I wish I would of read the reviews prior to spending a fortune... Went in to pick out a bouquet of balloons for my son's 1st birthday party. While holding my son in my arms I spent at least 30 minutes digging through bins to find the perfect, in my opinion, selection of balloons. I love small businesses and the disorganized setting to me was twice the fun. The woman who wound up ringing us up, was on the phone calling someone an a**hole when we first arrived and didn't give us the time of day. A gentleman came from the back and was very friendly and interactive with my son, definitely a bonus. My mother came in and the woman came to the counter and they started chatting about how long they have been in buisness... We explained that we didn't need the Balloon order ready for another two weeks, but should of been a bit more skeptical when she wrote, "our order, " on a miscellaneous scrap of paper. The total came to a heafty $97.00 for the hand picked balloon bouquet with a blue number 1 mylar and a mylar rainbow and mylar sun. I picked out one of every color of the rainbow in latex balloons to accompany those three. I should of wrote down exactly what I picked out and prepaid for. The day of my sons party I go to pick up the balloons and what she handed me was absolutely not what I paid for! It was a total of 10 blue and yellow balloons, the 10th being a half inflated blue 1 mylar. I was in such a rush and didn't have anything stating what I had already paid for. I did comment that this is not what I remember paying for abd the woman responded, "Its an order for a boys birthday right?" I attempted to try and remind her that i had come in about 2weeks ago with my mother and my son and that I had paid for my handpicked selection for my boys birthday bouquet. I said what she handed me was not at all resembling what I had picked and payed for. I was so thrown off at her disregard that I genuinely believed she must be struggling with what I witnessed my grandmother go through in her 80's and didn't have the heart to argue or attempt to correct the mistake any further. After reading the reviews of similar incidents, I at least see its sadly not just my situation. I think its wonderful they have been around as long as they have and I hate that the internet is taking away actual retail establishments. However, this experience made me very grateful that i chose to build a balloon arch and invest in an electric pump so I could have 365 balloons fall from the ceiling on my sons bday the exact way i payed for and envisioned! It only took me a couple hours a night for a few nights, all of those balloons were exactly what I paid and for an 1/8 th of the cost of my ballon bouquet gone wrong. Yes, they have some fun items and its close by but I will never pre-order anything again. P.S. the balloons deflated within a day of picking them up. Its been over a week and my hand made balloon arch is wilted but still on display. read more

I live out of state, so asked for photo to be texted to me when the bouquet was delivered. Received no text or confirmation of delivery. I have lived in Marin for 44 years and I know this place has been around a long time and family run but it's just horrible. this is the only place besides Safeway (which is where I ended up giving my business) to get balloons and the what the place is run makes my stomach turn. The is a hoarders dream come true! there are balloons and ribbon all over the floor, anyone that works there could care less about helping you and there is ZERO organization to where themes of balloons would be located. I spent 15 mins trying to find a single balloon for my 8 year olds party, once I found 1 balloon I didn't have the energy to try and find more to create a bouquet. For the prices they charge you would think you would at least be able to find a balloon. looking in the back "room/office" makes my heart race, I thought at one point maybe an employee was buried under the mess. I am just shocked that people enjoy shopping and giving there money to this business. Dont get me wrong, I totally expect to spend about $100 on balloons in Marin but NOT here! I hate to pile onto the negativity here but I have never been treated more rudely than I have been over the phone by whom assume is the owner. (Said his name was BIlly over the phone) While the arrangements themselves were beautiful they were pricey- something we were willing as a start up organization to pay for to support a local business. Throughout the process, however, whenever I would call to ask for an update, billing, etc question it would always be "what do you want," "I can't help you call back later," etc. And then today, after I've been waiting and calling for three weeks to try and get a receipt for a hefty purchase he just hung up on me. The customer service needs to be improved here. I've walked and driven by little party store many times. Last week, I had to quickly get a celebratory balloon and birthday card for a coworker, and I decided to run in this place during my short break. Wow, this place looks small from the outside but runs deep and wide. Cards for ever occasion, party decorations, balloons, and Knick knacks filled this crowded space from floor to ceiling. No customers but me were in the store at 3 pm on a Thursday. I mentioned to the shopkeeper that it was my first time in the store. She informs me this party store has been here for a good forty years. From the looks of the space, the shop has amassed party decor over time, some neatly organized in sections, while others thrown about with no rhyme or reason. Amidst their baffling organization, I found the perfect bday Mylar balloon and bday card immediately. Shopkeeper filled my balloon with fresh helium, commented on my awesome card pick, and informed me to rummage through a crate for party curly whistles if I wanted to buy them individually instead of a pack. Since I was in a hurry, I went ahead and bought the pack. For 4 items (card, balloon, whistles and bday plates), my total was about $35. Pretty hefty price for mostly paper products. Maybe I'll buy paper products elsewhere, but the bday balloon was beautiful. read more

