I'd read so many glowing reviews about Bandit Taco's breakfast burrito that I had to try it. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment from start to finish. First off, the breakfast burrito isn't listed anywhere in the store. When I asked the staff, they just nodded--no explanation, no details. I had to pull up their online menu on my phone to figure it out myself. When ordering, I asked to try both sauces on the side and even offered to pay extra, but was told I could only pick one. I went with the chipotle sauce, which turned out to be more like a slightly flavored mayo than anything close to salsa. I'm used to a proper salsa with burritos (breakfast or otherwise), so this was confusing and disappointing. Granted, they did say "sauce" and not "salsa," but mayo wasn't what I was expecting. The burrito itself was just... sad. The cheese was freezing cold, which threw off the entire flavor and texture. The potatoes were lukewarm, the eggs were the only component with any real heat (and even that was just "okay"), and none of it was seasoned--not even basic salt and pepper. I get that maybe the sauce is supposed to carry the flavor, but a little seasoning would have gone a long way. I only managed a few bites before giving up. Having lived in SoCal for a while, I know a good breakfast burrito, and this was honestly one of the worst I've had. East Coast breakfast burritos strike again. I briefly considered coming back to try their lunch or dinner options, but the lack of helpfulness from the staff sealed the deal for me. Place is really cute. Wished it had better (seasoned) food and service.
I ordered a trio of tacos for lunch: +Crispy shrimp - flavorful shrimp accompanied by pickled cabbage, salsa verde, and cilantro. Instant favorite! +Korean beef - slamming! +Chicken tinga - overcooked chicken. Ugh! The tacos were tiny and wouldn't have cut it if I had been starving. There were a couple of available seats inside, so I chose to eat my lunch indoors. Outdoor seating is available; however, it was way too hot to sit outside and the umbrellas that were perched above the tables did not provide cover from the blazing sun. I'd eat here again if I was in the neighborhood and in the mood for tacos. I'd skip the chicken tinga next time.
The food is really really good. But it's expensive. $4 for a bottle pop. Plan on spending $25 per person. It is nice tho and good food.
Honestly, this place is pretty solid. Their prices are pretty right, and the food tastes pretty good. I came in today and ordered an adobo chicken burrito. I'm not going to lie, it slaps. The chicken is really flavorful. The portion size is amazing. Even though I didn't get beans, I got extra rice. The rice isn't overly seasoned, but it has enough flavor that it compliments the chicken. This tastes so much better than what you're going to get from aChipotle. Much more authentic, and dare I say more fresh? I also ordered elote. Not going to lie, it was a little underwhelming. I'm used to really heavily covered corn with flavor. This left me a little unsatisfied. However, the burrito more than made up for it. The corn was five dollars. The burrito was 10, plus roughly 3 dollars for guacamole. I also added extra cheese for like $1. Of course, I also picked up a Mexican Coke. That was three dollars. The ambience inside is very casual. You grab your food to go, or you order and sit at one of the few tables inside and eat. There doesn't appear to be a bar or any liquor. But again, it's a pretty quick moving place. The service was fine. I asked the cashier a few questions and for a few recommendations and she gave them to me. She wasn't overly outgoing, but she was polite and nice, and when the food is good, I don't need you to do too much. I would definitely come back if I was in the area.
Been here a few times and it's a good place for something quick and tasty. There's is an amount of variety for tacos and burritos. I prefer the chicken adobo burrito with the medium spicy sauce. There's not much seating inside but the outdoor seatings are great. Service is regular for what it is.
I've only ever ordered delivery from here, but we love all the food we've tried! My favorites are their tortas, shrimp tacos, plantains, chips and queso, and shrimp quesadillas!
Stopped in to try their Taco Tuesday deal and have been a fan of it since! The inside of the restaurant is cute and casual, and they have decent outdoor seating too. Although the tacos are prepared quickly even when they're busy, I recommend ordering online in advance if you don't like waiting at all. They only include 3 of their tacos in the $2.50/ Taco Tuesday deal-- usually the Al Pastor, Adobo Chicken, and Tofu. However, I've also tried some of their other tacos at regular price. The Al Pastor and Baja Fish Tacos are my favorite here. They were both flavorful and could be eaten without salsa. The Fried Tofu taco is surprisingly good and balanced-- the taco is flavorful and doesn't require salsa, and tofu is fried nicely. The Korean Barbecue taco is also good, flavorful, and balanced, and it doesn't need salsa. The Carnitas taco was good and flavorful but I like my carnitas to be a little crispier or for the taco to have a crispy textural component. The Adobo Chicken taco was flavorful but the chicken was a little dry and definitely needed salsa. The Steak taco was good but also needed salsa because it was on the dry side.
This was a great causal spot for tacos and burritos. They have ab extensive list of proteins. I tried the chicken burrito and it was honestly the most flavorful burrito I have had in a while. The one ding is that the ingredients weren't evenly distributed so I didn't get chicken until the bottom of the burrito. Overall, the service was fast and they had plenty of seating options especially on a Saturday afternoon.
They did a catering order for me and my nurses loved every bit of it. I ordered 15 steak and egg 10 refried beans and egg 15 fried chicken and egg 10 bacon and egg Not a single taco was left. I then came back for lunch and ordered the crispy shrimp taco, Korean beef & chorizo taco. All INSANELY GOOD! I just moved from Texas so I've been craving a taco shop and this will be my go to!
This was my second time ah Bandit Taco! The food was delicious, the first time was the breakfast burrito which was pretty good. This time though... I'm usually not a fan of shredded chicken tacos but omg these were so delicious!! They were stacked with meat too!! Must try and definitely worth the price!! Cute patio for outdoor seating and everyone is always very welcoming. I've only done takeout but my order is always ready quick and I'm always greeted!

