We have leased several cars from Balise Subaru. we also bought a pre owned car. Our last (and I mean the last) car we leased was a 2023 Forester. We were told it was of quality. the Eco Bridgestone tires went BALD by 20,000 miles. Even with our warrant, we had to pay over $1,200 for 4 new tires. Tye tires have bad reviews all over the place. Balise said because we were late for our first oil change and rotation the bill is on us. This is unacceptable and I will tell EVERYONE I know to avoid their declining integrit. I am called "The Subaru Lady" by many. Belise, Bridgestone, and Subaru are all getting bad reviews from the Subaru lady. I have in the past sent Belise customers. Balise is amazing! Devin Mendoza is the man you girls want to go to!!! HE is HERE for YOU! Do you hear me?? He not only listened to me when I told him what I didn't want in a car, he heard me tell him what I did want in a car! So, now I have purchased a pretty Subaru Crosstrek in Sapphire Blue Pearl - which equals a pretty blue-ish purple! OMG, so pretty! It's the Premium edition! Other dealerships wouldn't show me the difference between all the Crosstrek models (there are 4, plus all the options...it's exhausting!). Then all the colors, again, exhausting! But, Devin took all the guess work out of it and showed me the difference. Asked me what was important.. moonroof vs not... color options... in stock now vs ordering... leather vs fabric seats, etc. Again Devin LOVED shopping with me - and took all the guess work out and BOOM...what has taken me 4 weeks of car shopping to many dealerships, including a Subaru dealer in my own town that I went to 4 times!!!! I kept the original review under this cuz I want you to see how quickly your experience can change. It's been a month since the original review. I just made my 2nd payment on the vehicle a few days ago. Since the purchase I have moved 3500 miles away to Oregon. The vehicle was not driven. It was transported on a 4wheel vehicle carrier and never ever left my sight. I said very clearly that if there was any issue with the vehicle we knew about I had no issue paying to have it fixed but the vehicle needed to be in reasonably good condition once I left with it. I would also point out it "passed" vehicle inspection a couple weeks before I bought it from the dealership. The dealership had it inspected. The control arm just rotted right off the rear slip. It's been hanging in mid air scraping against the brake line. Thank god I caught it today. I found my local Toyota dealer. Introduced myself to the service manager because I was looking to begin upgrading my new vehicle. We looked around. Of course we noticed some things to keep an eye. Then we got to the back. He made 3 things very clear. That it just happened. It's highly unlikely the dealership didn't know about it because new wiring has recently been installed ON the thing and it's spotless. It should not have passed any vehicle inspection under any circumstances. This was dangerous I now have to scramble for an experienced frame welder to hopefully repair it. OR I need to find somehow an entire new slip. Either option is gonna cost thousands as well as time with no vehicle. This is everything they say about "car dealer" made real in one simple sale. Original Ok so I was searching for an FJ Cruiser. Fan of the vehicle, owned it before, familiar with it. Buying it can be a little bit of a minefield. My previous attempt to purchase it had been an expensive, time consuming effort where the owner of the dealership had ended up completely wasting my time. Hundreds of miles driven left a bad taste in my mouth. Upon discovering Balise had one I did my research thoroughly. In truth the car was good as sold before I arrived as long as no one threw me a red flag or nasty surprise. I arrived before opening and a very kind rep kept me company til the sales team came in to start their day. Eventually the Sales Manager arrived and I was very up front and blunt with him about my previous experience. Stressing I didn't want my or his time wasted with false promises. He was remarkably kind and patient with my guarded attitude. He personally walked the vehicle with me on a COLD drizzling day as I went over it with a flashlight looking at the troubled areas. We test drove it and I was very impressed with the vehicle itself almost at go. It wasn't perfect, it's used, but it was a sound vehicle at a fair price. Test drive over I asked to move the process forward. I was then handed off to Dan who would be my sales guy from that step forward. He also was very polite and understanding, answering as many questions as I needed answered, never showing a hint of being anything less than what I needed him to be so I'd feel comfortable. I'm detail oriented, done sales more than half my life. Worked for reputables and conmen alike. So I was looking for surprises. I also have been putting a LOT of effort into rebuilding my credit so I was wary there as well for the unexpected bad news. I didn't get any. Still haven't. We did not haggle price. I don't do that. I wasn't pushed towards any features, I was asked what I cared about and plainly shown cost vs reward. We discussed some minor repairs I'd like done. It was no charge. Did the deed, signed the lines, picked up my car and of course immediately took it to my guy. No surprises. I promised a good review because I value word of mouth. You don't want cold calls, don't want pushy dealers? You reward good service by putting as much effort to reward it as you do reporting a scam artist. My wife and I just bought a car from them. Very happy with the car, a Subaru Crosstrek plug in hybrid. We knew going in that they wouldn't take our check from Navy Federal Credit Union. I assumed we'd get whacked one to one and a half percent over the great rate Navy Federal gave us. Nope. Double the interest rate. We were already there and it's really hard to find the car you want right now, especially when you want a plug in hybrid. So I kept my wife happy and we bought the car. If we pay it off through the loan Balise got us it'll be about $3600 more over the life of the loan. Of course I will refinance with Navy Federal as quickly as possible, so it's going to be a much smaller hit. Also Chris, the manager or finance guy or whatever they call him, was incredibly pushy about add ons like the extended warranty he would not stop pushing. He went so far as to try to play my wife against me which is slimey low even by car salesman standards. He started playing shell games with "well I'll knock this off of that..." It was really trying my patience but my wife deserves a new car so I just kept smiling and saying we don't want that. We have the car my wife really wants after 26 years of driving a minivan, and I'll refinance it as quickly as possible so the hit is nowhere near the amount it would be if we just kept their loan, but Balise is really lucky the car market is so jacked up right now or they would not have gotten a penny of my money. read more

