Good sushi. Bad service. I keep coming back and I am often disappointed. Need to improve customer service and awareness. The restaurant lacks ambiance and many of the staff lack customer service skills. I ordered take out hoping to avoid the poor service issue and I count not. Told to pick up order in 20-25 minutes. After arriving after 25 minutes I waited another 30 minutes. I when I first got there, I was told it will be a few more minutes. After a few more minutes I was told they only have 3 sushi chefs working and another order came in. After 20 minutes, they avoided me until order was ready. No communication or apology. If they knew it was going to be a long wait, why not offer my a drink at the bar, through in a few app. Do something to show you appreciate my $130 sushi order. It was a Monday night at 8:00pm If you do go, either sit in bar area or at the sushi bar. Sushi is really good, just lower expectation on the dine in or take out experience. read more

I have not been here in awhile. Actually I was there for their luncheon buffet on Christmas Day not only was the price right but the food was plentiful and absolutely delicious. It was definitely worth the 15 to 20 minute drive upon recommendation of others I'll be back there again. read more

While I always enjoy the food at Bamboo I have to say I am very disappointed in the service I received on Sunday. I was having company and placed the order on Saturday to pickup up for Sunday and it was done online and paid for to save me time. I arrived on Sunday at the time I asked for for pick up and this man asked my name, and then he said you ordered online I said yes, he then tells me they didn't put the order in yet. He said he couldn't put it in until Sunday and I said well it's 1:30 and you opened at 11:30. I don't understand why it wasn't put in? He had no answer and he said it will be like 10 min and I said it's 200 worth of food we both know it's not going to done in 10 minutes. He says do want to cancel? Why would I want to cancel I am here picking up for company. I'll put it in now. I wanted another 30 minutes and no apology. I am not someone who looks for anything free, but he didn't even offer maybe a discount for the inconvenience or even a drink while I waited...just 10 minutes... and to top it off the order was wrong of course it was it was rushed and that's what I was trying to avoid by ordering the day before. Very disappointed in the service. It's just not right, weather I spend 50 dollars or 200 I should be treated correctly. read more

I've experienced the buffet on a Sunday evening and also have had food off the menu. Buffet: AMAZING! Everything was delicious and fresh. My only negative thing was the chicken wings and chicken fingers were not the best to me but everything else was delicious and made up for it. The lobster, shrimp, and crab Rangoon are to die for. I highly recommend trying your hardest to get to the buffet! Menu: the menu items I had were their wonton soup, bo bo platter ( I am not sure if that was the name but it's equivalent to a pu pu platter) and fried rice and lobster. The fried rice you can tell was extremely fresh even down to the crisp raw onions. The vegetable fried rice I had, literally had almost every vegetable. The lobster was good just a bit small. And the soup was very well seasoned and I enjoyed everything on the platter. Our food took some time but i believe it was because of it being fresh. Our waitress was attentive and kind. She was readily nearby when we needed her. The staff Is always friendly and kind. The dessert from the buffet was also good. This place doesn't make you feel like you went to a buffet. I tried to go to this restaurant on Sunday. Tried being the key word. I was refused entrance (along with other folks in my reservations-made party) because I had a service dog. The restaurant refused to acknowledge both the ADA and the Massachusetts General Law criminalizing discrimination of persons based on disability (which refusing access to me and my service dog includes). So while I would have loved to have tasted their foods and such, I couldn't. I recommend the restaurant revise its discriminatory policies before anyone go there. read more

