I've eaten here several times and it's always wonderful. The beer is phenomenal, I'm even hooked on ciders now. Plus that brewmaster burger is the bomb. You won't regret stopping here!!! read more

Great food, excellent service & 4oz tasters!!! This time we had the Elvis, which was a peanut butter banana brew --yes. might sound weird, but oh my goodness was a fantastic! You didn't teach much banana, other than they gave it a little sweetness to the peanut butter!! the grilled chicken wings were fantastic. Didn't need any other seasoning than what they put on their their salad is fresh and fantastic, dressings are all made in house from scratch! Love this place.!!! read more

This was a small town Gem, staff was great and accommodating! We were the only African American patrons at the bar and weren't treated any differently than anyone else( yes its a thing in small towns) On top of that im Vegan and they catered to my needs. We came back the next day just to patronize! read more

Sylva has a new best brewery! Tons of different beers (we visited in their 9th month open and drank their just-released 99th beer). Huge area you can sit many different places. We had kids and sat in the living room like area with couches and coffee table. The kids played their myriad of board games while we watched World Cup soccer on their 2 tvs and munched on free popcorn while sampling most beers at $2 a sampler. read more

Came to meet family for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by Balsam Falls Brewing! We ordered 4 different beers and they were fantastic along with their food! We had everything from a chicken salad wrap to the Southwest burger and everything was amazing. Also.... BEST TATER TOTS!! Service was also fantastic. You have to order at the bar, but they made sure we had everything we needed! read more

I don't usually write reviews. I write them for very good and very bad. Today, bad. Downtown Sylva for the "Arts Festival". I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich. That's usually a safe bet since most fast food places make decent ones. The sandwich today was horrible. Not spicy, tasteless in fact. Tomato was green and an end cut. No sauce. Basically tasteless. Very underwhelming experience. They did have beer though. Basically don't sell stuff that is bad. read more

Went today for lunch and had an amazing experience!! Food was great, people were awesome and super chill environment. 10/10 Will be back!!

Stopped in to check this place out since it's fairly new. What a pleasant surprise that being new they already have their brewing dialed in. Had a flight of 6 ranging from the 87 Blonde to the Bine Pounder IPA and all were solid. Great job!!! I'll be back. read more

The food was decent compared to how long the wait was. there was only 4 tables 3 of which was 2 people and the last table was 4 people that only got 1 dish. some people we were next to waited 45 minutes for food and others were complaining about how long the wait was. Some of the games were inappropriate and not child friendly. Not my best spot. read more

This place is awesome! Special shout-out to Sarah our bartender. She made some awesome drinks and had great service. I highly recommend you try this brewery for the vibes, the drinks, and the people. read more

My husband and I stopped by Balsam Falls Brewing Co this week for a late lunch. I tried the Tampa Cuban and Fried Pickles. It was excellent! The best cuban I've had in NC! My husband tried the BBQ Flatbread Chicken and he said it was very good as well. He drank the Chaucer's Rasberry and it was delicious. Food was great, drinks were great but service was about a 3. It took much longer than expected to get our food and it didn't come out all at once. The bar tender/waitress was by herself so service and attention to customers was not as good as expected. Overall I would still rate it a 4 based on the overall experience but a 5 for the food and drinks. read more

So, I went here for the first time... never have I ever seen more chaos in an establishment ! First off, the kitchen manager is very rude, he yelling at employees and even talking down on employees who are behind the bar (meanwhile I'm sitting at the bar waiting to order and could hear all of this) the kitchen manger closed the kitchen 3 times in the time span I was there because he couldn't handle a rush!! Never had I ever seen or heard a kitchen close mid day because they couldn't keep up with orders. Not only did it take forever to get my food but one of the male brewers forgot to put in part of my order! Not only did this happen but on top of that my friend first day was today which I came in to see her and she notified me that they decided not to tip her out! So any newbies looking for a job don't work here unless you don't want tips and want to work 9 hour shifts (without being told you're not getting paid). I work at another brewery and Sylva and never would we stiff our employees from tips, even on their first day!! In the end I asked one of the brewer's to speak to the manager, never did I get to speak the manager!! Definitely Speaks volume..good luck with you experience. (I will say the three ladies who work in the front and the 2 lads who work in the kitchen were awesome and have great customer experience!) read more