I visited Balise Subaru in Warwick as a return customer to turn my lease in for a Crosstrek and get a price on a new lease. I was told by Conor (knowing my turn in was early and after already inspecting my car) he could match what I'm paying now provided I lease their Impreza because it's a less expensive than another car I expressed interest in. So, I decided to return the next day to seal the deal then was told by Ryan I'd have to pay $53 more a month with 1k down for the Impreza. I left unhappy as I received two very different quotes. When I followed up with Ryan via email and asked why the huge discrepancies, he completely stopped interacting with me. This dealership is extremely dishonest and does not respect their customers. BEWARE! In the end, I bought a brand new Toyota at a different dealership. Dishonesty and avoiding customers will not get you far. Annual Maintenance Schedule. First-time visitor. Didn't have a profile; they made one for me. Quick, easy, efficient. Drove my 'suub' into the service garage, took my information, and waited in the service waiting area. Brought a good book to read, got some water. Bathrooms are/ smell clean on the men's side. They have a large facility, big crew, took 30-40 minutes tops with several other customers in front of me. Worked with Amy Maia, she fetched me when it was completed. I had a 9am appointment to purchase a vehicle, and the process got started around 9:45am. Already off to a bad start. I test drove the car I knew I wanted, and proceeded with #'s and sales. After some back and forth which is inevitable with car sales, we agreed. It took an eternity for me to finish the paperwork because they had one person in finance. That LONG period of time (hours!!!) would have been a good opportunity to show me around the car and teach me what all of the gadgets inside are for. But nah, that would have been practical. Fast forward almost 7 hours when I finally left ( just like the Emergency Room! ) I sent the dealership my insurance ID card and binder FIRST thing Monday morning. No one responded. I follow up with the status of my registration 8 days later to find out what the hold up was. They said they were waiting on me to send my ID card.1. I already did. 2. If they thought they were waiting on me, wouldn't a call be nice? I tell the guy I sent it to him, He says it wasn't him but whoever got it dropped the ball. 2 strikes here because 1. Don't throw your own coworkers under the bus. 2. It wasn't his coworker. It was him. HE dropped the ball. I re-sent him the original email to which I was ghosted. NO REPLY, no "I'm sorry I didn't see this before, I will be sure to expedite this for you" NOTHING. Terrible customer service (if any) skills. Finally, WEEKS go by, still nothing. I call the dealership to see if my plates arrived? What do you know? They've been there. Calling me to tell me would've been too easy, right? In my efforts to lease a Subaru Forester, I found this dealership; and I regret having ever trusted them. When I contacted an internet sales representative online, I was informed of a special offer that was running on the Forester, and the sales rep assured me of the validity of the offer and the specs. I then verified the offer on their website, and called the dealership to confirm the validity of the offer, so as not to have to go in more than once. Everything checked out as far as the offer was concerned, until I showed up for my appointment. When I sat down with the in person sales rep at the dealership, he acted as if he was not aware of the offer that had been assured to me on 2 separate occasions. I showed him the messages that had been sent to me, and he checked with his manager. The manager told me that they don't acknowledge the national Subaru offer because they are short inventory at their dealer. I called "bs" on him because their website lists that they had 8 new Foresters on their lot. They redrafted the offer, and gave me a new offer that was over $1000 more on the down payment, and over $100/month above the quote that I had been promised. This dealership is highly un trustworthy. I wouldn't recommend doing business with them, they will swindle you and nickel and dime you for every little thing that they possible can. Utterly Disgraceful. read more

