They offered excellent care, they were very knowledgeable in their fields, supportive and very caring. They didn't just provide the services but they gave us hope. My husband is a 100% better today than he was two months ago because of the team provided by Banner. I had a really bad experience with these guys providing a cpap machine that was supposedly a "free test." It ended up costing me $500 to try a machine for two weeks. Everyone I dealt with here was really unhelpful. Don't use these people. read more

Cannot figure out why Banner cannot do a better job in CPAP supplies. Customer calles to place order, they have to call back (takes a week) to get payment, then they send an email bill for the supplies you've already paid for, then it takes 30 mins+ to get thru to them by phone.....terrible process! read more

Had an appointment last week to get a CPAP machine. Scheduling worked with me to get a convenient appointment time. It was not very pleasant after that. Banner has a beautiful, huge facility but patient care is lacking. I was taken to a room off the lobby to get my machine. I have had a CPAP machine before and the most important part is getting the right mask. I was shown masks that were "upgraded" with memory foam and was told that the mask I would get would be similar. It was not. Why am I shown a mask I can not get? Also, they had very few out that I could choose from. Obviously, the person showing me the machine and mask has never used one! With the amount of money spent on the facility, how come Banner could not have a better display and choice of masks? I felt like I was annoying the employee by asking questions. It is sad that my insurance dictates where I have to go and it seems poor customer service is the norm. read more

Banner Health Home Care is to big to service their patients. My mom is an amputee and needs sleeve, and socks to make it work. We have been dealing with Hanger Clinic in Mesa for 16 years. (Hanger is Amazing) Now Banner and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona have control of the way we have to get her supplies. You need an authorization for everything! Then you get to deal with Banners lack of staff. Getting a receipt of charges after I paid a copay, I was told I should get a copy from BCBS AZ. I argued for 5 minutes with this man, no you charged me for the supplies now get me a detailed statement of charges and zero balance, He couldn't. I gave up and Hanger is putting something together so I can submit to my moms spending account. My contact at Hanger hears Banner and shakes their head. I don't understand why the patient or advocate has to jump through so many hoops for a receipt. A complete Failure again. If you or a family member has to deal with Banner Home Health stay on them. From start to finish the worst experience ever. The communication was poor from the start of the process. I was trying to get a CPAP and Banner Home Care was horrible. They had the wrong phone number in my file I gave them the correct phone number and yet they still called the wrong number. When I finally called to check on things they tell me had left me several messages. Calling the wrong number. When things get squared away they say I need to talk to a respitory therapist. The therapist seemed.to have no more knowledge than the Customer Service person. I told her i would not take another Airesense 10 and she said it would be the 11 or 12. The twelve is not even out yet. When I get to the office for machine the tell me it needs to be the ten model since it is a BiPap and 11 doesn't offer that. I finally decided to pull the plug on the whole experience. You could tell they did not care about what they were doing and how the did it. read more

While in Banner Boswell Hospital, my mother decided she no longer wanted dialysis for her renal failure. The nurse kindly offered to contact Banner Hospice. This was my third elderly family member, within 5 years, who would be going on hospice. The hospice nurse was nice. She said all the right things and I believe she was sincere. I said yes. And that was the last positive word I would ever say about Banner Health Hospice. They never managed to get the paperwork going to get my mother any of the meds she still required (and had been approved by hospice when in the hospital). I called the hospice and they had no idea but thought it might be the doctor's fault. I asked for a manager. She was very nice and said she would talk with the hospice nurse and have her check. I spoke with the hospice nurse. She didn't know why I needed to speak with her. She hadn't heard from the manager. She didn't know my mother wasn't getting her meds but said it just sometimes takes time to get the orders. I had to keep after them and get it handled. Another hospice nurse called at 6 am the next morning saying my mother was doing very well and could go home. What?? I don't think so. She's not even awake at 6 AM! The hospice nurse very condescendingly lectured me about how hospice does not house people who don't need it. And my mother had to be out of the facility by 11 AM or I would have to begin paying the daily rate. I, once again, called the Banner Health hospice manager. She called me back pretty quickly because, as she told me, the nurse had called her in tears because she was so upset thinking she was giving me good news. I couldn't convince Banner Health Hospice that they made a mistake. In order to keep from having to move my Mom again, I paid the daily rate. The hospice and the Center at Arrowhead, where she was staying, argued over who would bathe my mother and/or change her clothes. I called Banner Health Hospice again and again. They didn't want to deal with it. I had to handle it. My Mom died in April, three days after Banner Health Hospice said she was doing "very well". I was lucky enough to be with her, holding her hand. Banner Health Hospice made a sad situation horrible and stressful. In every situation, they made things worse. read more