We came in 2 hours before the lunch buffet ended and we thought they had already stopped serving lunch because of how bare the buffet was. The restaurant is a decent size but they crammed everyone into the bar area, our table was practically on top of another. This wouldn't have bothered me so much if more than half the restaurant wasn't empty. They were very slow in filling the buffet area and it was a very small selection. They food was ok but nothing special. We paid half cash and half card. Our server must have taken her tip from the cash and then charged the card with the balance.That really bothered me because I'm used to tipping with cash before leaving. I was very annoyed with that. Bamboo is this Chinese/Japanese place in Dedham next to the Holiday Inn. The three of us shared a bunch of surprisingly fresh appetizers for @ $35 and they stayed at the nearby Inn for a mere $87 thanks to Hotwire. My ghetto NY parents tried to order some "Missy" and "Wantaugh" soup in "Denim" but all is forgiven with light, healthy, flavorful food. The place is upscale and minimalistic looking, dimly lit, glass, subtle wall waterfalls, sushi bar, bamboo poles. I felt like we should have had our shoes off and be eating at a table at the floor! Think restaurants right next to hotels have to be mediocre afterthoughts like "Boodles" (Pukeles) of Hilton Back Bay, no think again, my friend! Assume restaurants that boast two full different ethnic menus are too ambitiously overboard, no sir, you will not get Bamboozled at Dedham's fine eating palace! We really enjoyed the Japanese Agedashi-Tofu= fried tofu dipped in light fish broth with scallions, grated daikon, and Nameko mushrooms. Oh those zany Nameko buttons! Tender and thinly encrusted fu in a salty flavorful soup. Besides this, we ordered some standards (my parent's version of dining asian is fast-food shack) and were pleased with it all. The spring rolls were fresh and good with the spicy mustard and sweet sauce. Let the spicy mustard clear your sinuses!! The wonton soup was nice as the wonton's were thin and it had a little spice to it. The vegetable tempura was very nice; batter fried red pepper, sweet potato, broccoli. Boiled, salty Edamame peas are nutty and sweet and, of course, rule. Other things that seem interesting at Bamboo is the deep fried shrimp ravioli, some dish that they serve in a pineapple, and I also wonder about their duck. They have moo-shi pancakes, a seeming type of omelete with dried lily flowers, things, mushrooms and your choice of protein! We drank lovely white green tea out of a medieval pot and my dad collected the fortunes from our chocolate fortune cookies. It's about time they invented chocolate fortune cookies for us American chocolate hounds. I always thought that was a good idea, that, and flavored Eucharists. mmm chocolate flavored Eucharists. BAM! The usual menu items but up a notch in quality of ingredients, preparation, eye appeal and service, combined with a creative bar menu. Excellent sushi (per my wife and son, not my preference). Reservations only for 6 or more. We always tip at least 20% and they well earn it. If you are a thrifty tipper you might get an earful from the manager. You've been warned. I was travelling through Dedham on a business trip and Yelp'ed for a great place to eat. Bamboo didn't disappoint. I'm usually not a fan of buffets due to the low quality required to shove out so much cheap food, but the Saturday lunch buffet won me over. I enjoyed nearly every dish in the buffet. The sauces and flavors were authentic and tasted high in quality. Even at 20 minutes before closing, There were at least 20 Chinese, Thai, and Japanese dishes to choose from, including a decent selection of tempura and california rolls. There are very few desserts, but I was not here for pastries. The decor was one of the best I've seen for an Asian restaurant. I took off a point for the hot and sour soup and the shrimp dumplings, which weren't flavored well. I will definitely return if I'm here on business again. read more

My boyfriend and myself have been here three times in the past month and have yet to be let down. We are very bug sushi fans and the selections here are wonderful, along with the quality/taste. In our most recent visit, we had a server named Brian who was absolutely amazing. He was so friendly, knowledgable, and all around nice guy to interact with. Everytime we go for sushi lately we have been trying something new that neither of us have tried. In our latest adventure which was last night we tried the Sea Urchin. Brian walked us through the various ways it is prepared in other places and how they were going to prepare it for us. I was skeptical and nervous to try it, but the way Brian presented himself, the product and the establishment was amazing. Although the Sea Urchin may not have been my favorite thing I have ever tried in my life (the texture just wasn't for me) I was happy with everything else about the service I was given. We also got the Seared Ahi (my personal favorite), the Yellowtail Naruto (we requested the chef make it spicy and they accommodated that request perfectly) and also the Dragon Roll. All were phenomenal. Everytime I go there now I am going to ask for Brian as my server. Bamboo, do not let Brian go, he is a HUGE asset to your establishment. read more