I told them I would come by the next morning to collect the balloons. Not only did he treat me and my 6 year old very rudely-- I had to listen as he berated his mother, belittled her and insulted her repeatedly. She is so sweet and kind whenever we go in but the awful feeling her son gave us makes me never want to step foot in there again. Yuck! read more

I can't vouch for the quality of the products, as I didn't end up buying anything, but I wanted to share my experience with their lack of COVID safety protocols--just to warn anyone who might be visiting the store. One of the employees (I believe him to be the owner, but I didn't see a nametag so I can't be fully sure) was unmasked in the store. He spoke to me and as I backed up, he assured me he would get his mask in a minute. There was a line, and the store was small with no ventilation, so I stepped outside to wait. I then watched him carry out bundles of balloons to the company truck for a delivery. One of these bundles he carried by the strings in his unmasked mouth. I hate to think of the unsuspecting customer who received that bundle of balloons. When I went back into the store, this employee told me he could help me out. I said thank you, and asked him politely if he could please wear a mask. He then told me he didn't have one with him that day, so he couldn't, and then he left. read more

I wish I had read the yelp reviews before driving here to get a large basketball balloon. There is good reason for the low yelp ratings. I needed water balloons for my son's bday party. When I got home I realized I ended up with an opened bag of regular latex balloons (used) that was secured with rubber bands ($10.99). The one star is because I filled those balloons up with water and as they wouldn't pop when the boys were throwing them at each other, they were able to extend their playing time considerably. The woman drastically over charged me for the other items I purchased (my bad for not asking if I was going to be price gouged). I know we live in Marin and rents are high, but $8.00 for a bag of 12 party poppers? (Sadly, I bought 6!) Yikes. I will not return. read more

As I read other less than stellar reviews, I see I am not alone in my lack of satisfaction with Balloon Delights. At the time of ordering, Geri (?) the owner perhaps, was helpful & quite confident she could fulfill my request; though the price for 5 balloons at $74 was rather steep. At the time of pickup, I was pleased/surprised to see the sequin balloons were large and attractive - the digit balloons, for a 30th Bday were also quite large. When I expressed pleasant surprise at the size, and asked if they had any tips on how to get them in my small SUV and maintain visibility, Geri replied, "Everyone else does it, you'll figure it out." I found her lack of grace jarring, though slightly amusing. When I actually got the balloons home, I saw that the two digits were different shades of rose-gold - not tragic, but for the price...not thrilled. So, overall, not entirely satisfied considering the value/service of this business. Unfortunate. read more

The balloons were to be the main decor for the party so was very disappointed and poor communication about whether or not the balloons would arrive in time made for a very stressful experience and ruined my day. As an organization, we strive to use local vendors for our events. We definitely will not be using Balloon Delights as a vendor again. Not only was it incredibly expensive, but the staff was very unprofessional. They arrived late, brought a dog with them who they were not looking after and was getting into our food, didn't put things where we asked them to, and never came to pick up the rentals. My daughters and I should have known what was in store for us when we walked into this establishment. It is very chaotic and seems unorganized. My daughter ordered balloons for her son's first birthday, and was very specific about what she wanted. The older gal that took the order was very nice and wrote down the order on a scrap of paper. I'm assuming the scrap was lost because when the balloons arrived, the bulk of the order was not what she ordered. The delivery guy was super rude, handing over a tangled mass of 25 or so balloons. I can see why this place gets mixed reviews. It is quirky, and disorganized. BUT, the people there know where everything is and can get you almost anything you want. They have the balloons and party favors you might otherwise have to order from Amazon, and they know how to modify them and make them work for your occasion. They actually have better stuff than you can find on amazon. Try to view this as a Mom and Pop that has tried to fit everything into a too small space. In other words, it is not going to be as pretty and organized as you might see in other stores, but, they have everything, they've clearly been in business for a while, they will help you find what you need, and we should all support this local business! read more

