I love this dog park. It's not huge or anything, but it's everything you and your fury friend could need. There's lots of locals that go here and they're always SO nice! There's two sides, so one for the big guys and one for the little ones. Bags are supplied in case you forget and there's a bucket out for water and a fountain as well. If you go around 4-5 it's usually pretty busy. It seems as though all the dogs that come here are very well socialized because I've personally never seen any issues. On my top 5 best bay area dog parks for sure

First time at Baldwin Dog Park with Bob The Dog. Highly recommended it!

Used to taking "Bob The Dog" to the Alameda dog park & Point Isabella in Richmond, decided to take him to Baldwin dog park in Concord via a Yelp recommendation. So glad we brought him here! Not as spacious as Alameda or Point Isabella but still plenty of room, lots of shade, working water fountains for the dogs, lots of shade, plenty of benches, a surprisingly well maintained lawn, and lots of close parking! Highly recommended this park, 5 stars easily!

The dog park serves what it needs to do. Dogs have somewhere to run, drink water and poop bags to clean up after them. The only downside would be that the park is CLOSED on TUESDAYS for maintenance. Other than that, I come here all the time.

It's your standard dog park. Includes separate areas for large and small dogs. It's clean and everyone there is quite friendly. A nice alternative if other dog parks are closed. What makes a great dog park is a lot of dogs, and in my experience many days Baldwin Park is lacking that. It's kind of hit or miss. The reason I think this, is because many people don't know about this dog park or are too scared to come here. Despite what you may heard about Baldwin Park, it's not THAT bad, just come early (before 3pm) or stay in the dog park area and you won't be hassled.

This is the big dog side, but there is a little dog side too!

Nice park. Lots of shade, benches, and bbq pits. Bathrooms are a little sketchy, but the toilet paper was plush like Charmin!

Another problem here is there are a lot of people who want to bring small children, babies, and small dogs into the large dog side.

Newhall Park is a large, neighborhood park not far from where I live. It has many things to…read morerecommend it, and yet it has been ages since I've been there - maybe I'm guilty of the "grass is always greener" syndrome. But finally, my wife and I returned on the recent Sunday and were reacquainted with all it has to offer. It's a good park for walking: there's a flat, dirt path that circles the park; I didn't measure it, but it's a decent length, especially if you make multiple rounds. Along the way you see the park has a large bocce ball court, a popular dog park, and a good sized hill for cardio purposes with the Concord Vietnam Memorial on the top. A weekend adult soccer game was going on in the middle of the field. On the other side of the park is a pond (we saw an egret, ducks and geese), and a marsh-like area with tons of cattails. Galindo Creek, heavily shaded with trees, borders the edge of the park. A number of benches let you take a break when you need it from your walk. Newhall Park is a little rough around the edges visually. There's none of the graceful elegance of a Walnut Creek Larkey Park, with its paved path, lush green grass and stately trees. Newhall's grassy areas are functional, but look beat up with numerous dead spots (maybe blame the soccer). The walking path is hard dirt, but can be messy after a rain. The parking lot also is unpaved, and is in poor condition with bumps and holes. We noticed a number of cars parked along Turtle Creek Road prior to the park entrance. But these are minor concerns. In the uber-populated East Bay, any park is a welcome break from wall-to-wall homes, stores and concrete. Newhall Park is an easy way to get out and breathe the fresh air, and deserves the popularity it enjoys. That Walnut Creek park may have greener grass, but sometimes that park down the street is all we need.

Truly the worst experience and now I'm terrified to not only have other dogs around him but to be around other dogs because I was attacked as well trying to get these dogs off of him. It still baffles me that not only do people just not properly have their dogs trained but as I'm fighting these dogs off my pup and I'm screaming for help tell me how is it that these four dogs owners can't seem to get their dogs back yet alone come fast enough to act on it. Then there is the lack of accountability that really gets me. I had to pay a huge vet bill because people can't seem to follow the rules, have dogs with behavior issues, and have the audacity to be insincere about the whole thing. If you love your dog, DON'T BRING THEM HERE unless of course you're prepared to fight dogs off your dog and argue with other pet owners. This is my FIRST and LAST time coming here.

Google map will tell you "you have arrived" when you are on the main road (Clayton road/marsh creek), but the park itself is inaccessible from the main road. We took the first next turn after Google maps alerted us, parked on the street, walked on the trail path for a short distance and found the dog park. There were only one dog with one owner when we first got there and my dog had fun playing (Nice dog and owner!). After they left, we walked the trail for 2.5 miles then came back and more dogs - yay!! My puppy had a blast playing with all the dogs as all the dogs he met were nice. Also, nice owners! Everyone was "Claytonians" that live near by. I asked them if this dog park doesn't have a lot of visitors and they confirmed that most of the times there are only a few dogs or none. I hope more nice visitors would frequent this dog park so I can come here more often with my puppy as it's such a nice dog park/area! This park is good for shy dogs I guess (my puppy is not at all shy - he's the opposite). We will be back, but maybe just not as frequently until the dog park gets more dogs visitors.
