George's whole Fish

Once you hire a taxi and travel down a long road unpaved...over the crocodile refuge area...you will arrive at a parking lot on the backside of some beach hut restaurants run by families. They feature local fresh seafood specialties -large portions -some beverages and quite a view of the sea. There is a turtle sanctuary just down the beach-when the ride is low you can walk from some of the resorts. It's one of our must visits during our annual trip to PV!

Legit beachfront "restaurant". VERY "locals only" and about a 20-30 min drive from the hotel my boyfriend and I were staying at. We got sick of eating resort food every day and our can driver one day recommended this place. This is off the beaten path and ideal if you have your own car - we had to pay our cab driver to sit and wait for us to ensure we had a drive back. IS A PERK if you have basic Spanish comprehension and English was a struggle when ordering

We had been on a resort for a couple of days and started to get bored and tired of the food. We took a cab to the galleria and from there our driver took us to boca de tomate. We asked where we could get some seafood. Now this is exactly what we were talking about! The drive down once you get closer, is a little bit sketchy. If you end up on a bumpy dirt road, don't worry, you're heading the right way. The gator scene on the way was also pretty cool. We stopped to take pictures. Don't worry, they are gated off. Once we go there we parked and walked over to a large tent where we were seated right away. It was a Sunday afternoon so it was a little busy. They had a band playing as well. The food came out fairly quick. The whole experience was exactly what we expected... authentic and great! Worth the trip!

Food is delicious !!!!! Micheladas with Clamato are called Cielo Rojo.

This is the restaurant we ate at in the group of numerous restaurants

From the reviews, I wasn't aware that this a place that has multiple restaurants so it was hard to tell what actual restaurant was being reviewed. This review is for Eduardo's, which is the 2nd to the last one in the row of restaurants. The drive to the restaurant was interesting, it is about 3 miles off the main road and you travel on dusty roads. You will pass cows, chickens, a tree farm and a pond of wild crocodiles on your left side of the vehicle. There are warning signs and fences to keep the people from getting too close to the crocks. This is not a tourist trap, did not see another vacationer there, strictly a local joint for sure. When the taxi entered the restaurant area there was a person in font of each restaurant waving us in to try their restaurant. All restaurants are right on the beach and very secluded from pretty much everything. Our waitress didn't speak English so she flagged down another waiter to assist in taking our order, menus were in Spanish. We stumbled through the ordering and received the food that we hoped we had ordered. Dinner started with complimentary seafood broth soup, crackers, tortilla chips, salt and lime wedges. Our food order was all shrimp from my dining companions, with a mixture of breaded and fried, Diablo and sautéed. All the shrimp dishes were served with rice, a carrot slaw and cooked broccoli. I ordered the red snapper because that's pretty much what all the reviews raved about. The quality of food was very good and very fresh tasting. I wish I would have ordered the red snapper without BBQ sauce but it was still good and the sauce wasn't poured on and overpowering the dish. If you want to eat where the locals eat, come here and be adventurous. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Had lunch here with my family of 4. Great experience. Food was delicious. You get to choose your own red snapper.

If you're looking for that real Vallarta dining experience, you need to give this place a try. We asked a couple locals about this place, mostly our Uber drivers and they all recommended this place. It's on the beach, not fancy at all but you won't regret, because the food is amazing. There's is a couple spots to choose where you want to eat. We went to "El Chavo". There you get to pick your fresh red snapper and choose to get it fried or grilled. We paid around $60 for 2 buckets of beer (12 small pacificos in each) a plate of red snapper fish, a good portion of shrimp ceviche and a quesadilla plate with rice and beans. There were also mariachis going around if you'd like to pay for some music while you enjoy your meal.

Always a grillman, had to lend a hand!

If you have the cojones, you need to check this place out. It is sketch as all get out but so damn worth it. Just have some Imodium on hand, it's probably going to get some play after eating here. You want to be a gringo puss, stay handcuffed to your all-inclusive resort and continue eating your Americanized Azteca style "Mexican" food. You want what the locals eat and what our icons of yore raved about before Mexico got popular? Eat here. This place has the best barbecued red snapper and phenomenal pico de gallo.... I'm sure the guacamole would be awesome too but haven't tried that since there were only two of us having lunch. The host/bartender/waiter/chef had me pick out the fresh fish and help man the grill! The abuela was busy making all the sides, including the pico de gallo that will spoil you for all others.

On the distance, Puerto Valletta (Down Town area)
