Finally…read moregot the chance to try it, and I don't know if the built up anticipation caused me to expect more or the restaurant just didn't meet some minimum standards. The host who sat us was friendly enough. The restaurant is spacious with the expected Mexican decorations. Our table was not clean, and the host didn't notice. I asked the next person who came by to clean it, and she was happy to do it. It gave me hope that this was a minor issue, and we'd enjoy the rest. Unfortunately, it was the least of the issues. The server kept forgetting things we asked for and disappeared. We never got a refill on anything. He came back and apologized, but it seemed disingenuous. We were happy to leave, and unfortunately, we might not return - at least until we forget about this experience. Like: Quesadilla (flavorful steak, but one side did not have any on it); cheese dip (didn't get a refill on chips) Dislike: Hawaiian fajitas (great flavor; steak was tough with gristles); service (kept forgetting things, didn't refill anything, disappeared)

The booth was very cramped ... but we made it work…read more The restaurant was decorated in a typical Mexican restaurant way with bold colors and items from Mexican places around strategically. The menu was disappointing kind of big but it was a more Americanized version of Mexican food and I was looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant for dinner. The photos of the food are of more authentic dishes, but when you come in, read the descriptions on the items you realize that the owners have pretty much designed or reimagined all the dishes but for an more American target audience - not a bad thing for them but not the experience I wanted. I order the flautas (rolled tacos) 4 came with the order, guac & sour cream plus lettuce and tomato (I asked for them to leave that off I wasn't going to eat it anyway) no rice or beans I had to order that extra (‍) My son ordered a French fry appetizer My mom a chicken & steak plate. The chips & salsa were ok. Salsa lacked any real spice or flavor it tasted like tomato and oregano. I didn't have any. I ordered an horchata & it was fresh & delicious & the mug it came in was also pretty cool looking. My son really enjoyed his fried zero complaints there they had queso, chorizo & pico on them. My mom enjoyed her plate as well. My food was "ok" the meat in my flautas lacked seasoning & they were extremely greasy. The guacamole was tasteless & looked very unappealing so I didn't eat that, the rice & beans were very good delicious actually, the rice was probably my favorite part of my meal. Overall good definitely not terrible just not terribly authentic maybe somewhere in the middle.

We just went 11/29 at about 6:00 and I just don't know what happened to my favorite Mexican restaurant. I'm just so sad and disappointed!! Was it from the recent closing and reopening that things had to change? I just don't know. So when we walked in, it smelled of Fabuloso cleaning product. Why do Mexican restaurants use Fabuloso at all to clean?? Like I knew I would be tasting that while I ate, and I was right. That's all I could smell and taste. Next the table was crusty. They came to clean and what a surprise, Fabuloso. Food was okay. My meat wasn't really hot. The tortilla chips tasted of rank oil. Like the oil they cook the chips in needs to be changed. We didn't even finish the basket and we can eat some chips and salsa. My husband went to the bathroom and he said the bathroom was disgusting. They clearly didn't use the Fabuloso in there. We were in and out in 30 mins. It was the most disappointing meal. Also did take my meat home and when I got home my whole bag and napkins smelled like Fabuloso. I ended up trashing the whole meal. I don't know if I'll go back after this. I'm so sad because I loved this place. And if you're a Mexican restaurant owner, stop using Fabuloso to clean.

The grilled chicken was hot and juicy and came served with onion and cilantro. The carnitas was slightly dry and I would not order that again. Drinks were fabulous (try the Peach Mule) and we crushed the bacon flight (fought over who could get the last maple bite). Then we had shrimp and grits, bison burger and a Caesar. All were flavorful and some of the best we've ever had. Our server was training tonight but his apprentice was just as knowledgeable and attentive - in fact he helped us with drink selection and ensured we had bottles of water flowing since we were so dehydrated from the day. Cannot wait to go back and try other things on the menu. Thank you friends at the Hound - hit the spot.

The wings were wayyy too big and felt undercooked, and the bacon flight was unremarkable. The entrees were also okay. The best was the shrimp and grits which I would return on this dish only. Evrything was just too too salty. My palate was ruined after a while. The rest were just okay, but I did like the greens. Standout was that bread pudding. Quick and easy ordering and delivery of food. Also positive. Now the food is ridiculous in size. That is also great for college students and I love that you can build your own burrito. That said, again from a Californian that is in Los Angeles county, this is not at all what I consider Mexican food as far as flavor. I did not have high expectations though. We were not planning to come here but the options were limited and it was for dinner for three hungry individuals that had a three and a half hour flight delay and missed our reservation to a yummy place. One of my menu items simply didn't taste right to me. I politely sent it back and even offered to pay for a replacement because I never expect something for free. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the manager (Luis) returned to our table and told me that he had tasted the item I ordered and that it tasted fine to him. Everyone's taste buds are different, and whether he agreed with my opinion wasn't really the issue. Good customer service is about listening to your customers and treating them with respect, even when you don't agree with them. The entire interaction felt unnecessary and unprofessional, and it turned what should have been an enjoyable meal into a frustrating experience. My friends and I paid for what we had ordered...didn't eat...and left, never to return again.