I purchased a 2012 Subaru Forester about 6 months ago. Thought it was high mileage, I was assured by the saleswoman that the car had been exclusively serviced at Balise, and they "stand behind their service." Only a couple of months later, I discovered the car burns oil at a rate far exceeding that of even a car known to burn oil. Oil does not register on the dipstick after only 1300 miles after an oil change. Balise has declined every opportunity to resolve this problem. If they tell you they stand behind their service, I would caution you not to believe them. Neither I nor anyone in my family will be doing business with any Balise location for the forseable future. read more

We have a 39 month lease on a 2019 Forester which will expire in February 2022. In September I began getting calls, texts, and emails from Megan asking if I wanted to trade it in early. I made an appointment to go there this past Tuesday. When we arrived we were told that Megan only sets up the appointments and we would be meeting with Alex. He began by asking us why we were there and we told him Megan set up an appointment to discuss options for the end of the lease. He never pulled up our lease and instead asked us questions about our car and lease. He told us the the 2022s wouldn't be in until March 2022 so we would need to get a 2021 but he didn't have any of them either and told us to look around and realize that there was a transportation issue happening everywhere. We reminded him that Balise called us - we didn't call them. We told him that our car had less than 22,000 miles on it and he seemed unimpressed. He told us that if we wanted to purchase the car we would need to obtain a loan directly from the bank and then we would need to wait for 3 months for the title to transfer during which time we wouldn't be able to drive the car. He quoted us a monthly cost for a 2021 that was $125 more that what we are currently paying. We decided to leave and he seemed surprised and asked what he could do to get us into a car and we told him nothing. I told him that he acted as though he was doing us a favor and he said "but I am doing you a favor" at which time we left. PS: we went to Patriot Subaru and are scheduled to lease a 2022 Forester for practically the same amount as we are currently paying with no money down. read more

Used to LOVE these guys, bought my Forrester from them in 2019, but BOY have they changed! Ordered a 2" trailer hitch from them, they installed a 1-1/4" hitch on instead (for $700, no less), and absolutely REFUSED to do anything about THEIR mistake. Not only did they not call me back, they continuously told me "there's nothing we can do". The Parts manager put me in touch with the Sales manager (why, I don't know, and netiehr did the sale manager), who not only told me he couldn't do anything, but told me it "wasn't their business" for what I wanted to use the trailer hitch for, so it wasn't important for them to ensure the work they were doing actually met the needs of their customers. No refund, no fixing the issue, no apology, heck, no CALLBACKS, I had to continuously follow up with them, even when they told me they'd be back in touch. To me, this is telling. They feel like they can do basically anything, get exorbitant prices for it, and then say "oh well" when their work doesn't meet expectations. Do they expect their customers to continuously monitor their work? Do we need to spell out the viscosity of the oil their putting in to make sure it's correct? How ridiculous is it that? If I can't trust my dealership to actually look out for me, then I can't do business with them, simple as that. read more

l bought a 2010 Subaru Outback from here - very good price and mileage but the service both during the sale and since has been poor at best. Our car has an extended warranty due to a design flaw: you have to remove the front wheel to replace the headlights because you can only access them through the wheel well. Balise quoted us an outrageous price and said we needed to wait five days to fit us in for a problem that risked safety. Both my headlights were out! I called Subaru national and guess what? The replacement is free. They directed us to another dealership who immediately did the work the same morning. Beware. read more

