    3 more really good dogs!
    Joe T.

Visited the drive thru at Bantam Chef in Chesnee, S.C. This place has been in this location since the 1950's so I've been told. It looks like a museum as much as it does a restaurant. Every trip here for me is like stepping into a time tunnel! The food is good; sometimes really good. Giving in to my lust for hotdogs, I pulled in line and waited my turn to order. The entire process went acceptably fast. When I put my brown paper bag in my truck; the chili aroma was fantastic! I couldn't wait to get home. These hotdogs were four star solid! I wasn't let down! I recommend dining in at Bantam Chef to get the whole 1950's experience.

The smallest and tasteless $5+ BBQ Sandwich, within a 100 mile radius
    Garry H.

FIRST TIME CUSTOMER! Beware of dishonest cashiers, that purposely give dishonest answers to food inquiries. Came in one hour before closing, to get a bite to eat. I chose their BBQ Sandwich, only after asking whether or not if the BBQ was store bought or fresh cooked or smoked there. The cashier quickly responded that it was smoked out back. Immediately after taking the first bite, I realized that a lie had been told; because the meat was tasteless. Also it was a very, very, tiny $5 BBQ Sandwich, to say the least. Where there would have been future visits, there are none now. I will now visit Mayo Drive-In. Maybe they're more inclined to being honest.

I thought this was going to be a neat place to eat. When you walk in you order first to the left pick up on the right. a bit confusing when it is your first time there. I wish I had read some of the reviews. There was a Rib eye special, the girl said it was around 7oz. It had to be maybe at the most 3-4 oz. It was super thin. I wanted Rare and it was so over done. I left most of it, I just couldn't finish. The baked potato was ok and the side salad just lettuce, a couple pieces of tomatoes and lots of cheese. They don't carry blue cheese dressing (FYI) There were a abundance of flies in the kitchen as we watched them cook. The place was not too clean, alittle older dated interior. I know this wasn't a 5 star restaurant but I was hoping it would be pretty good. The hole in the wall type of place. The decor was 50's and I liked seeing the old cars and Elvis statue. It's a shame the food was not up to par but you live and learn, we certainly will not go back this was not a great dining experience. The food was just not good at all, but you pay when you order which might be the first sign to leave!!

The food was cold and greasy, prices are high. 2 eggs double order of burnt bacon, greasy country ham..and a biscuit...$19.95 !!... the staff is very rude...I will never go back again...just a terrible place to eat...oh yeah, the Studebaker was cool. On top of all that, the restaurant is filthy...

You gotta go there once, or twice, or may be a few times just because of the decor. A great 50s style diner. A part of the diner has an old 50s studebaker in there. Licence plates adorn the side boards and cheesy witty posters all over. The food itself isn't remarkable but it's an homage to the 50s style. I had a roast beef melt with curly fries and an orange fanta malted milkshake. 12$ for all of this. For us non locals, it's worth taking kids there just to have them walk into a bygone era.

I would not recommend this place. Everything seemed to be canned. From the gravy to the peaches in the cobbler and the meat was tough.

This was my first trip to South Carolina and the first stop was Southern Manners - it did not disappoint! We had a huge group of ladies to celebrate our bride and the staff were all fabulous - big shout out to our cashier/server, Jaden! He was amazing and so accommodating with our 19 top. The ordering was as smooth as it could be and Jaden made sure to go around asking any questions he had about the orders. The food came out relatively quick considering how many people we had and I really appreciate the staff. The pricing was very reasonable and i would recommend if you're looking for a real home-y feeling restaurant with good food! In regards to ordering, we had special accommodations because we were a big group, but normal flow has customers ordering and paying when they walk in the door and then the food is brought to your table. It has a fast food vibe, but I didn't mind it! The line moved pretty quick while we were there. Can't wait to go back!

Many others who arrived after us were served before us. Even when we brought it to their attention, it took even longer. At the register, another customer was also complaining about the wait. So it seems that they lose some tickets while expediting others. Ambiance is waaay toooo loud! We will not return.

All the food, like last time, was paced perfectly. Our apps and salad were not overlapped by my our entrees! And the rolls, c'mon! They're hot and delicious! We shared the onion strings app, tasted perfect and loved the dipping sauce. We also got side salads with ranch -- wow, you can tell it's made there, and just the right amount of dill in it! For entrees, wife and I shared the 14oz ribeye -- WOW, is it good -- with a side of broccoli. Good amount of marbling, perfect temp (medium), and juicy. MIL had the fried chicken, which was probably a 3 out of 5 for her. Only two of the four pieces were juicy, and to me it looked a little over cooked. We had no room for dessert, and the snow started coming down heavy, so we left after filling up. Make sure you don't assume anything with this place being in a strip mall -- it is sooooo good! See you again next year!

My daughter used to manage a German Restaurant, the owners being German immigrants, so she's pretty discerning when it comes to German food - let me tell you, she was absolutely blown away! She said hands down, all 3 items were the very best she's ever had. I opted for the Rueben, which, I was equally impressed with - the corned beef was tender, hardly any fat, and the dressing was to die for. Desert was equally as delicious, their Cheese cakes are nothing less than phenomenal - and lets just say their pasta salad and pimento cheese found its way home with us to enjoy with dinner that evening - amazing! I'd give them 100 starts if I could, a must stop if you're nearby - or worth driving if you're not. Can't wait until next year to come back!
