This place has one job, which is to rent and deliver party supplies and furniture. Sadly, they could barely do that, on BOTH drop off and pick up, with the added bonus of mild threats from their customer service team of charging us more. A classic example of an out of date, out of touch business with no regard for their customers' own busy schedules. We took photos of all that we rented in case they further try and screw with us. And when I need wine glassware, party favors, plates/napkins, food platters, and all that good stuff... A Party Center always comes through for me. I recently hosted an event at a new Marin County spa and needed glassware, plates, and napkins for 80+ guests... and the good folks at A Party Place made it all happen for approximately $80. And if you think about it, that's quite a steal. I also used their services for a 20th high school reunion, and they provided us with us with much needed tables and party schwag. The staff is very friendly/helpful on the phone. However, I'd recommend that you check out their website first before placing any orders (it'll save you plenty of time!). Let it be known that I am STILL pissed about how terrible of a job they did for my wedding. Called me (the bride) a week before the wedding to tell me they wouldn't be able to drop off the rental pieces until two hours before my wedding. Even though my maid-of-honor had told them to call her or my mother instead of me, because I was so busy. They also kept basically lecturing us on the importance of not damaging their pieces, lest we be charged. Which would have been understandable if THEIR RENTAL PIECES WEREN'T ALREADY DAMAGED. They threatened to charge us for any damage on the outdoor tents - THEY ARRIVED AT MY HOUSE (LATE) RUSTED OVER AND TORN UP. There was DUCT TAPE all over the freakin' tents...AT MY WEDDING. WHAT. The tables which again, they lectured me not to allow my friends to stand on - yes, they actually thought it was appropriate to presume that my wedding would be the equivalent of a high school after-prom party - arrived at my house COMPLETELY COVERED in sticky cup rings. They looked like shit. WE HAD TO CLEAN THEM 1 HOUR BEFORE THE WEDDING WAS GOING TO START. They were just unpleasant and difficult and honestly, lied frequently through my working with them. Everyone had a different story for the policies and how things worked with their company. Since my wedding (August 9) I haven't had the time to go in to discuss this with them further, but I fully intend on seeing them soon and discussing how and why they thought it reasonable to lecture me on keeping their tables clean when they were going to drop them off at my house dirty and make ME clean them. Funny enough, their contract threatens to charge you for giving back their materials dirty. I wonder if they charge for the cleaning when they have their NEXT CLIENT clean it for their own events. If I could give A Party Center 10 stars I would. Right after Thanksgiving, no party center would answer my calls or help me at all, and I really needed chairs for a special family party. Each time I called them, they helped me every way they could, even loading dining chairs onto their truck even after it was all scheduled. They were that nice to me. When people help you out when you are in that moment of need, and do it with a warm heart and exceptional service, they DO deserve 10 stars. This is the place to go for personalized customer service. I've used all the big guys, and if they don't carry it, well, you're out of luck. The last time I called APC for something they didn't carry, Cassandra spent hours tracking it down for me. If I accidentally leave something obvious off the rental order, or order something that doesn't quite match the rest, instead of saying "Oh well" and making it my problem, both she and Jason have called me to confirm, often fixing problems even before I know about them. Their prices are about average - higher in some areas, lower in others - but you really can't beat the service. I'm an event manager for a living, and in the more than 50 events I've done with a Party Center, I've NEVER been disappointed. I live in the East Bay and do events in the city, and where I need the rentals, I will build a detour to Marin into my schedule just to work with A Party Center. read more

They were able to foresee all of the smaller details of what we would need for each element of our wedding, all while keeping our budget in mind. We rented furniture and dining service for a 55-person outdoor wedding reception. Cassandra & Corrine at A Party Center were very patient as we changed rentals over and over again in the months leading up to the event. The rental was dropped off & properly tarped for our outdoor event without us being there at all. Everything was again picked up promptly after the event. The quality of the rentals were great even though we got the more economical options. Everything was fairly new and very presentable. We did break & lose some things (surely this happens to everyone) and they were nice about it and charged us very reasonable replacement fees. I recommend A Party Center for all your event needs! I used A Party Center for the first time for a small BBQ last weekend. All we rented was a small table, 3 table cloths and 10 chairs, and they still treated us like an important customer anyway! When we came in to pick out the stuff, they even helped us look at colors for my upcoming wedding even though we said the wedding was out of town so we wouldn't be renting supplies in San Rafael. I was very impressed with the customer service. The pickup and dropoff went very smoothly. The table cloths were clean. The table and chairs worked great. No complaints! I liked the service. You can tell by the way that they interact with the customers that they enjoy what they do. All the emails I sent were returned within 24 hours (usually less then 10 hours) and all my questions were answered. They are very professional. I used them for a large bridal shower- This was more expensive then using paper however the impact that the pieces made was worth the expense. My bride was so happy and I was pleased with the service. My only gripe is the price for pickup of the dishes was was too expensive for a load of dishware that fit in the trunk of my corolla. read more

