    Thoughtful Tulips arrangement that arrived.  Not what I had ordered.  8 tulips.

    Look, I understand that Burns is a family-owned business and it's why I called them up and spoke to nice Kelly on Friday, 6/2. I wanted their lovely "Thoughtful Tulips" arrangement to be delivered on Monday morning, 6/5 --- in time for a Birthday lunch for girlfriends I also asked for more than the 10 tulips that are featured in a nice vase on their site. In fact, when I spoke to Kelly, I told her I'd like to pay for a bit more tulips and she can forget to add the decorative butterfly. So what did I get? My girlfriend emailed me this afternoon -- Monday, 6/5 at 3 PM, saying that the flowers hadn't arrived but the thought was nice. I was floored. What? I called Kelly and she explained that she was handling orders all morning and that she was just leaving to deliver flowers and that my order was the first to be delivered. This was at 3:15 PM. The lunch was over and the Birthday girl had gone home. Then, the hostess of the Birthday lunch sent me a photo of the arrangement -- and although I paid for more tulips than the 10 featured on the Burns' website, the arrangement I paid for had 8 tulips of different colors, because, I gather they had run out of tulips. Moreover, most of the arrangement is filled with cheap greens that, really, are pretty ugly. So, the birthday flowers didn't arrive in time and the birthday girl had to pick up her dog and didn't receive the present. And the bouquet of "Thoughtful Tulips" turned out to be ugly-greenery with a few mis-matched tulips poking through a mass of green. What happened? I gather that Kelly was overwhelmed and understaffed and slapped together an arrangement she felt fine with over-charging me with that was not what I ordered, or talked to her about the previous Friday and the recipient never received it anyway. Look, stuff happens and things can fall apart, but then you deal with it, as quickly and honestly as possible. You don't slap some ugly stuff together and have the audacity to then deliver it later than agreed upon. Moreover, you alert the customer and let them know.     I placed a order for valentines i told the person i wanted the same arrangement as the pictures she assured me that they will make it the same and well thats what they gave me almost 180.00 for more green then anything i asked to speak to the owner to try to fix the issue and they told me to bring the flowers back that i paid to have delivered to fix it? Lol really? (You guys want me to bring some flowers that were already delivered and in my gf hands? Smh asked for some of my money back atleast and they declined asked to speak to the owner ..but i guess she was to busy to handle my issue since she already had my money....... Last time i ever order from here .... (Supposed to be the best in marin) its all cap=lies

    We live in SoCal and have family members up North we wanted to send flowers to during a difficult time. Due to the distance we had to simply choose a location through a Google search, while also trying to ensure we were supporting a locally owned business. We could not have been happier. We ordered at 7am and they did same day delivery- with the flowers arriving in the early afternoon. And the flowers were absolutely gorgeous! They looked just like what was advertised online we were so pleased! I added a photo of what was advertised online and one of what was delivered. Thank you Burns Florist for helping us brighten our loved ones day.

    ***** (yes, FIVE stars! I would give them 100 if I could) Kelly and her staff are nothing short of amazing, all year long always providing a lovely array of choices. I have visited them many times and I am always greeted with a smile and a warm 'HELLO'. They have been there for San Rafael through a flood, temporary location, remodel and COVID, you just cant keep them down. I am never disappointed. Thank you for being here for us!

    I don't look at Yelp when life gets busy. However I have a policy of always writing a positive review whenever I feel the need to write a negative review. I believe in karma and citing the best of the best, at the same time I have to sometimes voice a poor opinion about a business. After two negative reviews of Burns, the owner Kelly responded to me, but I missed her comments because I hadn't logged into Yelp for months. When I finally saw that she was so apologetic and so upset with what happened and that she wanted to do whatever she could to make it better, I just called her on the phone and we worked everything out. Two days later, she sent me the most beautiful arrangement of flowers and I told her to be as "wild and crazy" as she could be. So she sent 15 long stem roses - all different colors,, even green, burnt orange and purple - and they were gorgeous and unbelievably filled with love and laughter! Kelly runs the business all by herself which is a huge job having to go 2 to 3 days a week to the flower Mart in San Francisco at 2:00 - 3:00 AM. And then she works all day, six days a week to deliver flowers to funerals, weddings, birthdays, Valentine's Day, and numerous other special occasions and she's doing it all herself. So when taking that into account, I have to say everybody should shop there. They are a 100-year old San Rafael business and I wish Kelly the best and I will do anything to help her succeed!