Let's divide their services. First, their customer care people who answer the phones are....incompetent....poorly trained...in and out....useless. They promise to take care of a problem and do nothing, After 10 years of lousy customer care. I've decided their supervisors are telling them to ignore problems....not write up reports....put off customers.. There are no excuses for this level of customer service, especially in the health care industry. Their Technicians, on the other hand are excellent. So many times, I have heard...."We never knew you were having a problem." Duh, maybe because it was never written up??? They've been able to take care of almost every problem I've had. Great people. I am so frustrated with Banner after multiple billing issues (being told I had to pay X amount (100.00 more than my insurance said when I questioned that, they informed me they would refund any overpayment), (and getting a credit of only half of what I paid), to name a few. I don't know why there are so many issues with what should be a simple process, but here we go again. I called to order supplies. The person I spoke with stated they would run my insurance, call me back in 3-5 days, collect my payment, and then ship my supplies. She then explained (after I questioned this, which had never happened in the past) that they can't run the insurance when we call to order because it takes too much time, leaving others with a long hold time (by the time she explained all this, she could have run the insurance.) So finally, they called and told me I owed a hundred and some dollars. I paid, and they assured me my supplies would be shipped. After waiting two weeks, I called and asked where one of my items was and how much longer it would take to arrive; after a long hold, they stated, "Your item didn't get ordered." I explained when I was on the phone, and the person reviewed my order (twice) that the item was on the order. The kind person assured me it was on the way, and I did get it within two days. NOW, three weeks later, I get a bill for over 400.00! They told me they ran my insurance, and I paid the balance. The whole point of waiting 3-5 days for you to call me was to have an accurate cost of my items. My conclusion is the need for a new operating system, hiring procedures, training programs, or just stopping the deceptive billing practices. read more

Waited for over 3 months to get a replacement CPAP machine. Then they did not include an adapter for my oxygen input so more waiting. BTW the adaptor for the AirSense 11 climate hose is a pitiful jury-rigged option in which the oxygen cannula dangles from the front of the mask so I have 2 hoses that get tangled up when I sleep. I now tape the cannula to the air hose to minimize the problem--what a farce. They sent a document for me to e-sign via DocUSign but it had numerous inaccuracies about my situation so I refused to sign until they corrected them. I set up a delivery day Sat Aug. 20 but they did not show up. Then they arrived following week when I told them I would be out of town. Finally, delivered 5 days late by a rather surly courier. I hate the head gear they provided. I have been using an Eson mask for six years and told them I wanted to continue but they said they did not have it in stock and would send me an alternative. The alternative makes me feel like I can't breathe and I wake up in the night with headaches and can't sleep through the night as I used to do. The staff are very difficult to contact and often do not return msgs. I would like to chuck this Banner outfit and find another one that has decent customer service! read more

Unfortunately, as I write this review, I am no longer under the Banner Home Care "banner". (pun intended) Not by choice, my Health insurance is the culprit. I have really enjoyed the time I did get with Banner. They are so far above and beyond what else is out there it's not even measurable. I have been with Lincare and Premier, and they both pale in comparison when compared to the care and service Banner offers. I'm on oxygen therapy and I rely on these companies for all the peripherals associated with that ailment. Three companies providing the same service, yes, but not in the same way. Not by far. Not only is their equipment superior, communication with them is actually an enjoyable experience. If you are able to choose, I highly recommend Banner. read more

Be very careful of this company they are very much aware of the fact that they are the only place to go and have a monopoly in this area. in my case they treated their convenience and profits above my health and manipulated the doctors to get them to make changes for their own convenience Shortly after I posted the first review the nurse who was helping to take care of me decided it was inconvenient for her to schedule things the way my doctor had recommended so call by Dr. urban and got him to change what he had directed by speaking to his aid. This was mentally inconvenient for me but the doctors and I had just discussed earlier that day what he wanted to have happen and the nurse from this company managed to talk him out of it without even consulting with me As it turned out it is now a year later and I still have problems with this situation and I think it is largely caused by the fact that Color was cut off too soon read more

