I am so exhausted from reading these ridiculous reviews where people give one star because they didn't like the other people at the park when they visited or didn't like another dog that was there. I realize our intelligence seems to have declined as a society at this point but you don't give a movie theatre one star because the person in front of you farted during a movie. *Insert eyeroll emoji here* This park is super cute and we are so glad we stopped here. The dog areas are separated and (let me be clear that I am not factoring this into the rating but) there were lots of other friendly courteous dog owners while we were there. They had grass, water, poo bags, shade, benches and even tables inside the dog area. Apart from that, the park itself is nice. There are lost of well maintained grassy areas so even if you don't want to have your dog off-leash, there are plenty of places to walk them or play on a lead. There is parking really close to the dog area for anyone who might have mobility issues and there was a clean open bathroom available for use. We were only able to stay about 30 minutes but we really didn't want to leave. This is a great park to enjoy if you are in the area with or without a dog. read more

Excellent dog park nice mix of pit bulls and German shepherds and the occasional doodle and irritated chihuahuas. Dogs typically run freely among the humans in this park. Rest rooms on site, bring your own toilet paper shoe covers, and a friend to watch outside the door while you do your business. Don't mind the homeless and drug users they seem to keep to themselves. read more

Decided to bring my Shepherd here for the first time after reading a recent review claiming that the owners here are terrible and do not watch their dogs. I wanted to give the place, and owners, a chance and visited anyways, but, surely enough, the review proved true. The park was decent; gated entry, tons of other shepherds, and shade. However, there was this 1 particular dog (a black lab maybe with a green vest) that would repeatedly try to mount my dog. My dog gave loud warning barks each time but the owner (whom I could not identify at the time) would not intervene until I could not tolerate it anymore and asked out loud. My dog and I ended up leaving having only spent maybe 5-10 minutes total. I felt terrible for how my dog was treated but allowed it to happen because I thought the other dog would leave her alone after being warned repeatedly. Will not be bringing my dog back. read more

I would give this 0 stars if I could. Horrible owners here smoking cigarettes and not paying attention to their dogs at all. People bring their dogs in that "aren't friendly" and then expect your dog to just know that. My puppy was playing the dogs and one of them nipped at him and drew blood. Instead of apologizing instead a man said "Have him try again, I'd like to see" insinuating a dog fight. The people here are the lowest of low. Worst dog park I have ever been to. Like others have said, horrible owners at this dog park. So many bring their chairs to chat with their friends while their aggressive dogs go after submissive puppies and dogs. Lots of retirees with big dogs they can't control. There is one lady who thinks she is in charge of the dog park...brings her broom and sweeps around. Only acknowledges you if you are in her dog clique.she told me I should have my 85 pound lab go to the small dog park and play there if he couldn't hang with the real big dogs (aka the aggressive ones). I love this dog park. It's not huge or anything, but it's everything you and your fury friend could need. There's lots of locals that go here and they're always SO nice! There's two sides, so one for the big guys and one for the little ones. Bags are supplied in case you forget and there's a bucket out for water and a fountain as well. If you go around 4-5 it's usually pretty busy. It seems as though all the dogs that come here are very well socialized because I've personally never seen any issues. Initially this park is the first one that I was able to practice off leash walking around with my 7 month hold lab. We have visited this park maybe four times. * Just this morning my sister and I took both our dogs to the park. There was one owner with four large brown dogs of different breeds on the large side. My sister entered that same side with our lab and immediately the four dogs chased down my lab, barking and growling. The owner took her very precious time getting up and very quietly telling her dogs to stop. It was immediately not a good setting for any pup to enter that side. Saying this to say keep an eye out for certain owners they use dog parks to ignore their dog instead of playing with them and making sure their dogs aren't coming off aggressive. read more

My friend looked this location up for us. It was a great experience. Clean,friendly people and dogs. There's plenty of room for small,medium and large dogs to roam freely. I love how it is divided and fenced in with a lot of short grass with trees for shade. read more

Dear Abby, does it count if I write a review for the rest of Baldwin Park and not the dog park? I never used the dog park. We had an Aussie who got jealous of other dogs, and went into attack mode when she saw one. I *have* used other portions of the park. A birthday party for one of my girl's friends was held at the playground. My wife's church has held two picnics a year here for the last three years. So what's at Baldwin Park? It's basically a large neighborhood park on a major street, visible from BART and close to downtown. Lots of parking. Lots of soccer games, a baseball diamond and bocce ball courts, and I even saw a band's color guard practicing here once. Also a senior center, city-run preschool, and dance center. Some somewhat scruffy people wander in. Not a lot that really stands out, but it's a good one. Your pooch will like it too. :-) read more

Used to taking "Bob The Dog" to the Alameda dog park & Point Isabella in Richmond, decided to take him to Baldwin dog park in Concord via a Yelp recommendation. So glad we brought him here! Not as spacious as Alameda or Point Isabella but still plenty of room, lots of shade, working water fountains for the dogs, lots of shade, plenty of benches, a surprisingly well maintained lawn, and lots of close parking! This is a great dog park, for the most part the owners and dogs are great! It does tend to be a little on the soggy side in the morning. Plenty of friends to be made! I will say, there are a few "entitled" people that go here, they will get mad if another dog touches their dog, takes the ball, or surrounds them for treats. They can be pissy and bitchey ( normal for the bay), if you actually just confront them they'll run away. I have only seen one person physical hit hard another person's dog, but they were dealt with accordingly. Another problem here is there are a lot of people who want to bring small children, babies, and small dogs into the large dog side. Be prepared to get yelled at or threatened to be sued if they gwt knocked down or played rough with...actually I think it's just another typical day in the bay. read more

