I will never go there again! And you shouldn't either, if you value your time, dignity, money, and tastebuds. 1) Time: The front-counter sign insists that customers wait to get seated. While there were more waitstaff than customers at the time I arrived, I stood and stood, waiting to be seated. The waitstaff pointedly ignored me. I say "pointedly" because I saw two different individuals make eye contact with me more than once (per individual) then quickly look away, pretending they didn't see me. Apparently, they had their own party going on. I noticed a bartender pouring a whole bunch of shots of clear booze (tequila? vodka? whatever, doesn't matter). This round of shots, apparently ordered by a patron sitting at the bar, was apparently meant for him, his companion, and the wait staff. The person who poured the shots called other staff to the bar and indicated they were all to take a shot. I overheard one server say she felt uncomfortable with this and felt "very strongly" that she shouldn't partake. I walked up to the bar, smiled and waved at this particular server, and asked for a seat. She was friendly, sat me right away. As I waited (and waited and waited and waited!) for someone to take my order (waitstaff were all standing around gossiping behind the bar), the one who felt uncomfortable and who gave me a seat said something I couldn't hear to the other staff. Next I knew she was wearing a jacket, holding a purse, then she walked out the door. The service got worse from there, but I don't have all day (especially considering I spent far more time for that meal than was expected or decent). 2) Dignity: I'm just amplifying Point 1, as yes, it was undignified all around, 3) Money: Sundays are supposed to be all-day 2-for-1 well and rail drinks. I ordered 2 house wines, which should have cost less than $10 for both, but I was charged $10 each for 2 glasses, for 2 "glasses" of wine. I write "glasses" in quote because they were half pours at best. So, basically, I got 2 half-glasses (total of 1 glass) of wine for the price of 4 glasses. 4) Tastebuds: They forgot to season the appetizer I ordered. I mean, it was completely devoid of taste. There are no condiments on the tables. I would have asked for salt and pepper as to do the best I could at least. But see 1) Time. read more

Just ridiculously good! Everything we had was amazing! Cheese curd app was finger licking good! My Philly was amazing! The truffle fries were SO good! My daughters Juicy Lucy was outstanding and she was the Mac and Cheese instead of the fries and said it was the best Mac she's ever had! My wife had the Chili Lime Chicken Salad and she loved it!! Probably the best bar-type restaurant in the area. If you're a younger person looking for where things are happening, this is probably your best bet in the 209. They did a great job in the new space. Very trendy type of feel. Plenty of extremely solid bar food options with great burgers, sandwiches, and pizzas. The beef and pork combo burgers are amazing. Lots of different beers on tap. Service is quick and friendly. Entire place is clean, tables bused almost instantly when people are done. Prices are a touch on the high side, but not outlandish. Another happy hour that was great, now gone bad. The food tasted good and the 2-for-1 drink specials were unbeatable. Somehow management got the crazy idea in their heads that it should be changed - bad idea. The new food choices are terrible and the drinks are not a bargain at all anymore. Know the audience and cater to them, don't give us half-measures and pretend the customers are getting a deal. We used to consider 209 a treat, now it's just old news. Such a great find! The food is fantastic- try the cheese curds paired with warm marinara. We tried the the walleye tacos, guineas onion rings, daisy bird and strawberry salad. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The prices are very reasonable about $11-12 for a burger and fries. The burgers offer options for 100% all beef or a mix of beef and fennel. We had a few cocktails as well, I thought they were really good and reasonably priced (especially if you're used to paying big-city prices). The Raspberry Sling ($8) is a refreshing option for the summer. read more

