Duck confit

My wife and I really enjoyed dining at Bar Des Théatres. The duck confit was among the best we have had. Frederick, our server, recommended a wine akin to Pinot Noir that was superb and complemented the duck confit well. Moreover the escargot was wonderful. Service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is an easy walk from either the Champs-Élysées or the Eiffel Tower. In fact, we had one of our last meals in Paris at the Bar Des Théatres. We definitely will dine there again on our next visit to Paris.

Our first meal that we ate in Paris and so far our favorite after several days here in the city. The food was to die for and our server was very helpful and friendly. We told him it was our first time in Paris, and when he brought the bill he even explained how tipping works here. Definitely planning on going again before heading back home.

If I could only recommend one restaurant in Paris, this would be that place! I think this might be…read moreone of my favorite meals ever, not just on vacation. After a very long day in Disney Paris, my friends and I were starving and not looking to go far so we found this place right around the corner from where we were staying. The owner is this sweetheart who suggested we order three dishes each and then share everything. Three of us decided to share and one of the girls in the group decided to get three things for herself. We also paired the meal with a bottle of white and a bottle of rosé that completed our meal perfectly! What we ordered: - 2 scallop carpaccio - 2 mushroom risotto - 3 gnocchi - mini burger - stuffed peppers - white fish (don't remember the actual fish) ceviche - veggie quesadillas - mozzarella sticks Not one plate that was sent to us wasn't devoured. Personally, our favorites were the Gnocchi, soft and pillowy in the most AMAZING cream sauce, and scallop carpaccio, fresh scallops seasoned to perfection in a light acidic sauce. Even the dishes that I probably would never order in Paris like the mozzarella sticks, quesadilla and mini burger. We're also completely delicious. Actually the mozzarella sticks had the most insane, you can tell that these were homemade. Even with no room left in our stomach, we ordered dessert. We ordered two crème brûlée and two chocolate cakes to split and then a apple tart for the table. Crème brûlée was insane, a must order! When my friends left and I was in Paris by myself, I actually came back alone twice! When I went, it was around the Olympics, so the owner was so nice to come and sit with me and show me how to get cheap tickets online that I never would've been able to find myself. Such a sweet soul! The place is pretty small, they pack as many tables as they could in here. Make a reservation if you want to sit outside or come later in the night if you just want to walk in.

Loved this place and it's people! We went back Twice!…read more The Food & Drinks ------------------- On the second night we visited The Publisher, and even though we'd had already had a late lunch, we simply couldn't resist the smell of freshly made fish and chips being passed around the room. What's more, they tasted great! Thick cut cod steaks, breaded and fried served with hot crispy fries! I don't think I looked up from my plate until it was all gone. The other plates that I saw around the room looked just as appetizing as well. Oh and for us Americans: large serving sizes! Nothing petite about these plates! The Spot --------- We literally found this late night spot up the street after discovering that another establishment we'd planned on visiting was already closed. Off the beaten path The Publisher boasts cosy, intimate tables and nooks perfect for a drink with the fellas/girls, family or even that special someone. If you have a large enough group you may want to get there a little early. The Staff --------- We went back twice! Oh you want me to tell you more!? Hahaha! From the moment we walked in the door we were warmly greeted by Stephan (sorry if I got the name wrong) and invited to sit where ever there was an open table/spot. For us English-only speakers: Everyone we spoke with spoke fluent English, something that was a great relief to us given a previous experience that afternoon. You don't know what you want or is there something you have in mind that is not available? Stephan worked with various sniffs and samples to make sure everyone one had something they would enjoy. He spent about 10-15 mins with my friend sampling different whiskeys until they found something my friend really liked! Everyone was very personable. By the middle of the night it felt like we'd all been old friends. The jingle from the Cheers sitcom really comes to mind, "you wanna be where everybody knows your name " Parking ------- Yeah this is where it gets tricky as there's not a lot of street parking around the establishment, but if you're coming here for the adult beverages, then that's what Uber, Public Transportation and Taxis are for! Bang-for-the-Buck ------------------- For the service and experience you get, it's well worth the price! Don't drink? Get the fish n chips! Conclusion ----------- Off the beaten path, cosy and a place where "everyone [can] know your name", check the Publisher out! Tell them Philip (from Chicago) sent you there. Oh and if Stephan offers you the green Chartreuse... well... lemme just say... watch out! LOL (but it's all good)! -- PS: Stephan thanks for everything! We made it home to Chicago/Houston!

The food was incredible. So flavorful and perfect for sharing. The drinks were also amazing. We were going to get a simple old fashioned, but they talked us into their spiced, smoked version and it was fantastic. The staff were friendly, spoke English, and were super helpful in guiding our choices. We had a larger group, so we sat inside, and the interior was a very dark, velvety vibe. Downstairs had a wine cellar look to it. I honestly cant even remember everything we tried... just the feeling of happiness after eating it. We definitely had the lamb ghee roast. And maybe a chicken dish. Another plus is that they had plugs at our table so we could recharge our devices after using them to navigate all day. If youre looking for a wonderful meal with variety, definitely give Sharma'ji a try!

My take: Would return · Worth seeking out if you want to try Indian food in Paris…read more I like trying Indian restaurants wherever I travel. As an Indian who cooks Indian food, I'm interested in both the cooking and the creativity, along with the cocktails, décor, and service. Sharma Ji came highly recommended and gave us a dinner worth returning for. We had a reservation and sat outside. The light mango yellow, white trim, and burgundy accents made an inviting first impression. Our servers were welcoming; we learned they were from Nepal and studying in Paris. We started with a lychee-based gin cocktail and a bourbon-mango smash. I don't remember the menu names, but both were well made and enjoyable. The masala calamari came with a warning about the spice, and the warning was justified. We enjoyed the flavors despite the heat. Our main was shallow-fried white fish in a coconut-based sauce, with fenugreek potatoes and ghee-layered lachha paratha. These were dishes I don't generally find in most Indian restaurants, and everything was well prepared. We cleaned our plates. We passed on dessert--the familiar Indian standards didn't pique my interest. Service was sincere and friendly throughout, and the prices felt reasonable for a full-service dinner. When I'm back in Paris, I'll be visiting again.