This week, I ordered take out because I was to late for buffet. Big mistake. 3 items -$30.00. Chicken wings - great marinade, over cooked, and dry. Tasted like yesterday's left over from the buffet. Beef skewers - inedible. Tough, and dried out. Harder than beef jerky. Singapore Rice Noodles - all ingredients were fresh, scrambled egg was perfectly cooked. However there was so little curry that it was incredibly boring and bland. I actually bloomed some curry in oil to make it edible. Since they are next to hotel, wonder if they figure they will never see guest again? Would still recommend buffet. Another $30 bucks down the drain. read more

They are charging more money for alcohol and food items compared to what is listed on their hard copy menu provided by the in-house servers at Bamboo in Dedham. I went there, by myself, for some sushi and a couple drinks. When I got my final itemized bill, I thought it was a little high. I asked to see their menu again and compared the charges on my final bill against the prices listed on their in-house menu I ordered from, and there was a significant discrepancy in costs. The total cost on my final bill was measurably higher than the sum of the cost of the items I ordered off their hard copy in-house menu. When I mentioned the discrepancy to management, they apologized, said the additional costs on the bill were accurate because their "new menus haven't arrived yet." There are no new menus anywhere, no signs anywhere, no warnings anywhere, nor any language anywhere about any price increase anywhere in the building, on their hard copy menu, or even on their current website. Neither the server nor the bartender mentioned any price increases during the ordering process. read more

We came in here as a party of 6 one Sunday night. The restaurant was kind of emptying out, but we had no trouble getting a table. We were kind of a loud and rambunctious group, so I am glad they put us in the corner. Between the cocktails and the appetizers, we were having a good time. Personally, I am not a huge fan of Chinese food (although I do enjoy sushi from time to time...), but I was with a group, and I figured why not? I walked by the buffet and it looked, quite frankly, scary. It just didn't look good. So I figured I would stick with the traditional menu. The staff is extremely friendly and the menu was extremely easy to navigate as it had all the "translations" and what-is-what on the menu. This certainly helped me, but I stuck with the cashew chicken entree, a cup of wonton soup, and then hubs and I split the pork fried rice and he had to the General Gao's chicken. Between the two of us, we could have split just one entree and we would have been fine. Oh well. At least I had some leftovers for lunch the next day. The food was extremely good -- it was fresh, cooked right, and certainly made-to-order. I didn't feel like I was in an MSG-induced coma at the end of the meal. Others in our party had sushi which looked awesome and they affirmed it was delicious, the mermaid shrimp entree (an asian twist on a shrimp entree), king crab legs, and a seaweed salad. All the food looked good, smelled good, and tasted good. And at the end of our meal, our server handed out chocolate fortune cookies. Who knew such a thing existed? All in all, I will most definitely be back. The service was great. Even though we were a large party, the table wasn't exactly huge and our server did an awesome job of clearing plates as we used them. I'm pretty sure she was the plate-ninja as every time someone put their fork or chopsticks down, she asked if she could clear plates. Kudos to her! Its hard to believe, but it is hard to find a decent Chinese restaurant around this area. Minus PF Changs because of this long wait times and mediocre food. This place sits in the Holiday Inn off 128 on Route 1 in Dedham and is very large similar to their other locations. It is nice because it is laid out tastefully and has both Chinese and Japanese with a full sushi bar, made to order. The menu offers traditional Chinese selections and cocktails. The service is excellent with a warm greeting upon arrival and fast and attentive table service. The food is quite good and if you come during lunch before 2:30pm, you are treated to a large buffet with all the fixings including dessert. The prices are reasonable and comparable and the servings are decent. read more

5 of us went to Bamboo for the Sunday night buffet ($20.95) last week. The food was decent according to me and "OK" by my Asian friend who was with us for dinner. They had a good crowd for the buffet and they kept the trays reasonably full except the lobster & crab dish (I suspect it got cleaned out as soon as it was refilled each time). The General Gau's Chicken lacked any hot peppers in the dish which surprised me (and it wasn't spicy). There was a good supply of sushi. The salt and pepper shrimp were good. I liked the variety. Our waitress was extremely attentive. I would return here again. My Asian friend made one very pertinent comment . . . she was the only Asian patron in the restaurant (and we were there for 2+ hours)! This is something that we had discussed a few times in the past . . . our favorite Asian restaurant always has 50+% Asian patrons eating there every time we are there and their food is superb. Getting into their parking lot is a challenge for those not familiar , . . go into Joe's parking lot off US-1, stay far right and drive back to the restaurant, otherwise you can drive thru the CVS parking lot or the driveway after the bank. read more

