I went…read moreto three different spots in the city before finding the pickup location which was a dude sitting in the dark on an office chair. Picking up the food was the real adventure. The guy handing out orders was a sort of "Dandy Burger meets Seinfeld's Soup Nazi." This place takes its ordering for a maximum of two policy VERY seriously (I'll tell you that for free). It's a good thing my daughter has a habit of keeping her pre-school student ID on her or I don't know what would've happened! Regardless of the guy's having the bedside manner of a prison doctor, I couldn't help but leave with a smile. Have you ever seen someone and thought "I think I know that guys mustache." Not, like a "hey, that guy has a Tom Selleck mustache" and more like a "that mustache looks like it's won world titles." Anyway... the food. I much prefer the way the Jews handle their red onions over the Greeks. Growing up, my mom showed me a trick on how to take the punch out of red onions. She always said she learned it years ago from a wise Yiddish woman, but I'm not so sure that she didn't just Google it. All that to say, the onions were a bit hot. I'd like to tell you how good the Musubi was, but apparently the first customer gets a bonus loaf of Challah! My daughter and I were so excited that we drove off without making sure we had our Musubi. I'm guessing the next customer threw a party when they ended up with extra. Overall, the experience was unique and the food was great! Looking forward to the next one.

Reservation confirmation said, that door opens at 6:30pm and dinner service starts at 7pm. Phew, I'm sometimes bad with predicting the traffic patterns, so that gives you a little cushion. AND I arrived at 6:30pm on the dot. Ha! Plenty of street parking, but I wasn't sure I was in the right place since there was no sign. But, the building's number is clearly marked. So I stepped inside. There was music playing from the back of the building and I just kept moving towards the music. After 2 doorways, my husband remarked it was like we were entering a speakeasy. We stepped into a living room and proceeded through another doorway to find an open kitchen and jaw dropping red alder dining table. Standing in the kitchen was Chef Riley Eckersley and he greeted us like we were old friends. He had a couple of cocktails ready to pour and explained his concept of his place that has only been open for 3 weeks. Imagine an intimate dinner party (6 guests the night I was there) gathering for conversation while being taken on a culinary journey around Oregon. Throughout the evening, every detail was carefully curated, from the ingredients (from the coast to the mountains, he covered every corner), to the plating, music, and drinks (everything from mezcal, sake, orange wine, etc). The whole experience lasts 2 1/2-3 hours and I enjoyed every minute. I will certainly return as the menu changes with the seasons of Oregon. We began the evening as strangers, and ended as close friends.

This quaint little place is definitely a nice gem! If you're traveling through don't hesitate to come by the StageStop Pizza! You won't be disappointed in any way. I ordered the 3 Cheese Calzone and it came with a small cup of extra sauce! Which was perfect and chilled which added to the dynamics of the hot calzone! I can't remember the last time I even wanted to finish a calzone! Was a short wait for the food. Music playing in background was a vibe. They had the games on so was great to just sit back relax and eat some quality local handmade food. Calzone: 10/10 Ingredients were fresh, dough was cooked perfectly. Had that crunchy bite with softer doughy center and the cheese and sauce came out slowly. Worth the drive, worth the time and the value mixed with quality you can't beat.

Veggies were all fresh and tasty but was surprised by the dressing in the bag. 4 stars. Pizza - loved the homemade and handmade pizza dough! Normally we wouldn't eat the crust but it was delish. The pepperoni pizza was pretty greasy but everything had great flavor. 4 stars Friendly service and cozy spot!

But today I went upscale to the crab cake dinner, the most expensive item on the menu. Disappointing; the crab was essentially AWOL. Worse, I was given one flimsy plastic fork that broke during the meal (replaced with another plastic fork and a metal knife). The meal included an excellent salad, sharing a too-small plate with the crab cakes. Stick with the finger food (fish and chips, tacos) and you will be happy. (Except for the overpriced beer, @ $8.50/glass. At least it doesn't come in a paper cup.)

Every plate tastes like it was prepared with pride, and every bite reminds you why coastal towns have such a loyal following. The hospitality is just as memorable as the meal. The staff makes you feel like a regular, whether it's your first visit or your fiftieth. Add in the option of relaxing indoors or enjoying the ocean air outside--where your four-legged companions are just as welcome--and you've found more than a restaurant; you've found an experience. If you're passing through Yachats, don't waste time wondering where to eat. This is the stop. In fact, your only problem will be realizing there isn't another place for miles that delivers this combination of incredible food, genuine hospitality, and laid-back coastal charm. Huge applause to the chefs, staff, and owners for creating one of the Oregon Coast's true hidden gems.
