Durango's is great! The service is always very good. They are quick to seat you and take your order. Everything I have eaten there has always been good. The quality of the food has always been excellent for us each time we have visited or ordered takeout. We have tried other Mexican restaurants in the area but none compare to Durango's. It is always very clean and as for the ambiance everyone around always seems to enjoy their time there. They must agree the food is good because normally I don't see anything left on the plate. I came to Durango's to try to enjoy a meal, but I couldn't. Sadly, their salsa was like a tomato cut up in water, and their chips tasted like they had been left out all day, and I couldn't see a possible explanation for why they would've been when this place had one customer since we've been here. Their queso was good, but their cheese quesadilla had a hair in it, and I was overly done with that place. I wouldn't go back if it wasn't for my girlfriend, but still, I can see why nobody else comes. This place was really subpar surprised it has stayed in business for this long. Just came from this place about 3 hours ago. I ordered carne asada and the person that I was with ordered chicken soft tacos. First thing they did was bring out a bowl of chips and salsa. The basket of chips was little bitty small pieces. Look like it came from the bottom of the bag. The salsa was cheap tasting. The chicken soft tacos had nothing but shredded chicken and cheese on a tortilla. The carne asada that I had was overcooked, whatever they seasoned it with was overpowering and cheap tasting. Games and the rice were bland. Might as well have been paper. Corn tortillas were dry. Anybody that tells you this place has good Mexican food, has never had good Mexican food. read more

This little building is located one street away from Tiger Town so unless if you're in that particular area of Tiger Town, it's easy to miss. Strangely, I seem to be the only person who had trouble finding this place since its parking lot was full of guests. The service here is really good. It helps that there was no language barrier here like I had experienced in several other Mexican restaurants in Auburn. I ordered their supreme burrito and it looked more like a wet burrito. Everything about it was inside out. The ground beef meat was on the inside while the lettuce, sauce, and tomatoes were on the outside. That was a pleasant surprise but it didn't deter me from enjoying the meal. Because it basically was a burrito, utensils are necessary to enjoy this mush. So i'm from Texas and not only do I know good tex-mex i know good Mexican. Durango's serves neither and it's sooo confusing to me how this place got 4-stars. Possibly because "Alabamians" have the palate of steers and eat cud on a regular basis..whatever the reason this place is crap. The salsa was straight from a jar out of the fridge and was ice cold. It was even sweet. WTF? The chips fresh out the bag. That's not so bad but at least try to fool me by providing good salsa. I ordered the diabla Cameron. I was expecting large succulent shrimp atop a bed of hot seasoned Mexican rice and maybe even some warm flour tortillas..I was served frozen spicy shrimp served with mushy brown rice. Not a tortilla in sight! I should have known something was wrong when I walked in a didn't smell anything cooking but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt..I shouldn't have. When I walked to the restroom I saw one of the line "cooks" sitting down playing candy crush on his phone..he was obviously not busy cooking. The margarita was a sweet mess and I had to pinch my nose and chug it just to keep from wasting it.. simply Awful. Luckily my cousin ordered a bucket of beers and I washed everything down with a Sol. You may ask why I didn't just send it back if I wasn't happy and the reason is because I would have had a hard time explaining to them what was wrong with the food and beverage as it has 4stars on here (Yelp) Apparently there are people in this world who could care less about quality food and you can find those people at Durangos. I literally grew up right down the street from here and never tried the food. Not sure why i was so skeptical, but years later my sister took me there for lunch. The food was so good and the prices were even better. I would have given it 5 stars but our waiter seemed to be new and in training. He had no one helping him. Went here to celeb getting a new job with my boyfriend, we were seated relatively quick and the waitress was super polite. Once we got our food and started eating the food was ok but nothing special. About 1/3 of the way in I found a bug in my rice. We flagged someone down (I assume an owner) and notified him of the situation. He just picked up the plate, squinted at it for a moment, made a disgusted noise and then asked if I would like anything else. I said no and he said he'd comp it and bring the check for my boyfriend's meal. He couldn't even finish it because who would after someone else just found A BUG on their plate? It took them at least 10 more minutes just to bring the check and you could hear the owner yelling in the kitchen from the other side of the dining room. I personally would never go back. read more

There has never been a time that I've wanted to be able to rate "0" stars more than now. This is the WORST food I have eaten in Alabama. The food is just awful. We've been back a few times in an effort to give the benefit of the doubt, and that was a mistake. The "cheese" in the quesadilla is disgustingly fake tasting. The queso dip is similar. The tortillas were bland, and the steak incredibly salty and over-marinated. Fajitas were bland, and the chicken dry. Taco salad was covered in fatty, Taco Bell-like ground beef. The only thing we've had that was good is their salsa. The chips and salsa are a strong start, and taste fresh and flavorful. Save your self the disappointment and indigestion and just go down the road a little to El Patron. While it's not the best Mexican food you will ever eat, it is lightyears ahead of this absolutely awful restaurant. read more

The best Mexican food in the Auburn/Opelika area. Girlfriend and I went for the second time the other night, and everything was very good. Thursday night Chicken Fajitas special for 6.25 cannot be beat. Durango is a little more expensive than other Mexican restaurants in the area, but the quality is well worth it. Friendly service, and the place is clean. I'll pay a little more simply because I don't feel like sitting in a dump. (Acapulco's, Cancun, etc.) read more