    I think I found my go to florist for when I want to surprise my wife or get out of the dog house. I don't know about y'all but I'm so tired of FTD or 1800 flowers. They fail time and time again. So I got on yelp and looked up some local florists. Burns had great reviews and they delivered. Their prices are also reasonable, not the cheapest but why go cheap on flowers? Candace and Kelly jumped on my order, they called to let me know they were out of stock on a couple flowers but have some suggestions to keep it in the same color scheme and price range. They also said they'd deliver in the window I requested later that afternoon and unlike the crappy national flower companies they actually did! We had a little hiccup with the flowers going to my neighbors house but Candace jumped on it and it all worked out. She even offered to do free delivery on the next order for the very slight mixup. That's customer service right there! More importantly Kelly and Candace are just super nice and you can tell they love what they do. I know where I'll be getting my holiday flowers and my wife loved her amazing bouquet.

    Funeral arrangement

    The floral arrangements Kelly created were not only art, they were exactly what I had imagined. I could not have been more happy! Thank you for hearing my vision in words and translating it into arrangements that aligned with the motif I had created for the event and that honored the beauty and importance of our loved one.     Called based on reviews and website and could not have been luckier to speak with Kelly! I had a very specific request and reasons and she far exceeded the request while understanding the reasons. The recipient was touched and very very pleased as was I when I received photos from them and from Kelly! Very much recommend to anyone! Wish they had six stars for loving people and the business they own because Kelly would receive that and more. Thank you from Texas!

    Kelly helped me choose just the right arrangement for a birthday delivery. I wasn't able to make it in to the shop, so the order was via phone. When I saw a photo of the finished product, I was thrilled - it had exceeded my expectations. Kelly is great to work with, and her arrangements are stunning. Looking forward to my next order - which I've decided will be for myself very soon!

    Kelly made me the most gorgeous bouquet for my wedding. It was one of my favorite things about the day. She did an amazing job with a challenging brief of "wild meadow flowers of California." She was very helpful and accommodating throughout and the product speaks for itself. Definitely recommend!

    This is the arrangement that I canceled for the same price to try and support this lady (Burns florist)

    Never again with this florist. This would be NO STAR if it were possible. Let me explain why. I've placed an order online yesterday for mothers day flowers. There were 3 options given for delivery dates (5/8, 5/9 & 5/10). I chose 5/8 and received a confirmation for Friday 5/8 only to get a cancelation email that afternoon . Not even a phone call or another option was provided. I called Burns repeatedly to find out why the order was canceled but no call back. Today (Saturday) I frantically looked for a replacement option since tomorrow is Mother's day. Found one and they were going to deliver it on mothers day. At 4:34pm I get a call from Burns florist saying she'll be able to do the delivery today. (Now do I cancel the one I've already scheduled?) I decided I'll do it to support a local florist. I made her (Burns) promise not to disappoint me because this is for my 92 yr old mother in law that recently lost her daughter. I told her I wanted a really special arrangement. Instead she delivered something that looks like whatever was leftover for the day. I had insisted that she goes back and pick up that tiny arrangement she dropped off and replace it with a better which she agreed to do. I'm very disappointed that I tried to be nice and support this business especially during this time and they tried to price gouge me. NEVER AGAIN!!! Worst ever experience with a florist.