I like this place because it's a fairly large dog park and has separate play areas for large dogs. Most dogs in the park aren't leashed so be careful if you're animal isn't socialized. There are a lot of owners who bring dogs that are potentially dangerous (and oblivious to it), but I don't think that should take away from how beautiful and well kept this dog park is. There is plenty of parking and if I could make one recommendation is for owners to not have their cuties off leash, especially near the parking area. I'm sure your dogs are well trained, but I'd hate to see your doggy run into oncoming traffic. I've seen way too many dogs run across the parking area. So drivers, please drive slowly and share the road with our furry friends. read more

It's a dogs life! We just adopted our beautiful puppy Coco. I've never had a dog before so this is the first dog park I've ever visited. I didn't know what to expect. Especially because Coco is super barky towards other dogs. There is a little dog park and a big dog park. The fences butt up against each other which can be funny to watch. There is a small buffer space with a water fountain where you can unleash your dog before going into the small or large dog park. People seem to be very considerate of keeping their dogs at bay as new people come into the park. I am so thankful for the lovely gal that approached us as we walked up and Coco began barking. She told us to just come on in. Once we did Coco shut up and had fun. We head to this park regularly and have even gotten to know some of the regulars. The park doesn't get too muddy when it's wet so we are able to enjoy it even when it's damp out. Also, tip we were taught: if the dogs are running towards you, stand with a wide stance and bent knees. Your less likely to get knocked over. Sidebar: I would like to throw some shade at the people who let their dogs off leash outside the dog park and don't clean up after their dogs- you know who you are! Wish peeps could be a little more considerate. Just cause your dog is little and cute doesn't mean it should roam and poop unsupervised. read more

It's a small dog park. They have a side for big dogs and side for small dogs. If the weather even THINKS about pulling a cloud into the sky, they shut down the dog park due to "wet conditions" for like a week. The "regulars" that go there have always been nice and kind to me. read more

It's your standard dog park. Includes separate areas for large and small dogs. It's clean and everyone there is quite friendly. A nice alternative if other dog parks are closed. What makes a great dog park is a lot of dogs, and in my experience many days Baldwin Park is lacking that. It's kind of hit or miss. The reason I think this, is because many people don't know about this dog park or are too scared to come here. I think it's almost always shut down. It's also fairly small for large dogs. Every visit here in the last year it has had locks on the gates. Maybe poor timing? Who knows but I've visited at least 10 time spread through the year 2018. The park itself has plenty of room and I've noticed many people with their dogs off leash here outside of the gates. If your dog is reactive, this is the last place I would recommend taking your dog. Absolutely no one here follows leash laws. But otherwise a friendly dog would love the scenes read more

Baldwin Park is huge and beautiful. The dog park is a pretty good size, especially on the large dog side. Almost all of the people who come here are friendly and polite. Dog parks in general can be somewhat complicated places. For a lot of different reasons. Baldwin doesn't deserve some of the criticism it's received here on Yelp. These issues are not unique to Baldwin. For the most part you'll find a nice park with nice people and nice dogs. Keep in mind that watching your dog and encouraging its better behavior is a recipe for success when socializing. The same goes for people. A little consideration goes a long way. Tested the waters with this one... I wanted to see if dog owners would allow their dog to play with my pitty (which by the way is the sweetest dog ever!). I've experience far too much horrific comments against my beloved pit bull and I was very hesitant to take him here. Although it was being renovated at the moment, I was surprised by how lovely people are here! They were so open to playing my dog. My nine pound dog was attacked immediately today when I entered the small dog park. A group of 4-5 dogs immediately ran over to us as soon as we entered the park. The biggest dog, a black and white short hair, named Jellybean jumped on my dog as the rest of the pack circled around. I had to swat Jellybean off of my dog and it kept coming back and I had to hit at it to keep it away. The owners all had their backs to us chatting while my dog got attacked. The owner Trina later apologized but said that the dogs always greet a new dog like that. I tried to point out that this was not acceptable behavior at a dog park and a lady (a regular) started yelling at me because I wasn't "accepting her apology". We've been taking our almost five months old Border Collie/Australian Cattle Dog daily for about a month now and have mostly had great experiences. The regulars (dogs and their owners) are friendly, pick up the poop and pretty much congregate at the 'picnic' table under a shade tree in the center of the large dog area. Everyone is welcome and no 'clique' attitude exists. Once a young man came in with an aggressive dog he could not control. Within minutes this dog started a fight with another animal and the owner of the aggressive dog began to hit it with a chain. Every other dog owner, us included, left. Several dog owners on their way into the park saw what occurred and did not enter. As we drove away we saw he had leashed his dog and was leaving too. We have not seen him since. read more

I love that I can bring my dog here and he can play with a lot of friendly animals. Dogs love to play and sniff and run and jump with each other. My dog whom is 2years old and was playing with a puppy almost the exact size as my medium sized dog. As they were playing the other dog fell to the ground and yelped for whatever reason. Maybe he/she was scared or it startled him/her. But with that aside the owner of the puppy raised his hand above his head and slapped my dog. That is not ok! Not sure what to do or say in. It's a dog park! There are seats and shade which is nice. The water fountain is in the second fence layer which gets annoying. I have been here a ton and most dogs are well monitored by owners. I have had some problems at Newhall before with other dogs, but never here. Most people are respectful and I have never felt unsafe, in fact it feels very community oriented. BYOD. read more