Please avoid this dealership. There are so many great dealerships within a 45-minute radius, and every one of them gave me a better experience. This was my test drive experience. My sales associate was John. I scheduled a test drive of a WRX and confirmed the date and time. They called and confirmed with me the day prior, and told me it would be ready to go. I drove 45 minutes to get to them. When I arrived, they informed me they do not do test drives of the WRX because it is so premium, but they will try to work something out. I told them I only had 2 hours and that I would be leaving after that. I told them I would not be buying a car today and that I was doing research for purchase in the next month or two. They spent 1.5 hours pushing paperwork and numbers in front of my face. I told them I could not buy a car I had not driven. They said they were still trying to "hook me up" with a test drive. One that I had already double-confirmed beforehand. At 1.75 hours, they said I might be able to drive it, but I would have to keep it below 4000 RPM because that is Subaru's official policy. (Every other dealer I went to allowed me to test drive with no questions and placed no such absurd restrictions.) With 5 minutes to spare, the car was still sitting in the showroom. I told them it wouldn't even be pulled out by the time I had to leave, much less have time for a test drive. (They were more than happy to test drive my luxury sports car, by the way.) I told them that I was very clear on my timeline, that I was not going to buy today, and that I had to leave. They responded with, "what do I have to do to get you in a car today? You aren't leaving are you?" They listened to none of my very clear statements and attempted to pressure me into a vehicle I was not even allowed to drive. read more

Not impressed. Balise owns a lot of dealerships in Rhode Island, and my previous experiences with VW made me think to come here while searching for a new/close to new Impreza. It's obvious Balise has really become bloated. The saleswoman I worked with was lackluster. As I had never test driven a newer Subaru, I didn't know much about the interior, and while driving the 2018 Impreza started asking fairly basic questions about the MPG, differences between the 2015 and 2018, other models Subaru offers, and other easy things. The salesperson just didn't know much about the product she was selling. Disappointing. What was most horrifying though was after we looked at another car, we circled back to the 2018, and there was a HUGE gash in the back bumper. Not something that could be buffed out, but would need to be replaced. I was reassured it would be fixed right away, and we went inside to check numbers. I was pretty shaky at this point about purchasing the Impreza, but was willing to move forward, as it was the car at the time I wanted. Ended up coming back on Sunday, my salesperson was not working, and looked at another Impreza that was listed online, but not 'ready to be viewed' when I was there on Thursday. The part hadn't even been ordered yet for the 2018, and I was really skeptical that the car would be fixed anytime soon. The second salesperson I worked with (Rob) was great, and I really wish I had worked with him at first, because I may have felt better about making a large purchase with him, but I was really not at ease. I visited Balise Subaru today. I highly recommend working with Ryan Morrow. He was polite, listened to my needs and was very attentive. The manager on duty was also nice to work with. Prior to Ryan calling me to trade in my Impreza, I did not plan on going back to this dealership after the extremely rude treatment I received from Conor. Just appalling! When you ask a dealer to see a car in person and they respond, "You haven't seen them on the road (among many other rude comments)?" you don't plan on going back. I don't normally review on yelp, but this is just too good. I brought my car in for a factory recall. Upon picking up the car, Jana had given me a mock bill for service that was deemed necessary. I needed new bushings for the control arms, and brakes and rotors all around. The entire job was quoted at $538 including parts and labor, which seemed low but I'll take it. Once receiving the invoice, I triple check with her to make sure this number is accurate. It is she says, so I made an appointment for two weeks out. I brought the car in for the job and once again dealt with Jana. She asked for my phone number so that she could pull up my account and car info and proceeds to quote the job at around $1000. I call her out on it, show her the invoice, and recall her assuring me multiple times that the cost was accurate. she instantly becomes defensive claiming she'd never quote me that price for that amount of work (meanwhile, I'm staring at the mock invoice she handed me, along with her name at the top). She gradually becomes increasingly more irritated and essentially calls me a liar. I ask to speak to the manager and she promptly approaches him once she sees him in the garage. I'm watching her frantically walk with him throughout in a panic, talking to techs, flailing her arms around. She then walks by the automatic doors and I hear her mutter "f****** lying a******". I chuckled. Thankfully the manager saw her mistake, and granted me the original price since it was IN PRINT. Easily one of the most insane and unpleasant service experiences I've had. read more