uber eats some tacos to fulfill my 24/7 taco craving! glad uber had a deal with this restaurant otherwise wouldn't have stumbled upon my new favorite mexican comfort food restaurant in the dupont area! the yuka fries my sister and i agreed these are probably the best we have ever had!! perfect crunch in the outside and soft inside shrimp tacos were deliciousss! the shrimp was tender and juicy, the double tortilla helped keep everything in so i had a flavorful bite each time the quesadillas were cheesy but full of chicken and just the perfect amount of veggies! i feel very satisfied after this meal! not going to have late night munchies or that full feeling where you want to lay on the couch and digest! would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend and i cannot wait to order from here again! read more
OK on this episode of BIG SCHLIMS LITE POCKET MEALS I went to @bandittaco . With a couple of locations I went to the one on 1946 New Hampshire Ave. NW. Washington DC. Guess what?? This spot has...Tacos! The prices of their tacos range from $3.75-$$4.50 each. Now on Tuesday's...their tacos are all $2.00!! Wow!! They have Skirt steak tacos, Korean beef tacos, chicken Tinga tacos, Adobo chicken tacos, Carnitas tacos, Baja fresh fish tacos, crispy shrimp tacos, tofu tacos, Wild mushroom tacos, Barbacoa tacos, veggie tacos, chorizo tacos, and Carnitas tacos. They have burritos, quesadillas, bowls, and Tortas , with the same aforementioned proteins/ingredients. Nothing at this is over $15 bucks. That's why it's on BIG SCHLIMS LITE POCKET MEALS!! Ok so I copped their chips and queso to start (pictured $5.50), their chicken tinga burrito(pictured with black beans, rice, sour cream, and pico de Gallo $10), their Korean beef quesadillas (pictured with cheese, and peppers $10), and lastly I got the guava flavored Jarritos beverage (had to get that $2.00). The chips were extra fresh with that queso...they were decent. The chicken tinga (a shredded spicy chicken) burrito was delicious!! Much better than the fast food chain spots burritos!! Now the Korean beef quesadilla?? STAMP!! As simple as the ingredients were, that sweet and spicy Korean beef, set everything about that quesadilla off!! Of course the guava soda was Like That...always!! Customer service was excellent, online ordering was easy, this establishment was clean, parking is rough (it's near the Adams Morgan area of DC). Each item, individually, qualifies your Lite Pocket!! Give them a shot. That's it. #burritos #quesadillas #chipsandqueso #bigschlimsreviews #litepocketmeals #goodeats #delicious #stamp #jarritos #guava #tacos #bandittaco #tryit #thatsit read more
After an earnest conversation with some fellow Californians about missing Mexican food/where the best Mexican food in the DMV is (by which we mean: California burritos, shrimp burritos, basically Cal-Mex, sorry not sorry), I started getting an urgent craving for said food. Luckily, as fate would have it, Bandit Taco was right around the corner. I went in with a few Cali friends and we all walked out smiling, full, and satisfied. Walking in, it even feels like our beloved taquerias from back home with a simple set-up: large menu board announcing the burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and other goodies you can get; a cashier and transparent glass where you can see the food being made if you so wish; and a cozy seating area in the back with low tables (also higher tables and counters at front of restaurant if you prefer that). I saw they had shrimp tacos, and automatically craved a shrimp burrito. The shrimp they have is fried, but the nice young woman at the cashier said they could grill it for me AND put it in a burrito if that's what I wanted (shrimp burritos aren't on the menu on the wall). I really appreciated the flexibility in terms of mixing up items, which many restaurants are not flexible about, and which I can understand to a certain degree. So props and kind shout-out to this woman who was so helpful and wanted to really help me out with my cravings. I ended up ordering a chicken adobo burrito with all the fixings (it comes with lettuce, beans, cheese, and sour cream, and all for around $10 which is a great deal, in my eyes). Also, the burrito was super hefty -- really generous size. My friend ordered tacos which looked delicious and like they'd come out of a San Diego food truck. This place has these Californians' stamp of approval, and I will definitely be back! Really want to try the quesadillas next time, and the Korean beef and actually take up the offer of getting my shrimp grilled. read more

