We chit chatted with the other co-owner who told us he first opened a bar but then expanded into a restaurant. The interior is warm, shiny wood with black accents and has cozy feeling. We quickly had our drinks delivered and ordered an angus cheese burger and German pork schnitzel. Food came out quickly and was hot. Fries and a small salad were the sides. Everything was so tasty! It's a spot I would be thrilled to return to at a future date. What a pleasant surprise! The bar is quaint and attractive with amusing and antique signs tacked up in different languages. The locals pile up at the bar and converse with the bartender. Tourists (myself included) stumble in and orient themselves before finding a perch at one of the dining tables. The dining tables are worn wood tables with traditional decorative rugs (taffelkleeden), like you would see at your Dutch grandma's house. I'm not usually a beer drinker, but when in Amsterdam... So I enjoyed the Herfst Bok. To eat, I ordered the cheese tosti with a cup of vegetable soup. The soup had clearly been prepared that day with fresh ingredients.