She can tell you her name 20 times and you still will not remember her name. Family owned and multitude of different varieties of items. education and what's going on with the items that are for sale and vendors can come in as well to do consignments so there's a large vast amount of a lot of different items. Lady N does restringing for jewelry bracelets necklaces as well tennis racket restringing. I got a couple of necklaces done that I haven't been able to where cuz they were broken. Now I got a bring her some more to do.

We came in to this shop some months ago looking for a very specific incense, which is difficult (if not impossible) to find here in the US. The shop owner said she would be travelling to Nepal in a few months and would look for this particular incense at the grand market (she indicated that every kind of incense could be found there). I left my phone number with her and, quite frankly, did not expect to hear back. I WAS SO WRONG! She called me back exactly as she had promised upon returning to the US to let me know that she found the incense and had 10 boxes set aside for me. I was so blown away that she remembered and thought to call me. Of course, I bought all her stock in this incense because who knows when we would ever find it again! In case you're wondering, the incense is called Aparajita. It is the scent that the Beatles burned during their recording sessions beginning with the Revolver album. And, no, I don't believe they have any left, because we cleaned them out. :) LOL Also, I learned that in some cases the FDA won't sign off on some imports due to ingredients that have not been approved. I can only speculate why this incense is so hard to find here, but I do wonder if it has something to do with that. Regardless, as Beatles fans and as we carefully attempt to recreate "the vibe" of that recording sesh, we are eternally grateful that this shop assisted us with this search. A million thank yous!!!

One of the women working there made us especially uncomfortable--she kept following us around and watching us as if we were stealing. There was no smile, no greeting, and overall just a very unfriendly atmosphere. When I mentioned at the end that a more welcoming attitude toward customers would go a long way, she seemed completely indifferent. Update: The experience got worse--the staff didn't even bother to properly wrap a candle, and by the time I got home, it was already broken. After reading other reviews on Yelp, I realized this doesn't seem like a one-off situation. Many others have had similar experiences, which makes it seem like this kind of unwelcoming behavior is a pattern.

The other day when I was lunching at Everest Curry House (amazing Nepalese food!!), I decided this is the day I need to go check out Sustainable Exchange. This store is all the good feels. Many natural materials and fabrics, beautiful artisan style soaps sans heavy perfumes or dyes, scrubby brushes for your dishes, face, and body, and just a plethora of great things for your home, or as gifts. I bought two long handled brushes for body scrubbing, some incense, a mushroom cocoa packet, and a face scrubber. And, the gentleman working (maybe the owner?) was so friendly and personable. Sustainable Exchange also has an excellent selection of zero waste cleaning tools and an array of cute gifts and local artisanal items. Browsing is like a little adventure because there are so many things to see arranged all over the store. Do you need lip balm? Food? Kaftans? Coconut fibre sponges? Flouride-free toothpaste? Dish soap? Chocolate? Bar soap? Honey? Marin themed things? Essential oils? Honestly if you need something random, it's worth checking to see whether Sustainable Exchange carries the zero waste organic version of it!

My boyfriend and I found this nice little shop when we were in the area and wanted to see what kind of RC Cars this place had. The guy working there Brian was such a great guy to talk to. They talked about the different types of RC cars there was. There are drift cars, monster trucks, buggies, crawlers... the list goes on. We were in there for maybe an hour or so just talking. Brian was such a gem, that 5 years later we go back and have built a wonderful friendship with him, he had become our older brother. Brian is that type of person who will not just sell you an RC car, but he will sell you one that suits you. If you had a car in mind and he does not have it in stock, he is willing to order it and he will make sure he orders you the best one. Brian also fixes RC cars if something is broken or if you have no idea why it isn't working. He will give you a quote before actually fixing it and if the price is good with you, he will start the fixing processes. He is not the type of sell you useless cars, he tries his best to order the best. He does sell more then just RC cars. Just go check him out and see what he has to offer. He also has model cars that you can build. He has a few trains and tracks. He has a lot of paints for the models and other things. Brian is great.
