This is the second time I've visited this establishment. This being an even batter experience than the first despite the relatively crummy weather. The location is remote located right before you enter the town of Madison on, what appears to be an old farm. But the views are great and the brewery feels welcoming. They have a small stage set for local singers to perform with ample seating all around. The brews here were much much better than the last time I came. Each and everyone stood out on its own and the diversity of options is sufficient. The one that caught my eye and is in the running for one of the best craft beers I've ever had is the bomb sour. That beer alone is worth the visit in my opinion.

Delicious pizza, friendly service, awesome views, and great beers! What more could you ask for? There is tons of outdoor seating and seats inside as well. We enjoyed a fall afternoon outside basking in the sunshine and devouring the Henry's choice pizza. The honey habanero really made this pizza outstanding. The pumpkin ale was good, but the cider was even better. Would return again!

I visited Bald Top while staying with my mom and 12 yo son for a long weekend in Brightwood, Virginia. It was a great atmosphere and real highlight of the trip! The grounds are beautiful and you get nice farmland views. I lived the rooftop deck, the fire pits, and the ample indoor and outdoor seating. My son liked the cornhole area and we all enjoyed the food and drinks. Very relaxing, family friendly, and a great way to experience the area!

A bit of a drive from Charlottesville, but well worth it. We brought our pup for a drive through the National Park and then swung that way for a beer. They have ciders too, which works well for my husband who prefers that or wine. The view of the farm and the ability to sit outside is lovely. They have expansive seating, and a lot of fire pits. We will be back!

Great service, great beer, and yummy pizza! It's beautiful to sit outside but a little buggy. With all the farm land that's expected so no biggie. Would definitely come back!

    Beautiful day in Madison!

We love this place! The beer and pizza is outstanding! They have an actual pizza oven here! You can see the flames going strong! The pizza is very good! We loved it and will come again!

Wife came here for the beer, but I'll end up going back just for the pizza. Great food, really nice workers behind the bar, the salad that my wife got was so refreshing, and the ambiance was great, albeit a little quiet when we were there.

We made a quick pit stop at Bald Top Brewery! And we are happy we did! Daniel was awesome and didn't rush us although we got there pretty close to closing. Both my boyfriend and I got a flight, I tried 4 different ciders and he opt to try 8 different beers LOL... talk about fight to the finish ! So I enjoy a nice light beer. I don't get into anything too heavy so when I go to breweries I usually will opt for a cider or a light beer or flavored beer! I really enjoyed the cider at Bald Top. My favorite was the Coyote Hole Sangria Cider... OMG delicious (light and crisp)! I also had Giusberry Blonde, Pomegranate Sour ARV, and I ordered the tropical stout by accident... My boyfriend finished it for me though! He likes craft beer and is a beer drinker! He got the Dueling Diplomats Imperial IPA, Lazy Daze Tropical, White Oak Stout, New Zealand IPA, Shine On Saison, Belgian Blonde, Hazy Hills NEIPA, and the Juicy IPA! He enjoyed it... I'll ask him what his favorite one was and do an update on my blog. The mild boneless wings were also really good to nibble on while we sipped drinks and enjoyed the beautiful scenery! Check out more on my blog: doseofdev.com !

Beautiful scenery! Laid back atmosphere. Lots of fun! They also have wine available if you are not feeling beer.

This brewery/winery is right off of 29 in Madison county. Great little location. Their beers are awesome. Did not try the wine. We did however split a pizza which was excellent. Service was good and it was nice that the bartender allowed us to try a few before we picked. Most importantly, it felt good to get back out into life. :) We will visit this place again on our way down to Charlottesville. Keep up the good work folks!

The wines are excellent and there are several tasting options you can choose- I believe there was a red flight, a white flight, and a "signature" option that had both. You also have the option to build your own flight, which I always love. The 2024 rosé is a standout, we picked up several bottles to bring home. We could not believe how good the food was- it was worth a trip in its own right! It's on the pricier side but it is clear why, the plates wouldn't be out of place at a fine dining restaurant. We also had the kindest server, Chelsie, who made our experience so special and memorable! She stopped by to chat several times, gave us great recommendations, and she could not have been nicer to me and my friends. We were lucky enough to attend our dear friends' wedding here and it was a spectacular wedding venue. The space is just beautiful and the catering was incredible- some of the best wedding food we've had by far. We liked it so much we came back to visit the tasting room the next day :) This is a perfect stop on the way to Charlottesville from the DMV and a gorgeous place to spend an afternoon.

Their wines were GOOD and the people running the counter (I think the gentleman was one of the owners and the young lady working beside him was a very friendly employee!) were so knowledgeable and fun to talk to! The grounds are just stunning. We loved playing with Buck the winery dog (and he and my own dog ran around having a blast!). The grandkids playing on the hill were fun to watch- it was just a beautiful day and we really enjoyed ourselves and their wine! The event space looks stunning but we weren't able to get more than just a peek through the windows. Apparently the cabin on the top of the hill is one you can rent! This is particularly true for the wine program; for a venue with such a massive retail selection, the curated menu feels surprisingly stingy. I had high hopes for their Cheese Board, but unfortunately, it mirrored my general experience here: great flavors, questionable value. The Highlights: The presentation on the bamboo board is lovely. The bread was exceptionally fresh and flavorful, and the fruit accompaniments; Persimmon, guava, grapes, and strawberry, offered a bright, acidic contrast that paired well with the selections. The Letdowns: Zero Transparency: The cheeses weren't listed on the menu, and the server didn't offer any information on what was being served. Half the joy of a professional board is the "story" knowing the origins and profiles. We were left entirely in the dark. The "Bread-to-Cheese" Ratio: Most of the selections were hard cheeses, and the two soft cheeses provided were literally the size of a quarter. Every sample was sliced remarkably thin. While the bread portion was generous, there wasn't nearly enough cheese or fruit to sustain it. It felt less like a cheese service and more like a bread board with a cheese garnish. Bottom Line: The Crush Pad clearly has access to great ingredients, but the portions should be more than "tastes." I want to love this place, but the value for the price just isn't quite there.

I had just come from a hair appointment down the street and on my way back to my car, I noticed Sangria advertised on the mini sandwich board outside. I'm a HUGE fan of a glass of fruity Sangria on a hot day! The fact that it was Happy Hour with $5 glasses made it even easier to draw me inside!! When I explained this was my first visit, they explained the Curio concept, the various areas for sitting, sipping and gathering as well as the Curio Card process. They even had a small but really intriguing menu of various snacks, from charcuterie to flatbread and even dessert. The menu changes a couple times a month, making me want to plan more visits! The staff offered me sips of each so I could decide on a Sangria flavor. Despite not being a Moscato fan, I chose the Moscato Mule Sangria. It was light, refreshing and had the Moscow Mule flavors with the added sweetness of Moscato wine. I wandered into the cellar to explore more wine offerings and wound up running into fellow educators and their friends I had never met. We chatted like we were catching up and laughed about shared birthdays and teaching!! They invited me to hang with them, but I had to get home for Dog Mom Duty. We exchanged numbers so we could plan another "run-in" downtown SOON! If you haven't visited Curio, I HIGHLY recommend it. Bring a friend, or plan on making a few.