My experience with Banner Home CARE has been horrible. I really think they should take "CARE" out of their name. Due to having new insurance - Banner Aetna in fact - I had to switch providers. I have made 6 calls over six week period to try to to get CPAP supplies. First they need new prescription. I have my doctor send. I called them, "yes we have it, someone will call you once approved. NO call. I call and now they want the prescription to list each type of item that I need - no one called to tell me that...I had to call. They got that. No call. I called them, NOW they need a copy of sleep study - no one called to tell me that I called when no one called me after a few days. Then they needed to get approval from manager - AGAIN no one called me to say I had been approved I called after nothing for a week. Finally I make an order but it doesnt arrive after a 10 business days. I called them....they said it needs approval...AGAIN. Now I wait again for another phone call that will probably never come. AFter I get this order I will be going through the whole damn process again to find a competent provider. HOw I wished I'd looked at Yelp reviews before starting with them but I figured "hey, they ARE part of my own health insurance company, this should be easy." NOT read more

I am so impressed by the service Banner Health Home Care gave. My breast pump broke after having it for a couple weeks and when I called to have it replaced I was immediately given information to contact the manufacturer. Cody took the time to call to make sure the information had been confirmed. When it was time to pick up my new breast pump, he called and noticed life around here was pretty chaotic with a crying newborn in the background. He offered to drop it by my house on his lunch break so I wouldn't have to leave the house. I was so impressed and grateful for this gesture. Cody- you are amazing!! Thank you! read more

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE service for medical supplies. Have to call almost weekly to order oxygen supplies. ALWAYS on hold FOREVER waiting to talk to someone. Last week I called and was on hold 90 frickin minutes and nobody EVER picked-up. I was at home, on speaker phone, on the computer while I waited. Literally, it was 90 minutes and nobody answered. Just the voice message and VERY, VERY sorry music. Consider yourself WARNED. Worse than Banner Baywood Hospital in service. You know that's bad. My son was prescribed a knee scooter. The doctor faxed over the orders three times. Confirmed the fax went through as well as the fax number. Banner insisted they weren't receiving it. I had to go to the doctor to get the order and drive it to banner. It was at 1PM on Wednesday, being that it was the day before Thanksgiving they said it would be delivered Friday. We called several times Friday and were finally told it would be delivered between 3 and 6PM. Our entire day was shot, waiting for delivery. I called again at 530 to confirm it was on its way. The woman was very short with me on the phone and just said delivery is between 3 and 6. It's now after 6. They are of course closed, and no scooter delivered. If this place is referred to you by your doctor, save yourself some hassle and ask for another medical supply company. We had to go rent one. read more

I was forced to change to Banner Home Care with a change in my health insurance. I found out that I owned my machine which was just over a year old. I decided to keep my machine as it worked just fine. Though I was authorized for a new machine and mask of my choice. I had made an appointment for a new machine and to seek out a face mask that did not cover as much area as I have discovered I am allergic to the latex in most masks. I brought two machines with me to be set for the proper pressure. My current machine and a spare older,non autopap model that I keep in the car in case I unexpectedly have to spend a night away from home. (I'm very diligent with my CPAP usage) The first technician was prepared to set me up with a new machine. When she realized I did not require this she called in another technician. She set up one machine without issue, the newer of the two machines. Her body language indicated that this was a sort of bother to her being taken away from whatever other task she was completing at the time. She was not the friendliest. As time progressed she told me my prescription was for auto pap and it was illegal for her to set my old machine. I responded with what do I do then? She told me again that I was asking for something illegal. Frustrated I did say BS. She said that Banner would no longer have me as a patient. She asked me to leave. I became upset Banner is the only DME contracted with my current insurance plan. I have no choice. I also told her I didn't care I would look up the instructions to change it on You Tube. She left the room and I began packing up my machines. A few moments later she entered with a man who stated he was her supervisor. He proceeded to tell me I was wrong and they do not have to service me. I was really upset. Luckily my Mom, a retired Clinical Psychologist, was in the room with me. She had witnessed the entire incident. We were escorted out of the room and down the hall into a smaller office. There finally I was given an opportunity to tell my side of the story. The first thing from the manager was more chastising and telling me they do not have to service me or help me. My Mom chimed in. She explained she had observed the entire thing. She told him the technician's body language and demeanor were negative and hostile from the beginning. She also stated I could have handled it better. Which yes in hindsight maybe I would agree. However telling me to leave and refusing to try to work with me was unprofessional and unacceptable. Ultimately the technician was at fault. The manager ultimately did as we asked and programmed my oldest machine. He stated the technician wasn't sure how to set up the older model. I explained there is no crime in saying I'm not sure about this model. She could have asked for help. Had she been honest it would not have festered into a huge negative experience for everyone. Given an opportunity I will be changing health plans. Luckily open enrollment begins in the near future. This is not my first negative Banner experience. However it will be my last! read more