It was a joy working with A Party Center. We rented runners for our wedding tables. They had tons of colors and options, for the best prices I could find! The ladies there are kind and helpful as well. As our venue was far from the store, and we had ordered a lot of them, the delivery fee would have been expensive. But they allowed us to pick up the runners ourselves! In addition, they let us return them a few days after the wedding. We didn't have to rush back the day after, as some other companies required. Many other rental places will not let you transport their items yourself. This really helped us budget-wise. Definitely recommend! read more

Gals in the front office are friendly and efficient; guys in the back handling loading & returns are expedient but careful. Adding or removing items as the RSVP count changes has been easy, and I've never had a hassle with a return. I used them for a backyard wedding and paid for set up but when they got there we had to do all the set up including the lighting and after the wedding was over they charged an unauthorized service fee to my credit card stating "it was for a dance floor that i ordered 3 days before my wedding" when i had a contract over a month in advance showing the dance floor on the original contract. read more

We used A Party Center to supplement the rentals we got from our caterer for our July Wedding in Sausalito. We were able to get some more attractive items than what our caterer had, at a lower price. They were very flexible with me needing to make several changes to my order. They worked with me closely over email and sent me updated versions of my contract with each change. Very professional and helpful. When one of the items we rented was damaged by the wind, they repaired it themselves and did not charge us for it. Couldn't ask for anything more! read more

I went to A Party Center in August 2008 to rent tables, chairs, linens and glassware for a weekend of events (a dinner for 26 and a luncheon for 80) I was hosting over the weekend of Dec. 26 -- given the event dates, I figured it was none too soon to nail down supplies and make sure that they'd be open the day after Xmas. They assured me they would be open, and confirmed it twice more in mid-Dec when I stopped in, and again the week before when I called, to make a couple of minor changes to the reservation. So imagine my surprise when I came by, as scheduled, on Friday Dec. 26, to find a sign on the door saying there were closed until Monday Dec. 29. Ooops! Their response, when I came in on Monday to register my distress, was that it had been a mistake (no kidding?!?!), they were planning on calling me (?? my watch said 11:15 -- had they just not yet mustered their nerve?), and they hoped that my parties had worked out nicely notwithstanding the little mix-up. Not a single offer of compensation or future credit or any other gesture of good will. Heck, even KFC handed me a coupon for a free dinner for a minor mix-up in my $15 take-out order! If it is really important, don't count on A Party Center. Try Big 4 Rents in Corte Madera -- who came through -- had most stuff on premises, and promised to get me things by 8 the next morning (Sat) if they didn't have them in the shop, and the bill came in lower than A Party Center! read more

I used this company for my wedding and had a good experience. I was disappointed that I narrowly missed a living social deal, as I was having an event in Marin and A Party Center were therefore much more convenient (although admittedly a little more pricey) than the company in South San Francisco which I was planning to use. When I explained the situation, they kindly offered to give me a discount which made the price difference between the two companies small enough to ignore. An advantage of A Party Center is that they have a good range, including slightly more specialist stuff like wedding arbors and arches and cake stands in addition to the usual chairs and tables. I was pleased with the quality of the items I rented (it's a little difficult to tell from the website). I also had a good experience of customer service when picking up and returning the items, so I'd recommend this company. Really I'd like to give 4.5 stars - my only small reservation is the price: If you are looking for a company just to rent basic equipment such as chairs, they are not the cheapest (although still reasonable). However if you want to rent additional equipment such as arches/cake stands/ornate trays etc I think they are as good as it gets! read more