Warning - PSA for parents! I am compelled to share the scary interaction that both myself and family had with the delivery man, Glenn. Let me preface this by saying I have never felt the need to review a business but if you are a parent, please consider this. I called this shop for my son's 2nd birthday. Ray, the owner, helped me on the phone and was pleasant and offered to order special lion balloons for my son. He told me they would be delivered the following Saturday between 11-12 as his party was at 12:30. I received a call at 11:55 that the balloons would be 20-25 minutes late. While this was disappointing, I asked my mom to accept the delivery while I ran to the store. My mother calls me 30 minutes later and asked me to hurry home as there had been an issue with the balloons. My husband and I joked to each other - issue? With a balloon delivery? Little did I know... I rushed down my driveway and "Glenn"was standing in my stoop, with the balloons, waving scissors at me and immediately started telling me I should have had a sign on my door that said, "babies sleeping". He didn't introduce himself, just started rambling in a loud voice about how "that lady inside asked him to lower his voice". I told him that the "lady" inside was my mother and I did not appreciate his tone. Meanwhile, balloons are popping outside and he continues ranting that the "guy" inside "was an asshole" to ask him to lower his voice. I repeatedly asked him to just leave the balloons as they were already paid for. Glenn rambled erratically for 10 minutes, using profanity. This man was over 6 feet and waving scissors in my face. My husband finally asked him to leave and I immediately called Balloon Delights. A woman told me that the owner was not in and to call back. I called the next morning and Glenn answered the phone and began to scream at me - another employee eventually picked up the phone to say "please hang up, he is not well" Three days later, I finally got a hold of Ray. He was nice enough and apologized for Glenn - who he admitted had mental issues. I told him I was appalled that he would send someone so insane to my home without a warning. I expected some sort of a resolution, refund for the popped balloons but nothing other than, "The next time you order them, I will personally deliver". I am a business owner and am shocked that Ray would send someone, who he admits is chemically unbalanced, to schools and personal residences. This is extremely troubling. Please use another business as they have no intentions of doing anything about Glenn. read more

Went into the store and spent 30 minutes picking out the exact colors and balloons I wanted for my baby shower 3 weeks ahead of time. Sorted them into groups and handed them to the woman behind the counter with instructions. I paid quite a bit of money for them while she scribbled down my order on a piece of chicken scratch...should have seen that as a red flag. Showed up the day of the baby shower and not only was the order not ready but she lost it along with the specific balloons I had spent time picking out. I get it. They're just a balloon store but the way they looked at me like "who cares they're just balloons pick some other ones" and kept insisting that I do so was rude. I would gladly pick out more but the entire inventory is such a mess and so disorganized you are lucky to find 4 of the same color in the same place. You're a ballon business that's what you do you would think you would take pride in giving people what they want and not just start blowing up random balloons and handing them to me like that's ok. It was a special day for me and even though they are just balloons I wanted everything to look perfect and it didn't seem like this business cared at all. However we did not get delivered what we asked for and when i called back to see what happened she had the nasties rustiest attitude with me when i wanted know was what had happened. I wanted to order balloon customized for my Save the Dates, I really wanted to support local businesses instead of order them online. Anyhow, I was told I would have them on a certain date... However, when I called to ask if I could come pick them up they told me they never got them made and didn't think to call and tell me. When I asked for a refund they were impossible and rude. Surprised no reviews of this place yet. They have a fantastic selection of balloons and party supplies and the owner, Ray, was very nice when I went in to place an order for a child's birthday party. Unfortunately, they got the order wrong (sent two extra balloons and one totally different from the one I'd ordered), and the mylar balloons arrived half-inflated. Two of them did not even make it to the party later that day. I've seen mylar balloons stay inflated for up to a week, so I think they must have slacked and just not filled them completely. Nonetheless, they are convenient so I'd use them again, just would be VERY specific about my order and inflation needs and pick up personally to avoid screw-ups. read more

On top of the that, the balloons/helium were completely overpriced, and the store itself was so disorganized we could hardly get the balloons out of the store! Year after year this fabulous family owned business has provided me with exceptional service and balloon bouquets which have been nothing less than works of art.