So, my father was admitted to St. Joes here in Phoenix back on 2/28 for a left temporal hemorrhagic(likely amyloid angiopathy) stroke. MANY, many up's and downs later he got well enough to be released to a care center(believe me it has been Hell). He did not qualify for Skilled Nursing Facility - which would be paid for by medicare so mom and I had to look for a long term care home for him. They had him in the hospital over the allotted time frame and by the time they determined he was not able to go to SNF mom and I had been getting DAYS worth of calls threatening us with being charged the entire hospital bill. So came the day that he was found not eligible: We were told that he HAS to be sent somewhere; and since he was diagnosed with dementia with lewy bodies while in the stroke center and is still confused he might qualify for Hospice. We met with the woman from Banner Hospice and our first reaction was to turn this down - she bothered us both somehow. Social Worker/Case manager found out that we had declined and came and told us how great this option would be - that Banner Hospice would follow him wherever he went and would be like a second eye for us; how this hospice is only one of three in the state that has inpatient care units and they could take care of him for 3 -5 days and help both the hospital and us while mom and I looked into group homes. And once we get him into a home we could always choose to revoke hospice. The doctor even came and begged my mom to get him out of the hospital because he is too strong to stay - he will just get sicker being there. We thought - welll... it will get people to stop yelling at us and it will get him someplace that will be quieter so he can rest better and get stronger while we search out a home for him. So we signed him in - under comfort measures(allowed to eat anything he wants and pain medicine if needed) The next day we got a call from the social worker Lynda telling us the Dr thinks he will be released the next day(admitted Tuesday afternoon, set to be released Thursday) so we went to visit him and all he could talk about was how hungry he was; we asked the nurse about giving him food and she said the Dr. put him as nothing by mouth but he had been getting PEG tube feedings all day. We did not like it, but I didn't see the real harm - he is getting food/water from the PEG feedings and I am going to have to find a place by tomorrow because he is doing to well to stay under symptom management. The nurse also said she would call the Hospice and try to get by mouth food orders for him since he is actively asking for food. The nurse's aide told us they would be locking the gate soon so we left.. The next day mom called and was told he was cleared to eat food by mouth and they were taking him breakfast right now. We left thinking things are great and we found him a group home, we loved the place and the woman was just adorable. It's where she lives so she is there all the time; she is a part time RN at the hospital nearest us and this place is maximum 5 minutes away. She knows we live and is excited that we might be by everyday. Mom called the Hospice social worker and left a message. An hour later we hadn't heard back so she called her again and connected with her and asked when dad can be released and was told that the Dr won't be discharging him today. When mom asked why the SW said she will have the nurse call us. An hour later no one had called. So we called the inpatient unit and spoke with the nurse at the center who told us dad is "going backward", color is bad, not able to eat, reparations elevated. We freaked out - what the blue fuck is happening? We raced to the inpatient unit and found my father who just the day before was talking and laughing now laying flat on the bed struggling for air, his skin was purple - his whole body was purple; the sclera of his eye was bright red and he had bruising to the side of his orbit; slightly gurgling and unable to even open his eyes. I raised his bed to about 30* to allow him to breath better and found the other nurse and asked him when my dad had last been given PEG feeding because if he was not getting water we need him to get water ASAP. The nurse goes to pull the chart and says "I don't show any PEG feeding being done here" when I asked about by mouth food and water he said he doesn't show him being given food or water at any point in time during his stay there. Oh, and you won't be locked in here - the gate opens as you pull up to it. I asked him why the hell would he be given NOTHING for over two days and this man looked me straight in the eyes and told me "this is what hospice does to help the people who need to die." We of course revoked hospice and got him to the hospital. He is now being treated for aspiration pneumonia and a urinary infection and the Dr's don't think his chances are very good... What kind of people could walk away from a bedridden man begging them for food? read more

