The atmosphere is good and it was a nice day outside so the the crowd mainly was outside I decided to sit at sushi bar While the food was good it was small portions and was nothing to rave about. The mango in my roll was way under ripe and crunchy... The pink panther roll was good as well but 13 for a spicy tuna roll with peanuts on top is quite ridiciouls My miso soup was great! Bambou has been my "go to" lunch spot for the past three years since it's been a very short and very convenient walk from my office. Now I no longer work there, I'll need to find a new lunch spot. Bambou skates the line between lunch time excellence, but at a price that's entirely reasonable. I've never been for supper so don't know how those prices compare for value for money, but as far as lunch is concerned I think it's a great deal. read more

It was definitely nice to sit outside, and the service here was good when we came for lunch mid-week. However, the sushi was disappointing. The sashimi assortment, California roll, and salmon avocado roll were fine. But the spicy tuna roll contained tempura flakes that tasted stale, and the tuna avocado roll was extremely fishy (I couldn't finish it). We also ordered the crispy calamari and kani salad appetizers, which were both good. I would not go back for sushi. read more

I have been coming here for years whenever I travel from Massachusetts to NYC. They still have some of the best sushi and most creative rolls found anywhere. I would make the drive just for the tuna, crab and mango summer roll and tuna and crab pizza. Highly recommended. read more

Food was incredible and drinks were great as well. Dinner menu is priced considerably higher than lunch and I guess its ok but can be a little more affordable. Staff was very friendly, quick and accommodating however we had a situation or two where the server didnt quite understand what we were saying and felt she just said yes to say yes. Ambiance is fantastic and really a nice place for any occasion. Outside also has a stream and large waterfall which would have been nice if it wasn't pouring. We arrived closer to 10pm and the kitchens last call is 10:15 which we were informed of, however we felt very rushed and hovered over. Understandable however we drover 40 minutes to experience the food and would have appreciated a bit more time to eat. Otherwise this should be in every town, its that good. read more

First of all Tapas is a style of food originating in Spain, when browsing the menu, I saw no signs or influence of Spanish cuisine, please change your name. Secondly, staff was rude, I'm a waiter myself and have worked at top restaurants in NY. I sat at the sushi bar and ordered a spicy salmon roll from my waitress, seeing as how I didn't spend too much money for lunch, she slammed the menu very loudly in my face. 10 minutes had passed and the sushi was made, but left on the counter top without any notice that this was indeed my order. I asked the sushi chef if this was in fact my spicy salmon roll, he replied "THIS IS TUNA", in a very obnoxious and rude tone. I guess it had to do with me not being "white" (I'm spanish lol). I felt extremely disrespected, It also was my birthday and this coupled with the non-attention of the waitress nearly ruined my entire day. As for the food itself, the spicy tuna roll had absolutely no flavor and wasn't fresh at all, the chef should be fired and replaced with an actual sushi chef. I'm from NY and we have some of the greatest food in the world, this wouldn't even pass in a mini mall in NY. The entire experience was saved by a very friendly waitress who wasn't my server at all, she single handily saved my birthday with her cheery personality and processed my check, I would personally give this place a zero if it wasn't for that waitress, do yourself a favor and please skip this so called "Asian Tapas". This was one of our many previous "take out " dinners from Bamboo but in better times (no COVID-19 then) and, in spite of different circumstances this time, we felt safe ordering our meal and confident that our order would be delivered in the same safe manner. If you're going just for sushi, fine. You most likely will have a different experience. Unfortunately, my first time will be my last time at Bambou. When I went, they were unable to make maybe 80% of the things on the menu (not including sushi). Our waitress wouldn't tell us why, just said "no" every time we asked for a dish. One person in my party was unable to order because of this. I ordered shrimp dumplings (those were fine) and chicken skewers. Didn't think chicken was hard to mess up, but i found plastic in it and it was so under cooked I ended up vomiting in the bathroom, leaving my friend to pay for me with my card. When I got back, I was given dirty looks and someone said I didn't tip enough. I think any tip is way more than what was deserved. I talked to my friends who frequent here and say they only order sushi and it's very good. Unfortunately, I don't eat sushi. read more

We were stuck on the Hutchison/Merritt Parkway. Saw an exit and decided to hit up Yelp for a dinner recommendation to wait out the accident cleanup. Bambou came up... and well, I love sushi. The location is a bit of a challenge even if you are a local! We used our GPS and got there just fine. The restaurant is tucked into a quaint old mill with beautiful scenery at sunset. We walked in and were greeted and seated. Ordered up a variety of sushi and sashimi. One unique favorite - the wild mushroom roll. So good! The sashimi, all excellent and very fresh. Fast forward and over a year later, I have gone out of my way to get takeout from this establishment. We plan ahead and incorporate a dining experience into our travel itinerary now! The service is unbeatable and the sushi outstanding! It's relatively close in proximity to the Westchester Airport, so Bambou has really become a go-to place for me. I always say that one day I will try the Italian restaurant in the same mill... But who am I kidding? It should be noted that parking is not obvious if you're coming from the north side... They have a tiny lot that is often full but a sizable parking garage on the southern side of the property. There is a private lot attached that is a bit confusing to the average newbie. Very cool menu, nice dining experience. Note, only one hot sake on the menu but otherwise decent sake selection. The big standout was the Tuna Tortilla Pizza -- delicious (if you like carpaccio-style tuna.) Interestingly serving Roti Canai (albeit with only one small piece of bread.) Big plus: brown rice available for all sushi rolls. Unique sushi and sashimi combinations like kimchi/mango and "pink panther" (spicy tuna w/ peanuts wrapped in pink soy bean sheet, topped w/ crush peanuts). Avoid the Peking Duck roll -- not as good as one would hope (needs cucumber and scallion, more hoisin.) Would definitely return. read more

