We planned with a group of friends to meet here on Halloween as the past restaurant ZUMO . There was a little confusion because our group couldn't find "zumo" but it has turned into swell. Great food had a great wine selection. Ambience was very casual but upscale. Service was spot on. Everyone was very attentive. We definitely will be back. They also run an area on the beach also with some palapas to use. Great menu there too. We were told they don't charge for the Palapas on the beach. So there you go, definitely check it out next time you're there. read more

We went here a last time we were in PV and liked it so much that we had to go back this time, and it didn't disappoint. The service is great- friendly waiters that give you the right amount of space to enjoy the beach but still get you what you need. We didn't eat today but did have a few drinks, all of which were good and have me feeling a little sleepy now after all the sun. As for ambiance- well I'm not sure it gets any better than sitting under an umbrella in the sand watching the waves crash on the shore! read more

The best beach bar in PV. A 2 week trip means at least 4 days here for us. Service is top notch - on our most recent trip Gencito looked after us and he went above and beyond - always checking in and getting fresh drinks and food. I love their fresh made green juice - great any time. Great salsa, guacamole, and chips. Good wings, decent burgers, and tasty tacos. Swell was a great place to plop on the beach especially when it is a crazy hot day. So I was originally super confused on how this place works. Basically you go and tell them you want to get drinks or food and want to sit on the beach. I think they should lead you to some chairs. They don't really bother you to leave as long as you are ordering stuff here or there. My boyfriend and I spent a few hours on one of the beach chairs under the umbrella and it was a great way to enjoy the beach without being in the sweltering hot sun. We were able to read our books, put our feet in the sand, and get cocktails. The chairs and tables are pretty close together (but not SUPER close together) so it can feel a bit crowded. Furthermore, you do get accosted by locals selling crafts and other things constantly. However that seems to happen no matter where you are on the beach. The servers are good about being attentive if you need them though and leaving you alone if you are relaxing. They promptly bring you whatever you order. The prices are kind of expensive but like normal American prices. Honestly it's worth it for the shade! read more

For the past 3 years I have spent all of my beach time at Swell. Our recent trip (September 2020) consisted of 6 days in a row of the amazing food and service at Swell. The staff could not be any more authentic or accommodating. Speedy, Josue, Jose - all beyond compare. Everything anyone could need for a day at the beach is there for you in an instant. The ceviche is spectacular, as is the shrimp burrito. The prices are good and the drinks come quickly. Finally, there is no loud music here. It is possible to read, relax, chat with friends, and make new ones. Swell really is the definition of paradise. read more

One of the few free beach clubs on Playa los Muertos with full loungers. Bring your own towel or you can rent one for 30 pesos. Food was on the pricier end, but delicious. I spent an entire day here with 2 loungers - one in full sun, and one under umbrella cover. I was able to take a nap without being constantly bothered by someone checking up on me, but someone was always available when I needed them! I don't know if they have amenities as I walked up from the beach and picked a lounger up front without checking out their facilities inside. Would definitely come here again! read more

First, the good: My teenagers liked the chicken quesadillas, the cheese had a lot of flavor. The location is great for people watching, and the fries were crispy on one plate and just ok on another. The not so good: The steak tacos were meh...they had mayonnaise in them...not pleasant. The sangria tasted like grape juice. One out of four meals didn't come out. And we waited. And waited. Very good service. Very good food. However, the lounge chairs were needing some repair such that the back supports were all set in one low position not allowing one to sit straight up. Also front beach row lounge chairs were usually reserved. Then, those reservation people wouldn't arrive until 2pm. Additionally, I found the margaritas were over priced compared to similar sites. read more

This was our spot for lounging and being indulged during our recent stay in PV. The location is great with lots of regulars who have been going there for years and we met some great people. The food is good and fresh. The service is outstanding with your comfort always a priority. We were particularly pleased with our server Victor who has also taken care of us in the past. Fabulous beach bar and lounge area. I had never done anything like this but it worked out perfectly. My father in-law knew the place so we all went as a family. Basically all along the beach there are bars and places that setup chairs and umbrellas but they set the rules for what it takes to use them. At Swell there was no charge to start, but a minimum spending for the day of around $10 USD. Might be $15 normally but the exchange rate was strong. Anyway that's the minimum per person but you literally can stay all day, and we did, on multiple days! You can relax in the sand, swim in the ocean, and then chat with the wonderful staff to order very nice food and drinks. I don't remember what all we had but definitely the calimari, couple types of quesadillas, and even a basic hotdog and fries were all good. Beer and margaritas if you desire. We averaged under $80 each time for five of us in total for a good number of hours relaxing and eating. read more