These unbelievable people!!! They go above and beyond in every aspect of care! They are knowledgeable, kind, and they provide a deep sense of respect towards the person they are caring for. This elderly, feeble , and ailing Vietnam Veteran, was so humiliated by the care that was required.The Hospice Care givers did everything they could to give this Marine as much dignity that they could. He was unable to do much on his own, but, he was sound of mind, which meant he knew everything that was going on. Hospice has a chaplain that came to visit and they had a wonderful time cracking jokes, laughing, and praying. He told us (the family) he was ready to go home to be with God. In one week later he was gone. We are so grateful for all of the fantastic people at Banner Home Care & Hospice for everything they did for him and the rest of the family. They have continued to check on us to see if we need anything. We just love each and everyone of you!!! read more

Please avoid this hospice company, and instead choose Hospice of the Valley. Here's why: my dad is currently under hospice care, and at first Banner Hospice transferred him to Serenity House near 16th Street & Indian School to assess his condition and try to get his pain under control. The nurses seemed like lovely people and seemed very concerned for my dad. At one point, because my father can no longer walk even to the restroom, they put a catheter in. He was aware of this and did not object to it. The next day, my mom and sister arrived at Serenity House to see him, and noticed that the telephone receiver in his room was covered in blood. My sister sat on the bed to talk to dad, and it was soaked with urine. The catheter had come out, caused his bleeding, and then leaked urine all over the bed. I understand that Hospice provides end of life care and makes patients comfortable. Dad had been given pain medication and anxiety medication, which was not a problem. However, that medication made him unaware of his surroundings and of what he could truly do on his own, so when he tried to get up to go to the bathroom himself, he fell. If you're going to catheterize someone and then give them drugs that may alter his state of mind, you should check on him once in awhile and not let him lie around in urine. Yes, I realize he's dying, and that there are other patients at Serenity House, but please. This is unacceptable. We are generally kind people, so I was willing to overlook even the catheter fiasco. But then we met the "social worker," Elizabeth G. Elizabeth met with my mom and sister at Serenity House and told mom that if she couldn't take care of dad, she needed to move him to either a nursing home ($3000/mo) or assisted living ($3000/mo.) as soon as he was stable enough to leave Serenity House. Elizabeth "offered" to help mom complete paperwork to apply for help from the state because my mom can't afford $3000/mo, but her "offer" made mom feel pressured, confused, and upset. I called Elizabeth myself to clarify what she'd told mom. I had to leave a message. Elizabeth called back, but I was on a work phone call and couldn't pick up her call. I called the hospice office, as instructed by Elizabeth in her voicemail, and the lady at the office said to just call Elizabeth back on the number she'd called me on. I did this, and Elizabeth spent the first three minutes of the call explaining that she was going to call the office and tell them not to instruct people to call her cell phone, because she was going on vacation the next day, and it was inappropriate for me to call her cell phone. ELIZABETH-THERE'S A THING CALLED NUMBER BLOCKING. IF YOU DON'T WANT PEOPLE CALLING YOU BACK ON YOUR CELL PHONE, THEN BLOCK THE NUMBER. Your vacation is not my problem. You might deal with people dying every day; I don't. The next day when my mom and sister were at the hospice location, another social worker tried to explain what dear Elizabeth had meant to say, but my mom was far too upset at this point. She wanted my dad moved to another hospice organization, and the social worker, doctor, and staff worked to convince my mom to leave dad in their hospice. This is a really shitty time for people to try to sell you stuff you don't want. Now they'd downgraded themselves to Really Tacky People in my opinion. I called to once again try to clarify what was going on (I was at work), and asked if we had any rights at all. The lady who answered the phone said that of course we have rights, and said she'd have the nurse call me to explain. That was over a week ago, and I'm still waiting to hear back. Banner did eventually agree to transfer dad back to his and my mom's house, where he remains. My dad's primary care physician contacted Hospice of the Valley, and so far, though it's only been two days, both mom and I (my sister went back home to Michigan last week) feel supported, as comfortable as possible with caring for dad, and informed. Having a loved one die is a naturally stressful time. Trust me, you don't need pushy, easily annoyed people who may be too overworked to do a good job helping you at this time. Go with Hospice of the Valley. read more