Went earlier this week for lunch. Staff was very attentive. I told the server that I was in a hurry and she recommended dishes that they could make quickly. Our friends turned us on to Bambou when they ordered it for delivery. I couldn't get the rock shrimp out of my head and craved it for weeks after! Despite the fact that we live only a mile farther, I was disappointed to learn they won't deliver to us! Only way to satisfy my need for their rock shrimp was to visit in person... beautiful, clean, quiet atmosphere. Sushi was super fresh and beautifully presented. We have brought our relatively well behaved (in public anyway!) kids (ages 8+) here but I wouldn't call it "kid friendly." This doesn't remain authentic hardcore sushi, but this is america, we just want fresh creative rolls with a lot of color, and it delivers. I ordered take out one Sunday night while visiting a friend in Greenwich where once I lived. I remember the Bambou food better than what I had. First of all, do NOT order the Chicken Satay. Instead of the usual flat and juicy pieces of chicken on a skewer, these are fried chicken nuggets (!) and inedibly dry. No amount of peanut sauce helped. Fortunately they credited me back. The Chicken Rangoon need way more scallions, too heavy on the bland cream cheese flavor. The pork Gyozo were good but there again, more flavoring of pork mixture would be much better. The California Roll was good (hard to mess that one up) as well as the A.A.C. Roll. The service is good and the manager very nice to deal with. Overall, the food is only so-so, but UPPING THE SEASONINGS A LOT would help the blandness. (for $35 expected much better). read more

My boyfriend took me here literally the other night, 11/12/09, as a surprise... it was quite the nice surprise. For a thursday night at 7pm till 8:30 it was quite quiet which was odd for me. They were very attentive and very kind. The food was so delicious. The decor was modern yet chic. I enjoyed the fact that they had regular wines from different regions. I had rock shrimp tempura with a spicy sauce (can't remember what the sauce was called) and my boy had sweet potato tempura fries with some sort of teriyaki'ish sauce.... i'm not a sweet potato fan but mmmm were those delish. Dinner was pad thai with chicken for my guy (he's not a big seafood fan although we're working on it) and i had a yummy chilean seabass in a miso glaze with bok choy, jicama and shitake mushrooms.... they offered me white or brown rice and I opted for white which my guy ate since I wasn't in the mood. The fish with the veggies were just so good and satisfying that after I didnt feel too full but perfectly satiated. Dessert was shared and the choices were so intricate and different that we had hard time choosing.... in the end it was flaming tempura icecream (or in lamens terms: fried ice cream). neither of us had it so we were dying to try it. It was amazing and the perfect crust... I couldn't even taste the coconut and i hate coconut! Definitely a must try! It was slightly more expensive but for two apps, two entrees, one dessert and one glass of wine we paid about $80ish which wasn't breaking the bank. What in the world happened to this place? We used to live across the street and frequented Bambou way too much- it was so good at the time it was our go-to. Recently we got take out and our typical order tasted entirely different- every single thing. I am guessing new owners or new chef? Sushi tasted grocery store quality, avocado in one of my rolls was not just browing, but brown, mexican roll was nothing like it used to be. Pad thai is off the menu too (I used to like theirs better than at my favorite Thai place). The final nail in the coffin was no wasabi with our sushi.. really? What a shame for Glenville. read more

So good! Had a groupon so decided to give it a try. Really nice atmosphere, cozy and intimate. Waitstaff were really sweet and accommodating. Definitely more expensive for an Asian food place, but you get what you are definitely getting what you pay for... The sushi was great, fish was fresh, and they have really interesting roll combinations that I haven't seen in other places. Tofu entree was great as well - tofu was cut in adorable rounds, so delicious and creamy! Can't wait to come back when weather is warmer and sit outside on the patio! read more

My favorite sushi restaurant of all. Having come here for years they have some of the finest gourmet sushi I've ever eaten. With delicious specialties and authentic classics I have yet to try a roll I did not enjoy. While I am particular to the Red Dragon and Rainbow I try to order something every time in order to diversify my tastes and find something new. The tempora is my favorite of everywhere I tried, with the fresh shrimp or vegetables never over powered by the dry flaky crust. And don't forget the fresh hot sake! read more

Was there on a late Saturday evening in June returning from a festival in NY for the first time. Being famished upon ordering we were served quickly and courteously. Menu was exotic, drinks and food were tasty and generous. Returning from a trip to the bathroom I was met by the restaurant staff as we were leaving. I was asked if I had lost any money which I had verified I had next to my table. (A significant amount I had come to realize.) This was promptly returned to me which was a great relief, ALL of it.
