The space is open, bright and well decorated making it very inviting for brunch. You order at the counter from the menus placed along the wall then food is delivered to your table. The various brunch items all sounded very inviting so I was having trouble deciding what to order. So I got a recommendation to try the Shakshuka. Not sure how to pronounce it but when it arrived it was just the right portion and quite tasty for brunch. It's a bowl with a red pepper sauce and feta cheese and kale along with eggs sunny side up. The dish is served with pita so you can do a little bit of dipping in the tasty sauce. To accompany our food we selected the mimosa service and bloody mary pitcher. A pitcher is just perfect for sharing. And the mimosa service was delightful. The server arrived with a bottle of Prosecco and small carafes of orange, grapefruit and blood orange juices to mix yourself. The food was fresh and tasty with prompt delivery of our food to our table. Not quite a full service restaurant since you have to order at the counter but still a nice experience located downtown.

I was greeted at the door with a small menu to precede the course themes and a glass of delicious sparkling wine. The restaurant was very warm, welcoming, and artistic. The mushrooms on the wall were stunning, and the themed pictures throughout gave it a down to earth feel. Everyone was so kind and the service was impeccable. I started the meal with a hot towel to clean my hands - it was this moment I knew I came for a treat. Each course was brought out in a timely manner, and explained thoroughly. The food was beautiful, complex, flavorful, and hearty. Each dish was crafted so meticulously. I could taste the passion for their craft with each bite. The drinks were also made perfectly. Overall, this was right in line with many Michelin starred restaurants I have dined in. I can't wait to come back and try the dining room menu. I hope that our city can support this restaurant and they will stay for a while. I'd love to come back for the chef's experience again when they seasonally change their menu. Thanks for a memorable meal, Wildweed.

The bar scene itself was very boring, honestly one of the least interesting bar dining experiences I've had in a while. The food was mediocre and not memorable. The only dish I clearly remember, and probably the only one I would order again, was the watermelon salad. Everything else was fine at best, but nothing stood out or made me want to come back. I'm honestly surprised this restaurant is getting James Beard recognition. There are so many better places in the area, such as Colette, Baker's Table, and most notably Grist in Dayton, that feel far more deserving and seem to be overlooked. It makes me wonder if Wildweed has some kind of connection or ownership that helps it get more attention, because based on this visit, I don't see it.

The portions for even a tasting menu were extremely small. My entee (salmon) came out not hot. Our server was not attentive (never once refilled our water glasses or asked if we enjoyed any of our dishes). Overall we were left with the question of: what is all the fuss about with this restaurant? We will not be back.

What's striking about the restaurant itself is how quiet and calm it feels. With limited nightly seatings and every dinner table doing the tasting menu there's a sort of orchestrated flow that permeates the space. Not to say energy is low or it's so quiet you feel self-conscious talking; it's just that nothing about the experience feels rushed or accidental. As expected, the bread course was phenomenal as was all the food we enjoyed! We opted for the wine pairing along with dinner, which results in about 1.5 or 2 full glasses over the course of the meal. The sommelier did an excellent job introducing and explaining each wine, as well as why it was selected to pair with each course. All told, a lovely experience and one worth repeating--and not just because the menu changes every season.

Normally, I find hotel food is just okay and nothing special, but Coppin's was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and our equally pleasant server quickly brought menus and asked what we would like to drink. When it was my turn, I happily ordered Coppin's Old Fashioned. I was the odd man out because everyone else ordered the Spring Manhattan. Judging by how quickly everyone's drinks disappeared, I'd say they were all very tasty. I was a little unsure about mine at first, so to make sure the quality and taste were consistent, I ordered a second, and it definitely was not a mistake. I ordered the B+G biscuits (which are made by hand according to server in the hotel) and gravy with an extra egg. Others at the table chose a variety of dishes, including the CVG, Cobb Salad, Bagel and Lox, and several other selections. Based on the clean plates all around the table, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My wife ordered a sample of banana bread, and I was fortunate enough to snag a small bite, it was excellent. After we had all finished, everyone agreed that my niece had made an excellent choice for her graduation celebration brunch. As my wife and I made our way back to Louisville, we both commented that we would definitely return the next time we were in Covington.

Ice tea and soft drinks were $3.50, All juices were extra. The only dessert was macrons and breakfast cake and brownie bites. There was no Easter anything except for a person in a bunny suit, There also was no lamb only ham and prime rib (poor quality). Raw bar only had shrimp. There were no lunch items. You could get an omelet or waffles or scrambled eggs in a serving pan. Bread pudding not what they called it (French toast casserole) was OK. They had simple salads in small bowls, small plain bagel with salmon and cream cheese that was set-up on the bar. Restaurant was half full at 1PM. Would never go back to this restaurant for any meal. Customers were taken advantage of. I felt totally ripped off paying over $300 for this (including drinks).

For my wife it's sll about the Goetta Van Fleet (macaroni and cheese with goetta and Grippos bbq chips) and the milkshakes (also 2 of my favorites). I don't know what's the best part of the mac and cheese is, but the 3 things work fantasticly together! The mac snd cheese is creamy and delicious, and the goetta and chips just set it off. The milkshakes have that old fashion flair to them, so thick, so creamy. If you drink your shake first, you may be too full to eat, but its such a good thing. I have had all of the burgers they offer, and you can't go wrong with any of them. Depending on how hungry you are you can get them as a single and you can also add a patty. My two favorites are the Nom Petty and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I'm a sucker for for a good mushroom and swiss burger, that's the Nom Petty. A lot of fresh grilled mushrooms, gooey melted swiss and a hot juicy patty. All fantastic goodness. I think, at least this week, my over all favorite is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I get this burger with a double patty. This burger has a spicy ketchup, mayo, pepper jack chese, bacon and jalapeño poppers. Just an explosion oof flavor. It's just the right amount of of heat for me, and it's just fantastic. The service is that good old fashioned family restaurant type of service. Everyone is so friendly, always smiling, and I never have to wait for a thing. I just tried the wings this week, homerun. Big, meaty, hot, bone in wings with homemade ranch and or blue cheese on the side. A can't miss. There is something for everyone. We love this place, I encourage everyone to to give it a try!
