Mi Poblanita Super Market - Green pozole with many of the fixings. It also comes with lettuce and a large stack of tostadas.

Mi Poblanita has an AMAZING green pozole/posole! It's a spicy chicken and hominy soup…read more When I first saw pozole on the menu, I expected to revisit New Mexico through the flavor, but I'd never had pozole this good before! They serve it with what's pictured here and more--avocado slices, onions, lime wedges, chopped radishes, lettuce, and tostadas--presumably so you can spoon the chicken and hominy onto the tostadas with the other sides. But I generally just eat it as soup, as I did when I lived in New Mexico. I asked them to skip the lettuce, which is why you don't see it in the picture. I didn't think to move the tostadas into view. Also, that bowl is deep. I couldn't finish my meal. I've had their barbacoa tacos before, and they were good. My husband just had the bistec (sp?), which was also good. As he said, he'd like to try their whole menu. I've ordered the pozole multiple times. I'm in a rut, but what a wonderful rut to be in. It's a great hole-in-the-wall restaurant where you order at the counter, they bring it to your table, and you go back to the counter to pay. If I recall correctly, there may not be a spot on the credit card receipt for a tip, so I tip in cash. (My husband paid by credit card last time, so I didn't see if there was a place to tip, but we tipped in cash as usual.) If you're looking for Americanized south-of-the-border food, this isn't it. If you're open to something delicious that's a bit different than your experience, Mi Poblanita IS it!
