Bar celona is a local spot near Montjüic that serves amazing Spanish food. The menú del día was written on a chalkboard in Catalan, so one of the English-speaking staff explained all the dishes to us and was very helpful. It was 13€ for a three-course meal with drink for lunch.
For the starter, I had the canelones gratinados. This is cannelloni with a rich filling, although I have no idea what the filling was. It tasted like cheese, potatoes, and some kind of meat. It was very good. I had the bacalao con sanfaina for the main course, which is cod with a traditional Spanish tomato sauce with eggplant and zucchini. It was some of the best fish I have ever had. For dessert, I had the pastel de queso de la Montse. I don't know what the Montse part means, but this cheesecake was scrumptious. I couldn't eat dinner later because I was so full.
Beware: my friend got the "hamburger" thinking it would be a traditional hamburger with a bun, but it was just a small beef patty. read more