Got a few tacos to go and enjoyed them! I ordered the fish taco, crispy shrimp taco, and chicken tinga taco. The fish and shrimp ones were my favorite. The tacos are pretty small, so three made for a solid dinner. Plus some guacamole and chips, which were pretty standard but a well-sized portion. Fast service, solid tacos, and unique flavors made this a good spot! read more
The steak quesadilla was pretty standard and the guacamole was chunky and bland. The shrimp tacos are absolutely delicious. I've had the shrimp tacos at both locations and they never disappoint. The shrimp are fried golden and topped with cispy pickled cabbage. While the tacos are on the smaller side, three to four tacos will leave you satified. read more

This spot was recommended by a friend. I tried the al pastor and Carne asada tacos. They al pastor was very tender and I liked all the pineapple in it. The Carne asada was alright I don't like all rhe extras. I just like Cilantro and lime. I went on taco Tuesday and they only had two options for the deal tacos, chicken and tofu. I wish they would offer more for the deal day. The place has plenty of tables and space. read more

I tried Bandit Taco cause I was in the mood for tacos. I got the Skirt steak taco, the Korean beef taco and the Carnitas taco. All three where delicious. The interior of the restaurant was clean, staff where friendly and the music was perfect. Check it out if your in DC. read more
Got the crispy shrimp and carnitas tacos on a late Sunday afternoon. No wait, no line! It was great. Usually I see a line of people waiting to order. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and nice and crispy. Carnitas tasted very juicy and authentic. Both tacos had the appropriate amount of toppings, nothing too fancy or overly saucey. For the price, the tacos are a bit small but tasted delicious so it was worth it. They do have taco Tuesdays with $2 tacos so I will definitely be coming back to try that. Sounds like such a good deal .. esp in DC! read more