My dad was at the Banner Hospice in Sun City West for a little over an hour before he passed away. He passed away struggling to breathe and in severe pain. I will never use hospice of any type after this experience again. The nurse could not get a doctor to answer her pages to authorize pain meds for him. There should have been meds in place he was coming from an ICU and had been under hospice for 3 hours there before transport. Someone should have been waiting with the meds when he arrived. My son said he will never forget the image of my dad begging and the look in his eyes at him needing something for pain. I am saddened to know that I authorized him to go under hospice and he died in pain and I have to live with that the rest of my life on top of the grief of loosing him. read more

True Story: My mother is dying of small cell cancer andis in the Banner Home Care Hospice. She has no appetite and has to force down a calories just to try to keep digestion going for comfort sake ...and thanks to a gastric bypass to get around obstruction (probably primary tumor site) she IS finally able to eat and poop and thanks to stints at kidneys she regained that function also ....even though my SISTER and not the hospital nurses noticed she had NO urine output! When Doctor finally apprised of this he ordered immediate emergency surgery to treat...But that was before hospice. SINCE then my huge complaint is the utter lack of trying to accomodate a patient wish to try a relatively inexpensive generic drug marinol. They actually either lied on the phone or are truly ignorant and stated that their doctors were "unable to prescribe any marijuana products and that she would have to go to a marjuana doctor outside normal medical prescription routine" or something amounting to the same thing ...once I explained that NO Marinol is simply one more FDA approved SYNTHETIC pharmacuetical drugs available at ANY regular pharmacy the nurse was like "Oh I did not know that" (really??) So she agreed to ask the doctor....called back and said NOPE doctor cant write that" So I asked to speak with the doctor personally....this doctor finally calls and talked and talked saying why it typically would not help most patients ...I was like fine I believe you BUT my mother WANTS TO TRY IT...can we please humor her and TRY IT? NOPE ...will not can not ...any other doctor COULD ....in fact 80% of marinol RX are written off label! My dad's doc had zero problems writing it ...So anyway that is why I suggest to anyone reading this looking for a hospice in Sun City, Az area? Keep looking! I have never been so poorly served by a company. My husband has suffered 2 strokes and requires a walker/rollator. Banner was faxed all of the information on November 15, 2016. No subsequent contact. My husband's neurologist called Banner in November 29, 2016 and was told everything was ready. I called that day to arrange pickup and was told the tech would call to arrange drop off at our home. It is now January 10, 2017 and I had heard nothing since the end of November. I spoke to Medicare and was told to call again and ask for a supervisor if I was not served. I did as requested and was told by the call handler that she could not tell what was going on but she would have someone call me. I then asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold...she returned stating all supervisors were in a meeting. I sincerely doubted that; but, stated I would be expecting a call within 24 hours. I still have a basically non mobile husband and a very bad taste in my mouth about Banner. read more

The order for my CPAP device was generated back in October 2016 and still, as of now, my order has not been processed by Banner Home Health. I kept on receiving the same information that the prescribing physician has not sent the required documents to process the order. I called my PCP to notify on what transpired between me and Banner Health. The office of my PCP sent the sleep study result again to Banner Home Care. As of last week, I was informed by Banner Home Health that they finally received the require documents. Im a traveling RN, who is on assignment in California right now. I was informed by Amy that she will charge me out of network since the device has to be sent to me in California but she never did called back to update me on the status. So I still don't have the device. Its been over 5 months now and I still don't have the CPAP machine. For all I know, I could have been dead already. I definitely would not recommend Banner Home Health for any services. read more

if only they had a negative star rating. my son broke his leg and out of the many providers we delt with i only had one horrible experience and that is with banner home medical in regards to his crutches. its been over a year and i still cannot get this cleaned up in fact they just sent my 13 year old son to collections for $15. they are the worst. read more
