I've been a little hesitant to leave a review because I'm a new member, but even in the short amount of time I've been there I have been able to see how Ballistic is different from other places. These are my observations:
1. Programming - There isn't a dedicated strength and workout structure for each class so every day is different. At first I found this concerning, but I can already see an improvement in my strength/movements since I joined. The other differences I see compared to my previous box is the duration of the wods and weight recommendations. They definitely enable and encourage you to push yourself and don't shame you if you don't. It's a nice balance.
2. Maturity - The coaches are experienced and it's evident through their feedback. I've been doing crossfit for about 2 years now and they've identified flaws in my movements that had never been called out before. They also provide lots of solid advice on how to progress on movements you may need help with. It's really a culmination of small tweaks that they try and guide you through for you to improve which I appreciate and also expect.
3. Athletes - there are some phenomenal athletes here and some not so phenomenal (like me :)). What I like is that the really good ones are always the most encouraging. I've never been shunned or made to feel bad because I'm not doing every movement as prescribed in the workout. Everyone really focuses on what they're doing so they can improve and realize that's why you're there too. If you're hesitant to join because of the caliber of some athletes there is no need for that to stop you, everyone's pretty friendly.
Overall, I'm extremely glad to have joined Ballistic and look forward to continuing to improve myself. I think this place is great regardless if you're a seasoned athlete or beginner, and I think if you've read all of this review you should just call and join :) read more