I've been coming here for years. Just august 1st they cut my corn in half, no problem. Today they lied and said they've never cut the corn for customers. Food is great but the customer service has declined drastically. No longer feel valued as a customer. Tried to gaslight me like I was making it up. Clearly they've done it before. $46.75 spent on LUNCH & cutting my corn in half is a problem. Food is great, service is not. Haven't seen the owners in years. Unfortunate how they treat another small business owner in the SAME NEIGHBORHOOD. "We don't do special requests bc of people like you." read more
A friend warned me this would be a mediocre meal, and it pains me to say she was right. I got the Korean beef burrito bowl, and it came with just four pieces of beef. The rice, beans, and pico de gallo are not particularly flavorful, and the beans weren't drained well, so the whole thing is a bit soggy. A bummer, since there aren't a lot of other lunch spots right around here! I will say that the space is pretty cute, and I love the patio. read more

Went in for Taco Tuesday and was pleased to find a $2 taco special that included vegan tofu tacos. I wanted to try the mushrooms but saw a menu picture that said they include dairy in them. I also got a side of yuca fries. I found seating in the adjacent room and the tacos came out about ten minutes later. They were good but I wish they did something creative with the tofu or offered a different vegan filling option. Their salsas are very flavorful and I imagine their other tacos are pretty good. The yuca fries came with a mayo-based sauce so I dipped them in salsa verde which was actually pretty good. When I was about to leave, a staff member who took my tray asked why I didn't finish the yuca fries and was super nice, offering to bring out a vegan sauce for the fries. I thought it was very kind of him and was overall impressed with their friendly service. The ambience is casual and the music adds a great vibe to the space! read more
This place is a really awesome fast-casual option in the admo/U-street area. It's Chipotle style but less big-chain and more local eatery vibes. They have some cute outdoor seating and a pretty good range of food options (burritos, quesadillas, tacos, nachos, bowls and sides). I got a carnitas bowl and a crispy shrimp taco. I'd rate the carnitas bowl a soft 7/10. I got the bowl because I read a bunch of reviews about portions and everyone said the tacos were pretty small so I wanted to fill up on a bowl and then try a taco. This was a good move, the bowl was a good size and their salsa verde was super yummy and helped fill me up and the crispy shrimp taco was BOMB 9/10. The only reason I wouldn't give it 10/10 is because it's pretty tiny for $4.25 but the texture was awesome and the flavor was delicious. Maybe next time I would get 4 tacos instead of the bowl/taco combo but I'm not sure if i'd get full off of 4 of their tacos.......... All in all, easy spot to hit up if you're in the area for fast-casual Mexican but don't like travel miles out of your way to come here! read more

I'm a Mexican food junkie! When I found out about this hidden gem.... I had to pay them a visit! It's super simple yet packed with flavor and options! On any given night this place is packed with take out orders as well as dine ins! We ordered pretty much everything because I wanted options! I'm so happy we did that... I ended up loving everything. The staff was super friendly and the place has great outdoor seating! My favorite dish was the chicken nachos! I'm obsessed with the cheese and it's made locally!! Major major deal: All the veggies are locally sourced!!! I was happy to see they have $2.00 taco Tuesday!!! I will totally be coming back for that. They have so many taco options so I went with the crispy shrimp .... loved it! What would really make this amazing is if they served fresh made margaritas.... but no liquor here. What's more exciting ... you can find them on door dash!! read more

I don't review things often, but I was moved to today. Yeah it is Cinco de Mayo, and I was real basic and decided to order Mexican food. That being said I was craving tacos, but am not much of a fan of corn tortillas (personal preference). I decided to order the chicken torta, and tbh, I'm sorry I've been sleeping on what I think is one of DC's more underrated sandwiches. First, this is a two-hander, for all the best reasons. The chicken was fried to perfection and did not get soggy in transit, which is a feat given the toppings. The bread is delicious and perfectly toasted. Fried-on mozz cheese, pablano crema, and guac yummmmmmm. Just a little heat which you can def boost with the pickled jalapeños, or like me, a little salsa roja. Bravo. read more