We have a child attending Western Carolina University and have been visiting the area a lot recently. We decided to try this place since they had food and beer. The first time we went, there were plenty of IPAs to chose from and a variety of ciders. We came back two weeks later and they only had 2 IPAs on the menu (and 1 was from Jai Lai in FL). The IPAs I had the first time were both really good and the chicken sandwich was good as well. This time, I had their porter and the Raspberry Oatmeal stout. Both were good. For food, we have had the portobello mushroom burger, grilled chicken sandwich, cheeseburger and the spicy chicken sandwich. I wouldn't go for just the food, but definitely goes well with the beer. The other area microbreweries seem to have snacks and food trucks, where Balsam has a kitchen. Will definitely be back when we are in the area. read more

One of two breweries in Sylva along with Innovation Brewing. Balsam Falls has a nice taproom and layout with a large bar and plenty of seating, both indoors and outdoors. We visited on a Friday afternoon and found the bar semi full, the bartender was very friendly and explained how they sold their beers/ flights and the like. Being our third brewery of the day, we stopped in just for a quick sampling and went with a flight of 4. Blood Orange, Hop Test #8, Bonas Porter and Ferguson Stout were our choices; everything was decent but nothing was out of this world and I would say the IPA's were probably the better of the styles. Some cool beer decor around the brewery and the restrooms and free popcorn were nice pluses. read more

My wife and I stopped in after spending the day with our son at college. I am not a fan of IPAs and was very happy to see many non-IPA options on the menu. I had a flight of wheat beers and all 4 were very good, followed by an Eagle Blonde that was also good. My wife had a stout and liked it as well. More surprisingly, the food was way beyond our expectations. We have been to several local places during our many trips to WCU and can say the food here might be the best we have had yet. Spicy Chicken sandwich and tots for me...quite possibly one of the best chicken sandwiches I have eaten. My wife had hot Caprese and it was made with fresh mozzarella and basil. Fantastic and highly recommend this place. read more

This place is awful. Horrible experience. The customer service is awful and rude. Chose any other brewery in Sylva for your own good.

Beer was decent enough, Hazy IPAs, ok stouts. The problem, is that if you don't have a car, you can maybe catch Lyft there, but don't count on getting one back. That's what happened to us. We got a Lyft there with no problem at all. While enjoying a beer, we struck up a conversation with the bar tender, she was amazed that we got a Lyft there, had no idea they serviced that area. She actually walked around and told everyone that we had caught a Lyft, they were equally amazed. So, after searching for the only Lyft driver in the tri-County area for an hour and a half to pick us back up, we finally got in touch with a taxi driver. We were 2.5 miles from the hotel, it was $25!!!! The Lyft out there was only $6. So, moral of the story, go if you have a car. Otherwise, plan on walking or paying a butt load with Cherokee Taxi. read more

Always down for an adventure, a friend and I drove to Sylva for an afternoon. This brewery is located on the main strip of downtown, easily accessible and has ample parking on the street. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The bar is HUGE so if you're a strict bar sitter like myself, you shouldn't have a problem finding a seat. The facility is super clean, well lit, and organized. Our bartender was prompt and knowledgeable, he even offered us extra napkins and whatnot for the food we brought with us. The beer selection was plentiful and appropriately detailed for ease of order. We had a stout and an IPA, both so good! I felt like this brewery definitely paid attention to detail and tried to make the space inviting across the spectrum. Oh, and there's free popcorn! What more could you ask for? read more

I stopped in to have a few locally brewed beers and lunch while in the area. Grilled chicken wings are hard to beat and even more difficult to find in a restaurant. Needless to say, I was highly impressed by the food and beer. read more

How can you constantly be out of your flagship beer? More times than not...uh we're out of eagle blonde is the response I hear. I'm done...

Selection of beer was good. Server was nice but service is slow and our order was pretty messed up. Once food arrived it was tasty even though it wasn't what we had ordered. read more

Sooo accommodating and delicious!! Kelly was amazing as well. Don't pass this place up at all

Visited for the Western Carolina game last weekend. We stayed in silver and found this brewery to eat at Saturday night. Awesome place. Very cozy and relaxing. Big TVs to watch the football games. Great beer selection, and truly one of the best burgers that I have ever had. The appetizers or so incredibly good as well. our table tried all of the different burgers and several appetizers including the pretzels with beer cheese. Incredible. Highly recommend this spot read more