My boyfriend and I went to this cozy little bar. It was a great atmosphere with sports TVs and an open kitchen to watch the chefs. There was pull tabs and the bathrooms were pretty cool. I had the curd burger and he had the quesadilla and coincidentally we were there during happy hour... which issssss "$2.09 OFF EVERYTHING!" Including alcohol (4-6pm) it was also at another time but I don't recall. My burger was good but it was a bit salty from the curds, but I asked for a side of BBQ to put on it and that sufficed. but a leaf of lettuce would have been good too. The Mac was a bit disappointing it wasn't gooey like I thought it would be but it was still good.we had two beers and our meals and with the happy hour we only spent $28 (minus tip) that was AWESOME! Bar 209 is a pretty neat place to grab a bite to eat. I was staying in Bemidji for work, and a cool evening out made me want some comfort food - unique burgers, beer, and Monday night football? I couldn't resist. Parking is a breeze, and the restaurant is actually larger than you'd think from the outside. I grabbed a spot at the bar, ordered my food and drink, and began chowing down on a PBJ burger with fried cheese curds as the side. PBJ isn't just peanut butter and jelly; Bar 209 uses chipotle raspberry jelly with bacon. The burgers are 80-20 beef-pork, which makes the patty incredibly tender and juicy; combined with the toppings, it was an incredibly satisfying burger to savor. And the fried cheese curds...yup, just do yourself a favor and order these. They're crunchy on the outside, squeaky on the inside - really irresistible. Service is friendly, and the atmosphere is perfect to come here with friends to grab a bite to eat and watch a game (or, if you're here alone like myself because the food is worth it!). The happy hour looks killer, too! I didn't have particularly high expectations for Bemidji, but Bar 209 definitely went above and beyond - in fact, I'd venture to say this was one of the best burgers I've eaten. read more

The menu was what I expected, huge servings, too many fries, etc. I opted for the lettuce wraps, thinking a bar might not do a great job on these but at least they are lighter. I was wrong. Bar 209 has been one of my favorite go to places when in the area for years! Their new space offers a open atmosphere to accommodate larger groups without feeling crowded. Not impressed. The staff was busting their butts and the service was good for having outdoor seating. Nick got the buffalo chicken wrap and a Caesar salad. The salad was spring mix, not romaine and it was warm. There was no blue cheese to be found in the wrap which is one of the main reasons he got it. I got the steak avo wrap and a side of Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was cold, not even room temperature, cold. The wrap was not wrapped well, you couldn't take a bite with every ingredient unless you actually unwrapped it and did some rearranging. My husband, son, daughter-in-law, I and our two young grandsons ate a late lunch here on Thursday 7/14/16 - - shortly after 2:00 p.m. There were at least five other tables occupied with at least four people at each table. Everyone was lingering over their meals and enjoying the many big screen TVs, pleasant atmosphere and enjoyable camaraderie that permeates the place. "Bill" the Bison is a fine greeter at the bar.... We were promptly served with water and icy cold beers. We were famished, and started with the Pulled Pork Nachos and a plate of their Wisconsin Cheese Curds. Understatement of the year: the menu states "THESE ARE REAL GOOD" under the curds. It should read "THESE ARE SCREAMIN' AMAZING!!". Oh - and the Pulled Pork Nachos? Who has ever heard of such a thing - - certainly no one in our party! They were outstanding. Super tender BBQ pulled pork and many tasty toppings on a humongous platter! We probably should have opted for one appetizer. But hey, as I stated before - - we W-E-R-E famished! Now for the finest burger that I have E-V-E-R eaten in my 63+ years. They start by grinding their own burger. We all opted for the 80/20 beef to pork blend. The meat was seared to perfection, the grind was topnotch and the flavor?!? Oh. My. Glory!! Added bonus? They bake all of their own breads and desserts. The burger buns were fan-tas-tic!! Thankfully, our friendly (and handsome!) server who hales from Forest Lake, MN allowed the adults in our group to downsize to the kid sized portion. I was ecstatic with my choice, and my husband devoured his burger with zero complaints. One grandson choose The Mac & Cheese Burger with a side of mac & cheese. Not cheesy enough for my taste buds, but the five year old loved it all. Our soon to be nine year old also picked the Juicy Lucy. It disappeared from his plate in no time at all. For his side, he selected the Chicken Wild Rice Soup - - the only negative on the table, according to all six in our party. The flavor of lemon was very strong, and the soup was on the thin side. I hope that the chef just had a bad day on Thursday, and that this is not the standard fare... As to the Guinness Rings? Pure perfection! Crispy, tasty, temperature perfect with just a bit of spicy heat somewhere in the batter to make the rings unforgettable. Sadly, no room for dessert, but the selections sounded mighty tempting. Decided to stop in and try this new improved place that we have not been to since the remodel expansion. We got here about 5:15 and about the end of happy hour. Big mistake should have got here a lot earlier because it was packed and people standing to be seated. I must say we were very impressed with the new place, we decided to sit at the bar and got seated pretty fast, as busy as they were we got greeted immediately. We are here on a Tuesday afternoon (day before the 4th) and this place is packed!!!! We chose to sit at the bar, and since we have been here 3 different servers have helped us... this is not a negative thing! There is a manger here managing like a BOSS!!!