But i didnot come here for the atmospshe I came for the food and lots of it. The Buffet $12.50 It came with a choice of a soup I got the hot and sour which was not undelicious. I decided that I would walk down the line eating everything at the buffet. Not that great of an idea as alot of things had tofu in it (Im not a fan of tofu). The food was good buth there was not alot of selection. There was only one table with an estimated 16 choices of foods with a dessert/ sushi table. Yes they have a buffet with sushi. I was told by a friend to come to Bamboo and was not disappointed. It is definitely the best option for Chinese food in the area (They also have a sushi bar, but I've only ever ordered Chinese). They have decent noodles (not amazing), and good wonton soup. The real thing that keeps me coming back is the chicken and broccoli. I have lived in the greater Boston area for nearly 4 years, and this is the first place that I have found that prepares their chicken and broccoli dish in a light garlic sauce (as opposed to whatever that horrid dark sauce is that they have everywhere else). Now that I've found it, I doubt I'll be going anywhere else. I have also gone to the buffet on Sunday night once. Okay, but nothing to really write home about. read more

I normally have low expectations for restaurants at hotels but Bamboo has proven me wrong. I tried this place after a suggestion from a co-worker and I was surprised from the moment I walked in the door, the ambiance was much more upscale then I expected. The food is excellent and if you are lucky the wait staff will roll your moo-shi in the pancakes for you ( about half the time so far). I am usually one who avoids buffet's at all costs but once again Bamboo has surprised me with a better then expected food and cleanliness when I happened to go on a buffet night. Welcome to your slice of heaven. It's probably the best asian themed resturaunt I've ever been to. I was introduced to the place by a good friend and my band mate. We usually go there for Sake and if we have time/money we'll get some sushi as well. We went so often that they actually became familuar with us and quite fond too. Kitty and King were our servers EVERYTIME and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Theyre the most polite and happy people I have ever met. The place is VERY clean, plenty of seating and you never have to wait to be seated. (at least I never had to wait) The price range is typical for this kind of place but it's well worth every penny. I think I enjoy this place so much because of my own personal experience. Great place to eat though. read more

It gets crowded as hell at lunchtime though, so be forewarned, and definitely call ahead if you have a large party. Not a bad place. Above average for a hotel restraint but I can't say that I was overly impressed. Classic Asian ambience with traditional menu of sushi and Asian influence dishes. While the Saoi Mai was quite tasty and reasonably priced I was very disappointed with the Pad Thai with crispy noodles. This is purely a personal choice as I wasn't a fan of the texture of crispy noodles, but I can't imagine that many people would be.I might give it one more try before I leave Boston, but I'll stay away from anything that I don't know or trust. read more

I've eaten here 4 times, and it has been wonderful each time. The food is always fresh and tasty, especially the sushi, which can often be scary on a buffet. (You can watch the sushi chefs prepare fresh boats of sushi while you eat.) I think the prices are very reasonable for Boston-area eateries and for the excellent service--yes, excellent service at a buffet! Let that blow your mind. I've been here a few times for lunch. The restaurant is in at the Holiday Inn. Upon entering the restaurant, you'll see that it's rather large and pretty clean for a 'chinese' restaurant. The food isn't that bad at all. I've only been here for lunch and it's pretty much the same staple of food. Chicken wings, dumplings, broccoli and beef, sweet and sour chicken, lo mein, fried rice etc. The sushi is fresh and there's usually a line for it. They offer 2 kinds of soup: Hot and sour and Miso. These soups are ordered with the waiters, it's not self serve. All in all, not a bad restaurant, especially for one which is in a hotel. read more