The food was great. Even the smaller portions that we ordered for the kids are very filling and our little guy who is a very picky eater enjoyed his food and ate it all. There was a lot of cool beer options which were great. The atmosphere was great for everyone and the servers were super awesome! I highly recommend trying this place out and tasting their delicious flat bread! read more

Visitors in town and wanted to check out the brewery. Ordered two drinks (one for me and one for my partner) we had finished our drinks and were awaiting service - we wanted to order more drinks and some food. There were four employees all of which were not helping customers but chatting on the opposite side of the bar. Tried coughing/making noise to get their attention as we were not trying to be rude, my partner then tapped his glass on the bar to get the attention of the staff. To which the gentleman that was working there says "he is CUT OFF FOR TAPPING A GLASS AT ME" so we said, no problem just close out our tab as we had already waited 10+ minutes to which we were not being helped to order our second drink and food. The two gals that helped us were very nice after this incident but if you want a business to succeed during this time of pandemic I would definitely not treat customers this way. I understand being short staffed, I understand if it was busy and the staff was helping other folks, I even understand if we were being rude or loud. We just wanted a few drinks and some food to help support a local business. Best of luck in your futures and always remember - kindness is key. read more

This place is pretty cool! Their beer was pretty good and they have free popcorn to snack on. It was pretty quiet when we came, but they were having trivia later and I'm sure it was louder then. I feel like they might need some more tables and a few more decorations on the walls for ambiance (hence 4 stars not 5). Overall, not a bad place to come for a beer with friends. I recommend checking it out! read more

Balsam Falls Brewing - Coconut milk stout- was pretty good! - Breweries Near Me - Sylva, North Carolina

Wow . We wanted to try the food here for a while! We live in a neighboring town! We like this breweries 14 beer selection along with other local beer and ginger beer selections. For those who don't drink beer, there is a wine choice as well. We ordered the Mushroom Burger special! Hands down the best burger in memory!. Other burger selections on the menu along with specials, tacos, sandwiches etc. We will be back ! read more

Just made a quick stop for a beer while checking out Main Street Sylva and was pleasantly surprised at the quality taste of their bees and the home-town atmosphere. The owner Craig was really cool and described the new changes coming with a good offering and his homemade bar and eating tables made from natural and reclaimed woods. Worth the stop for a refreshing time after hiking and fly fishing in the Sylva area. read more

I'll start by saying this is one of my favorite places to come in Sylva. They have always been friendly and my family enjoys it. Maybe today I was a victim of their success, but was refused service because I did not have a reservation for trivia. I did not want to play trivia. I simply was a party of one, wanting to sit at the bar and have a burger and beer. That wasn't available or allowed. read more

Reserved well over half the tables for a trivia night 1 1/2 hours before said trivia night. Said they can't accommodate us. So you turned away 6 paying local repeat customers. Not a great business plan. Glad there is 3 other breweries in the town. Innovation for the win. read more

WOW!!! I started with the Elote (Mexican street corn) and I wish it came in a big bowl. For my main course I had the Blue Ridge Burger with a fried egg and the Asian cucumber salad. My wife had the Anaya's Nachos. Everything we ate was absolutely amazing. Everything is homemade even the sauces, pickled jalapeños and pickled red onions. I'm so jealous this place is in Sylva, NC and not close to my hometown. read more

I've had veggie burgers all over the US, from California to NY, but this place has the BEST vegan/veggie burger I've ever had. It was hand made and the beignets are awesome. Do not bite into them immediately, let them cool because they are made fresh and hot as molten lava in the middle. Beyond good. Staff and chef were beyond nice. I cannot recommend those place enough! Go now! read more

This was our second brewery stop in the area for the day. While not having the same atmosphere as the first one, it certainly has great potential among the shops and store fronts of this small town. They have apparently been open only a few weeks/month or so, but headed in the right direction. The wife and I ordered a six item flight so she could try a cider and I could sample five of their other 7-8 beers. A few were just ok, but several (Into the Mist IPA and Fergus the Rat Chocolate Milk Stout) stood out above the rest. They also have a solid selection of guest taps right now, but hopefully they will continue to add more of their own brews. Will stop back in when we return to the area and see how they do moving forward! We also enjoyed free fresh popcorn and several games of Yahtzee, which we had not played in years. Good selection of board games. read more

Watched the staff get run over by an unpredictable lunch rush. Nobody lost their composure and pulled out of it with grace, all the time providing the best possible service.