Truly an awful experience aside from the finance guy and insurance woman. Took us for a test drive in the WRONG CAR that someone else was waiting for...harassed us during the negotiation period after being asked not to do so, took over two hours after agreeing to buy the car to get us in with the finance guy, and after all was said and done, we drove away and realized they had only filled the gas tank HALF WAY on a car that we just spent $18,000 dollars on after promising to fill it. First saleswoman had no affect and second was the one who tried to use guilt to manipulate us after being asked twice not to do so as its harassment. Worst dealership experience we have ever had, wished we had gotten the car and established a relationship elsewhere but they had what my partner wanted. Go elsewhere. read more

Overall would not recommend to anyone buying or maintaining a subaru. Looks elsewhere and even see if you can get your car shipped from them to a different dealer. This is a review for the service department. I was really impressed with the dedication of the service manager, Peter Cacchiotti , who really helped me at a time of need. My Forrester had been recalled for a passenger airbag sensor which was faulty. After going to another dealership who told me to take a hike and wait until February -- my lease was almost up in March - he was willing to help me and diagnose the issue first and then reach out to Subaru corporate directly to make sure that the park got in as quickly as possible. He called me the day before Thanksgiving when the part became available and installed it despite May not having an appointment. The service staff were all really helpful. This positive experience will make me think about coming here again when it's time to lease my next vehicle. read more

This review is for the parts department. They took an Internet order for a part (a side mirror) that implied that it was in stock and would be shipped that day. Instead, it took 31 days for the part to arrive. About halfway through I called and asked where my part was, and they couldn't produce a tracking number. They said they would get it right out. Two weeks later, my part arrived. It is dangerous driving on the freeway in the winter without a side mirror. Luckily I lived. read more

Offered us a ridiculously low price on our trade in (Patriot Subaru gave us four times the amount), told us the 0.9% financing incentive on a new vehicle was only if we paid the sticker price (who pays the sticker price?!) and, once we made a deal and went home to get our old car to trade in, told us when we returned 15 minutes later (and made us wait an hour for them) that they were not actually going to honor the deal they had made earlier! My husband was so angry he went into the parking lot and called Patriot Subaru and told them what happened. They said they had the same car and would honor the deal we had originally made with Balise. And they did! It is one thing to not be able to offer a lower price. It is another to be rude and disrespectful and lie. We are a Subaru family but will never do any business with Balise again nor recommend them to anyone. read more

Overall it started off good with a nice salesman but once the paperwork came in they started becoming pushy trying to sell us their $2000 warranty and must have asked about 20 times and that's not an exaggeration. Also, they sold me a car and gave me only 1 key! I asked for a 2nd key but they said they can't and I have to buy for $500! I feel a dealership as large balise shouldn't be selling cars with 1 key, like come on I expect this from Bob's Fantastic Used Cars dealership not a large company like balise! They also gave us the car with a quarter of a tank of gas! Again, gas is cheap enough that they could've at least done half or full. Too many dealerships want to rip customers off and penny pinch to death so this goes on the list of places I WILL NOT Shop again. All in all it started off good and went downhill from there. Bought a Subaru about a year ago. For approximately the past 6 months, they have been calling. For some periods the calls were daily, sometimes weekly, "give me a call, my direct line is". On ocasion they have said there is a issue with the Subaru I purchased and need to call them. I check for issues on line but I have not received any notice. I suspect it is a trick by the salesperson. So rather than return to them, I go to another dealership for service. The calls are really getting old, so tired of this harassment. Several teachers I know bought their Subaru on-line & picked it up in New Hampshire. They mentioned they saved several thousand, so next time I will probably do this. read more

We were on our way home from a summer camp in Maine when suddenly the check engine light went on while on a highway. I took the car to Balise and they found that there was a spider nest in the catalytic converter. The work took less than an hour, and they even gave us a loaner. read more
