Very impressed with balducci's I couldn't believe how clean it was inside. The main reason why I came to balducci's was because they carry a particular brand I like called force of nature. Force of nature is a company based out of texas that sells high end regenerative meats. As a carnivore this is a great company and the meats are reasonably priced. They have a nice variety of meats in the frozen food section like bison, venison and this ancestral blend. I will definitely be a regular going forward and can't wait to explore the rest of the grocery store!

It's a small market but with some really good items on the shelves you can't find in a lot of places. Especially those with food allergies. Bakery, seafood section and coldcuts look pretty appetizing for a ready to serve dinner. To bad I live far because I make this my go to market.

This was expired THREE MONTHS AGO when i purchased them

They sold me food expired 3 months ago. Didn't expect that. Food tasted odd so I checked the label... for many of the items with a 20 to 50% markup over wholefoods i thought i could expect at least fresh food from Balducci's. Additionally this location does not document ingredients at the food bar.

The fishmonger identified this monster as a skate.

Tell me why this store smells so bad and the prices are so high? Why is this store still in business?

Ok, not bad in size and selection. Good if you need something special but in general expensive. Overall I like Citarella better.

One day in, the food looks well prepared, unlike the sense of being not quite ready for prime time that pervaded Citarella at opening.

And you don't have to be a health nut to enjoy these comforts. This is June & Ho. Although there is meat, it's not front-and-center. You're more likely notice Quinoa+veggies, Ratatouille, Wild Rice+veggies, etc. On another side, there are crab and fish cakes, salmon pieces in lemony sauce, grilled chicken cutlets and other proteins. There you have it. So without the foreplay, now let's really get straight to the main act. After reading a June & Ho article in my Westchester Magazine a few years back mentioning their to-die-for Hot Chocolate, all I needed was a visit. When I asked about preparation- all I fixated on was 'imported semi-sweet chocolate chips'. So if you truly are a hot chocolate fiend- winter, spring, summer and fall, this is the move. Service was incredible and patient. Some folks enjoyed light bites up front where there are about 2 small tables. I still find it hard to believe that a place like this will make a rocking hot chocolate! I'm sure there are many places that are qualified to carry the title "World's Best Hot Chocolate"- but June & Ho's is just gangster. It's creamy, oh-soooo-cocoaey and delectable. I don't know the whole secret, but I can tell you the main ingredient is probably love.

I bought wild caught salmon at what was supposed to come to $15.29/lb, discounted from $16.99 with my Prime membership. I showed the in-store code at the register and it rang up $17;99, discounted from $18.99. I pointed that out to the cashier who reentered the purchase and came up with the same $17.99. I needed to move on so I just paid it. I looked over at the Manager's desk and there was a line of 4 people so I moved on again. I called and spoke to an employee (manager?) who invited me to return and collect the difference but. in truth, the $2 just wasn't worth the trip or gas money. So, once again, I moved on. I just wonder how many items are routinely overcharged and it kinda gives me a hinky feeling about Whole Foods. There are too many other markets in my neighborhood for me to make Whole Foods my first choice.

Usually the veggies are overflowing, not yesterday. I felt my journey was going to go "south" real fast. Well I was corrected! Stopped at the seafood counter. There was one person behind the counter and 4 people waiting, Originally my thought was I should have packed a lunch. Well this guy moved like he had just consumed pure caffeine! When it was my turn I I had asked for a center cut of salmon filet approximately 1.25 pounds. I figured they way he was moving I would have been lucky if it was close to a pound and I would get the tail. Surprise, surprise...he nailed the weight and I got a center cut! Got home with my salmon trimmed off a piece for my dog....yup he loves fresh salmon seasoned and broiled. The only thing my veggie choice not what I wanted but still worked. In case anyone wanted to know, roasted brussel sprouts!

But if you are willing to walk a little, free parking is available.
