Finally…read moregot the chance to try it, and I don't know if the built up anticipation caused me to expect more or the restaurant just didn't meet some minimum standards. The host who sat us was friendly enough. The restaurant is spacious with the expected Mexican decorations. Our table was not clean, and the host didn't notice. I asked the next person who came by to clean it, and she was happy to do it. It gave me hope that this was a minor issue, and we'd enjoy the rest. Unfortunately, it was the least of the issues. The server kept forgetting things we asked for and disappeared. We never got a refill on anything. He came back and apologized, but it seemed disingenuous. We were happy to leave, and unfortunately, we might not return - at least until we forget about this experience. Like: Quesadilla (flavorful steak, but one side did not have any on it); cheese dip (didn't get a refill on chips) Dislike: Hawaiian fajitas (great flavor; steak was tough with gristles); service (kept forgetting things, didn't refill anything, disappeared)

The menu was disappointing kind of big but it was a more Americanized version of Mexican food and I was looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant for dinner. The photos of the food are of more authentic dishes, but when you come in, read the descriptions on the items you realize that the owners have pretty much designed or reimagined all the dishes but for an more American target audience - not a bad thing for them but not the experience I wanted. I order the flautas (rolled tacos) 4 came with the order, guac & sour cream plus lettuce and tomato (I asked for them to leave that off I wasn't going to eat it anyway) no rice or beans I had to order that extra (‍) My son ordered a French fry appetizer My mom a chicken & steak plate. The chips & salsa were ok. Salsa lacked any real spice or flavor it tasted like tomato and oregano. I didn't have any. I ordered an horchata & it was fresh & delicious & the mug it came in was also pretty cool looking. My son really enjoyed his fried zero complaints there they had queso, chorizo & pico on them. My mom enjoyed her plate as well. My food was "ok" the meat in my flautas lacked seasoning & they were extremely greasy. The guacamole was tasteless & looked very unappealing so I didn't eat that, the rice & beans were very good delicious actually, the rice was probably my favorite part of my meal. Overall good definitely not terrible just not terribly authentic maybe somewhere in the middle.

We just went 11/29 at about 6:00 and I just don't know what happened to my favorite Mexican restaurant. I'm just so sad and disappointed!! Was it from the recent closing and reopening that things had to change? I just don't know. So when we walked in, it smelled of Fabuloso cleaning product. Why do Mexican restaurants use Fabuloso at all to clean?? Like I knew I would be tasting that while I ate, and I was right. That's all I could smell and taste. Next the table was crusty. They came to clean and what a surprise, Fabuloso. Food was okay. My meat wasn't really hot. The tortilla chips tasted of rank oil. Like the oil they cook the chips in needs to be changed. We didn't even finish the basket and we can eat some chips and salsa. My husband went to the bathroom and he said the bathroom was disgusting. They clearly didn't use the Fabuloso in there. We were in and out in 30 mins. It was the most disappointing meal. Also did take my meat home and when I got home my whole bag and napkins smelled like Fabuloso. I ended up trashing the whole meal. I don't know if I'll go back after this. I'm so sad because I loved this place. And if you're a Mexican restaurant owner, stop using Fabuloso to clean.

I did some research on Google and Yelp and found this place, which seemed to have genuine, legit tacos. I've had a good feeling about this restaurant, because I've never heard about it, not many people knows or reviewed it, but it still had good reviews. It was next to Winn Dixie strip mall on South College. It's also next to Panda (local Chinese, not Panda Express), my favorite American-style Chinese restaurant. I've always thought that La Plaza was a Mexican supermarket, but my friend who has been here before told me it's actually half supermarket and half restaurant. This friend also learned about this place through his friends, and only had their food by take-out. When I entered, there were only about 5-6 people dining: but no Americans. I walked up to the counter and the cashier/server took my order. The menu was written in both Spanish and English, but not all the items were translated. The cashier/server's English was very limited so I had trouble communicating what I wanted. My friend and I ordered 3 tacos (2) each, which you can choose the meat and also add toppings (lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes, cheese) for 25 cents each. We got 2 fountain drinks, and I found dispenser for the horchata, so I got it. However, it was my first time getting non-gourmet horchata (my very first was from NYC's Chelsea Market) and it was too distilled and sweet). Next to the wall was salsa stand with 5-6 types of salsas. I've observed how non-American customers were eating, and I noticed that they ordered the tacos by itself and only added the salsa, without all the toppings I added. When I received my taco basket, I was surprised, because I didn't know how to grab it and put it into my mouth. It was made with two thin layers of tortilla and generous amount meat and the toppings I added (which was all). Having a small mouth, which isn't very popular at a dentist, I was so frustrated with the amount of food they put on my taco, which was even hard to wrap around with the tortilla. The tortilla was soft and was not greasy at all. The meat was very well seasoned, so different from Taco Bell's tacos and Old El Paso's. It was very well marinated and the amount they put was generous. Each of the toppings I added was worth paying 25 cents each. I was sincerely surprised by the price, taste, and the amount I received from this restaurant, and I can't wait to come back to this restaurant.
