you think it's a hookah lounge but they have a nice upstairs where you can dine and enjoy the good music. read more

The worst bar in Puerto Vallarta. First, the drinks weren't good at all and were very pricy. Second, the SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE. We all ordered drinks and my boyfriend asked for one vodka soda and they brought him two, and when he politely told them that he only asked for one, the waiter took his mask off and started yelling at us saying that we asked for two, which we did not, but he refused to take it back and walked away from us after yelling and arguing. Later, because of this horrible service (we did not enjoy a minute at that bar), my friend wanted to leave them 10% tip and the waiter(another one) said: "what is this, in the U.S. you guys tip 20%, those $5 wouldn't do anything to me" and started arguing and complaining to my friend who was trying to pay while being super rude and telling him that he MUST tip more. At the end, they requested his ID and took picture of both his ID and his credit card. PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE, it's not worth your money, it will ruin your night and horrible people work there. read more

This is by far the best bar I've been to in Puerto Vallarta! It is beautiful, there are dangling lights everywhere, mirrors, chandeliers and lots of comfortable couches to sit at. Its very classy. The people that go here are very nice too. I made some really friends here on my visit and am keeping in touch. The only thing that was lacking was the service, the workers here aren't that friendly and maybe a little under staffed as they sometimes ignore you for over 5 minutes. I plan on returning here on my next trip, so much fun! read more

I've worked in the restaurant industry for over 7 years and currently bartend at a fine dining restaurant in California and I've never had such bad service then at Morelos. I'm one of those guests who notices every detail so I know my bias but I'm also super understanding and rarely ever do a bad review. It was my birthday and I couldn't wait to leave as soon as possible after my experience! The atmosphere/decor was gorgeous and the gentlemen who greeted us (a group of 3) coming in were sweet but the moment we sat down and asked simple questions it was evident most of the staff had no clue what they were doing. Every drink question had to be checked with the bartender who looked like she was irritated by even being asked a question. Which isn't reasonable considering there are no ingredient descriptions below their cocktails. One of my friends ordered a Paloma and they questioned what kinda of tequila. Being we were in Mexico I was excited to be guided through what different kind of tequilas they had - my question for a list was responded with confusion so I replied that the bartenders choice of a reposado would be fine, (I was prepared to spend a lot of money being it was my birthday vacation) they said OK. I then asked for a gin gimlet and the craziness ensued. They still looked confused and proceed to talk amongst one another then the bartender. After a moment what seemed like a manager came over to re ask what we were ordering. He took the order in a rush while only three feet away the group of servers all were staring at us. I even tried to just show them my phone with a basic gimlet recipe: gin, lime, & simple syrup... they ignored me. The whole interaction made us feel uncomfortable as if we were asking for too much. We received the drinks, which missed the mark big time! We ordered some sort of cocktail shooters which were too sweet, and watery. The paloma was served with what looked like a blanco on the side which they was poured into the glass in front of us (not a reposado which would've had a gold hue from the barrels that they are aged in). And my gin cocktail was not a gimlet but rather something I think was on their menu that I previously said I wasn't interested in. It was essentially a gin slushy served up - flavorless. Be careful when you go to this establishment. Its on the backstreet of the malecon and not well lit. This last visit forced me to make this post. When I asked for my check to pay with credit card like I always do. The woman who takes payment wouldn't accept my signature so she personally declined payment. She ran it multiple times & my card cleared but she kept declining my signature. I showed her my photo i.d. & a 2nd i.d. but they refused to accept it. I am even bi-lingual but still they refused me. So instead I was escorted by 2 thug bouncers to an ATM to get cash. Just my luck the ATM rejected the draw. Before the thugs harmed me they asked for the cash I had in my pocket. My friend also used his credit card & it was approved but this lady wanted to reject his signature as well. Finally we talked some sense into her. How else can we pay when they refuse our cards. My advice is to go to this place at your own risk! No one should ever be treated this poorly. Now i have to keep a fraud watch on that card. Bottom line i'll never go again!! read more

Nice bar, great setting, very good service... This is a very classy, upbeat, hip bar... Not a lot of room to dance, its more of a lounge but the setup is great for groups and its also great place to spark up a conversation. I really like the seating arrangement, it creates an intimate but welcoming environment. One of the my favorite bars, its located right around the corner from Mandela right off of the Malecon, look for the large 'M' emblem. read more

A little odd with the doorman calling to see if you can come in but they don't discriminate at all, lots of men and women in there not dressed up, typical beach area wear! Just don't order any international drinks unless you wanna pay the price! Titos and soda was about $10 and that is even with the peso being what it is!
