They never make me feel bad about not knowing anything. They are always encouraging and educational about what I need for my daughter. Our last visit was an appointment for pointe shoes. I've already had one daughter that's been through this process and this process with NKY Dancewear was outstanding compared to the process with my oldest daughter. Do not come here for pointe shoe fitting. The fitter insisted that my wife's pointe shoe was fine,…read moreeven though my wife felt they were too long. My wife has 20 years of experience dancing on pointe, but was treated like she was completely ignorant. Three experienced teachers agreed it was too long, to the point of running an injury risk. When we called, we were told to come back to "figure it out". All the fitter did was double down that it was the best fit and everyone else was wrong (including the person wearing it). We went to a different place and immediately found the same brand in a smaller size that fits much better. When I went back to explain the issue, I was told to get another opinion (which we already did), that the better size was "very similar", that my wife should "speak up for herself" (which she did) and where to resell it. They would tell the owner, but all we would get was 10% off the next purchase. Unfortunately, there will not be a next purchase here. As much as we would like to support a local business and a struggling industry, this is an unacceptable and unethical way of conducting business.

He was helping…read moreme figure out which shoes to buy since he is a professional ballet dancer, and she proceeded to refer to him as a girl and "she" the entire time we were in the store. No matter how many times we mentioned him taking men's class she did not apologize or correct her behavior. We were very displeased with our visit as that kind of behavior is, frankly, inconsiderate and unacceptable, and if there was another dance supply store in Louisville, we would be taking our business there instead.

Older woman working underestimated the knowledge of the veteran dancer consumer. I put all my merchandise back at this point and will never return after 22 years!
