    Sauteed Chicken with Vegetables

While visiting relatives in Dedham, Mass., we went to Bamboo for dinner. Our drinks were delicious. I really enjoyed the Asian Pear Martini. For appetizers we had vegetable spring rolls, summer rolls, wonton soup and hot and sour soup. Portions were large--especially for the summer rolls--and very good. For our entrees, we had the Polynesian chicken, sautéed chicken and vegetables (which was like Moo Goo Gai Pan), Garlic Chicken, and the Family meal of steak, chicken, and shrimp in a brown sauce. All were good and had leftovers to take home. We had to ask for white rice, which struck us as odd. Service was friendly and efficient. The dining room is large and comfortable. We recommend if you're in the Dedham area.

Very good food. Very classy ambiance. The restaurant is a little tricky to find and get to, tucked away in a lot next to hotel off the highway. They used to have a great buffet pre covid. The food is on the expensive side but very very tasty.

I find myself back again. Not specifically for the food, more that this is the best hotel near where I'm working. I should have read my review from 9months ago and not ordered the gyoza or at least asked for a different dipping sauce. Soy and sesame with chili oil would have been better. Also they were a bit cool. When I bit into the first one I looked for the server, but she was not around so I muddled through. I ordered the hunan boneless duck and asked for it spicy. It also came out cool to the touch and not spicy at all. In fact it had almost no flavor. I did send that back and asked for it to be spiced up. It came back and tasted the same. I asked for some chili flake and added it at the table. Last time I had the sushi and it has okay. Perhaps I should stick with that next time.

I like this place but the service was a bit slow. The waiter also forgot our spring rolls and they were on the bill. It was fixed without question. I like a few things on the menu so I'll be back.

Average at best. Overpriced compared to jp seafood. Tough to find. Friendly staff though. Chines food/sushi.

If I could give Bamboo 0 Starr's I would. We couldn't finish. Grey food---old rubbery shrimp, mushy scallops, etc. just don't.

Gotta downgrade them from my previous 4 stars to 3-- and 3 might be generous. Some highs and lows…read moreover my last 3 visits, but way too many lows to ignore, even as a former fan and defender. -- Spareribs: Until the past year or so, I regarded Tahiti's spareribs as top 5, maybe even top 3. No longer. The last 3 attempts have all been reheats and all looking like a scattering of random bones from different racks, with charring the only strongpoint. Some were close to cold and some were tough to chew. On average: Average, but formerly elite. -- Egg Roll: A rollercoaster of quality on my recent visits. Narrower than before, but reliably celery-filled and crunchy inside. The shell is sometimes crispy, sometimes bendy, as if sitting around a while. Interiors sometimes moist, sometimes very dry. Flavor has been above average every time. Overall, above average to well above average, though formerly near-elite. -- Lobster Sauce: I've liked the relatively new recipe that's less like motor oil and more on the light side with whole black beans in the mix. But the most recent one was bland and watery. Still good enough to be average, but formerly near-elite. -- Sweet and Sour Chicken: Fingers merely flirting with crisp and typically low meat-to-batter ratio. Unusual topping of onions, peppers, pineapples, and no cherries, with a sauce that seemed an exact compromise/blend of the typical golden and red styles. Sour along with the sweet, but subtle. A little above average. -- Pork Fried Rice: Among my 3 recent visits, solid once, disappointing twice. Fresh once and long in the tooth twice, and varying levels of bland all 3 times. Minimal pork nuggetry. Typically lukewarm. Overall, average, but formerly near-elite. -- Orange Beef: Nice mix of sweet and tart (caramelly along with the orange), good crunch, and good quantity and thickness of the tender beef slices. Very solid dish, and it even rivals Bernard's version, which is saying a lot. A rare bright spot among recent visits. Seems like this place is mailing it in lately, as if they're knowingly cutting corners and sacrificing repeat dining business because their real money comes from the bar. It's a shame, because I used to be a big fan.

Did a lunch visit with a friend, going our own way with lunch combos and adding a couple of full-order appetizers. -- Spareribs on the Bone: St Louis cut ribs with ruby red glaze, just a bit of char, and a clear honey glaze to sweeten things further. Not the meatiest, not the juiciest, and not the most tender, but they got the job done, thanks to the very pleasing flavor. These have the potential to be stellar at night. As sampled, above average to well above average, even with the flaws. -- Egg Rolls: Extra crunchy exterior and a soft, stringy assortment of both cabbage and celery for greenery, accented with pork. Above average. -- Chicken Wing (the included appetizer on a combo): Not dark of skin, but still crispy. A bit dry. Kinda plain, with discernible but light marinade. Average to slightly below average. -- Hot and Sour Soup: Not many mushrooms or other fillers. Mostly thick, weirdly gloppy broth and some scallions. Spice present, flavors good, textures not so good. Balances out to average. -- Szechuan Style Chicken with Peanuts: Other than having the two ingredients listed in the name, it didn't seem like similarly named dishes or kung pao. Pea pods standing in for celery. Chicken was high quality and the flavors were appealing, with spice coming through and a hoisin-equestrian undercurrent adding depth. A little above average even if different. -- General Gao's Chicken: My friend's lunch combo. He said it was heavy on the breading and had one-note sweetness. A mixed bag, but a worthy visit if you need something in the area. Lunch specials at $11.95 have a more than fair amount of food, so a good value. But it's those spareribs that'll bring me back. Attentive service. Parking in back of the building.

We ordered 3 combination plates with sesame chicken, crab Rangoon, and pork fried rice, 2 combination plates with general tso chicken, crab Rangoon, and chicken fried rice, one large order of tostones, and one large order of chicken wings for $108. The food was ready after about 15 minutes and was still warm after 30 minutes when we were ready to eat. We all agreed that the food was less greasy than most Chinese food places. Also, the wings were really crispy and tasted fresh. The rice was really good, and surprisingly I did prefer the chicken fried rice. I liked the general tso chicken more than the sesame chicken since it had a bit of spice and more flavor, whereas the sesame chicken was just sweet. I did wish the breading was crispier, but I think it was just because it was take out and about a 20 minute drive. The crab rangoons were good but they did need just a little more filling for my liking. The tostones would have been a lot better right out the oil but it did bring a lot in the order. Overall, I was very satisfied with the portion sizes, flavor, and cost.
