We went there last night. The new owners are very nice! We did not eat food however we did get cocktails and they were great! We are from Seattle and they gave us good quality for a lower than Washington state price! This building is beautiful as are the paintings! What a gem of a bar!

Green curry pork soup

Excellent choice on my part!! I was looking for something other than burgers or pizza (both of which seem to be the main options in The Dalles). Talked to some locals and they suggested the Baldwin Saloon. I didn't even look at the reviews until I sat down. I was dining alone while in town for business. I was promptly seated at a nice two person booth. Excellent service all the way around, I told my waiter I was torn between the Chicken Cordon Blue or the Salmon Rockafeller on the specials menu. He informed me that while they always offer the chicken the Salmon was a limited offering dependent upon the salmon season. That decided me, I do pass through the area from time to time so I could have the chicken another time. I started with a pork green curry soup it had a mild curry flavor and was quite good, I didn't finish it in order to save room for my meal. As any good waiter he inquired making sure I enjoyed the soup if not he was ready to switch it out. My meal came and it was delicious. I was surprised how large the salmon portion was. My only complaint was that I wished there was a bit more of the Alfredo sauce on the salmon it was so good and I dipped my broccoli in it. The dish was rich but not overly so. I was checked on throughout the meal but not annoyingly so and my iced tea was consistently refilled without having to make a request. Great service great food, I'll definitely be back.

Burrata, Stuffed Mushrooms, Garlic Fries

Visited the Baldwin Saloon for the first time on Friday August 12th 2022 and was excited based on the reviews. Can't say I will go back. Maybe they were having an off day? We arrived about 1:30 pm and only 8 other dinners at the time. The large group of 6 had just left, a couple was leaving so that left approximately 6 other people to serve beyond us with 2 visible staff. We were asked to wait to be seated, not a problem. But then handed a menu and jestered towards a booth near the front door... Ok. We decide on 3 appetizers since we only wanted something light. The Burrata, Stuffed mushrooms and garlic fries. She took our order and brought us each a glass of water and an ice tea for my partner. The food arrives, yeah! Looks great! Oops no silverware or napkins. I look around and staff (both) are at the bar. I walk past the host stand and notice no flatware in the basket so I go up to the bar to ask for the cutlery. Oh no! she forgot. brings utensils. Water is gone. Trying to catch her eye for a refill. No new customers come in. It was like this game if I don't look your way they don't have to respond. The bread for the Burrata (this cheese is the bomb) was so dry and over toasted it just crumbled and could break a tooth. Mushrooms were good, and fries....never received any condiments for dipping and nothing out of the ordinary. Finally catch her eye for water and she again says Oh no she forgot and she really meant to bring more water. Ah and the bread....well that is how it is suppose to be, that dry according to the waitstaff. I ask for a substitute. After a pause to think about it she comes up with a piece of garlic bread. Literally 13 min later (in dinning time that is long for a slice of bread) She presents me with 1 slice of warm bread that she 'comped' for me otherwise it would have been $4.00 charge. Will I go back for a $40.00 no alcohol lunch? I don't think so.

Stopped in for a glass of wine and was dazzled and amazed by the staff and interior. The menu is well rounded and I can not wait to come eat dinner here. The vibe is mysterious and classy. Great date night spot! Will be back!

Located right on 2nd Street in The Dalles, it's a great place to stop if you're wandering the various tasting rooms and bare pubs in the area. Since it was my first time here, I did the flight. The first wine, the Locomotive, had me with the very light taste with hints of honey and papaya. Not one to typically drink whites, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. On a warm or even hot day, this would be perfect. As I made my way through the tasting, I found that I was enjoying several of their wines. The High Tension, their club favorite, was a full bodied blend of Syrah, Merlot and Barbera. A perfect everyday drinking wine And good for parties where you need a wine that pleases many palettes. The other standout for me was the Barbera. Very smooth, full body and slightly jammy. Since I'm in a Barbera club at Cascade Cliffs, I left with the Locomotive. I'm looking forward to a warm spring day to sit in my deck and enjoy with friends. The tasting room inside is small and simple. A picnic tables and seats out in the paved area out front, nice on a sunny day. I'll definitely be back.

I got a soda that was caffeine free and just hadda couple swings, I avoids sugar. I know, I know shoulda had water as usual. A BLT is usually safe. But I doesn't eat salt as a rule and never caffiene. Sometimes as a "treat" if yas get my drift. I look at the ingredient list and it seemed pretty safe and I felt like being treated. So's the fake Italian sandwich shows up and the "home made mayo" is not mayo, it's some spicy crapola I can't eat that's supposed to be a ringer for mayo. If yas hasn't figured it out yet Hammer is a picky eater and drinker. I don't eat anything spicy. I don't like it. Want to be certain yas totally destroy a sandwich. Spread something on it that's horrid. That oughta do it. We never saw the sap that took our order after he brought the fake Italian food. In a "real" restaurant the server comes an' checks ta see if yas needs anything or how that grub is. My skirt ate what they brought her and said it was marginal but nutt'in to write home about. She was hungry. I wiped off the bacon much as I could and ate around da rest staying away from the terrible fake mayo much as possible. Didn't amount to much that was edible. I wanted to get "on the road again" or I would have helped out more with the improvement of this con joint. As a rule I won't pay 44 bucks for food I won't eat. I promise I don't tip when I already feel like I was misinformed about the food and robbed already. We just scrammed outta there. When will be be back? Easy peasy NEVER!

The seating room is cozy, and I loved the antique typewriters and little wine games on the tables. I was hoping there might be a view of the river given the building location, but apparently the balconies/roof are owned by a hotel in the same building. That said, this was a very cute and cozy spot to sit and taste. The woman pouring was very friendly and she knew a lot about the wines. The pours were pretty light but it's hard to complain when you're paying $15. None of the wines stood out to me, but I liked the Cab Franc best. Both red wines were served colder than I expected, which I didn't mind but I know some people really do. This honestly would have gotten five stars, but there were fruit flies everywhere! They were swarming us the whole time, and several got into our wine :( I think this is largely unavoidable because the entire front wall is open to air, but it did mean we were having to swat flies the whole time we were there.

Every single bite was more yummy stuff than filler lettuce! And the blue cheese dressing was THE BEST- super thick & creamy & didn't overpower the salad. The only complaint we have is we needed more dressing;) This salad was SO good I had for leftovers the next day & it was just as amazing as the night before! The only complaint about these guys were we couldn't wait for them to cool & almost burnt our mouths;) We also ordered the Pretzel Bites with our choices of mustard & beer cheese sauce.
