    bar tab receipt

Bald kitty is a very cool place, loved the vibes, loved the music. 2 things that did hurt the experience was 1) they automatically charge a 20% gratuity on your drinks and not tell you!! The way I usually tip at bars is $1 for every drinks. My bar tabs were automatically charged a 20% gratuity without me being informed or having a written sign near the bar. On top of the almost $8, I tipped an extra $3. That's not cool at all!! So every time I went to the bar I was getting charged this, no wonder I was thinking the drinks were so expensive. Also they only have one restroom. The line was so long, I was there for about 2 hours and 30 mins of that was standing in line.

Great night for chill vibes and good music. The place is very spacious and offers alot of seating. There was happy hr all night and the drinks were strong. The show started around 830 and the mood was perfect. This is a great night out to take it easy and release.

My friend and I attended the Coquito Standard Competition which showcased bartenders from nine different Houston Bars. For those who are unfamiliar with coquito (like I was), it's a Puerto Rican rum-based cocktail that is traditionally made during Christmas. It's looks like eggnog, but it actually tastes good because of the coconut flavor. The event was a lot of fun and it was really cool to sample so many variations of coquito from the different bartenders. My favorite coquito that I sampled was a tres leches coquito from the bartender representing Ninfa's on Navigation. Sadly, he did not win. In addition to the samples, they had an open bar. I ordered a cocktail called the Honey Lavender Spritz. It was good and refreshing, but a tad sweet. The decor is very interesting and eclectic. In one corner of the space, there is a stripper pole for anyone to use. The art is super cool and funky. I loved the portrait of Dennis Rodman as well as the Dr. Evil portrait with a third eye. They have two single restrooms and neither one had paper towels (but at least they had toilet paper). Bald Kitty can be rented out for events. It is located in a row of event spaces and art studios. It reminded me of a larger version of Space HTX in EaDo. The complex gives an artist collective vibe (think a miniature version of Sawyer Yards). In addition to private events, they host weekly events like Choosy Tuesdays which features "art, cocktails, and conversation" and Kitty Pop which they describe as "an intimate experience for free expression." I took a ride share to the event, but there is a fair amount of parking. My friend was concerned about the tow away signs, but her car was fine. I think as long as you stay in the complex, you won't have any issues.

Bald Kitty is a vibe! Totally different from club culture, the aesthetic is sultry and sexy with the provocative art on the walls and stripper pole (which people did use lol) the martini i ordered hit the spot and the dance floor was lively. Though there is seating it is still not section culture, more so conversation pits like from the 70s which was nice. I defo recommend checking them out and catching a vibe. On the night I went they had 3 different DJs and they do have a cover at the door.

Cool vibe, but you just end up standing in line all night between the bar and the bathroom.

$10 entry. Shots were a little expensive. Plenty of standing room and seats if you can get them. It was cool. Yeah.

They host an array of events and activities (some are free, while others are ticketed). Events and activities include live music, DJs, yoga, Zumba, and seasonal events like Winter Wonderlawn during Christmas and Lunar New Year. There are seven gardens which take up about an acre. There's signs throughout the lawn that explain the different gardens and various spaces. Sky Farm is operated by Blackwood Educational Land Institute and they focus on regenerative agriculture and cultivation of food. The Outpost can be rented for events. Yelp Houston has hosted some events at the Outpost in the past. During the summer, it gets very hot! They have quite a few covered/shaded areas and there's vendors throughout if you need water or a beverage. There's lots of seating too (both covered and uncovered). A visit to Post Houston isn't complete without making the trek up to Skylawn! The views alone are worth it!

The Palladium is located on a one-way freeway frontage road, so you can't make a U-turn to get there if you pass it up. But it's not one to avoid. The Palladium is not a franchise of a nationwide company named after Arthur Murray or Fred Astaire. It's a local concern, and doesn't offer as much as the other two studios I listed. I've gone to their Latin events, and here's what it looks like: They have in-house instructors, and also bring in people from outside Houston. (I wrote about California's Kathy Reyes in two prior reviews, I hope she's reading this and makes the trip to Houston some time!) They have classes, and they have dance parties. Both are run well, charging market rates. Lots of parking. One medium-sized dance floor, two smaller studios. The bar sells drinks, both alky and non-alky. Restrooms are deep in the bowels of the building, down the hall to the left. The people who come are a good company, and are fixinta learn to dance better and to have fun. The social dance community of Houston is smaller than in other cities, so there's much overlap from one instructor to another, and it's likely that you'll meet someone there who you danced with somewhere else. I haven't met any snobs yet, but you can't assume that they won't be there. I first went to the Palladium for New Years Eve. I've been several times since then. The experience was similar to others I've been to in other cities. I've had a good time, and never drove home thinking "well, that was a waste of a hundred mile drive one-way." Beaumont simply has nothing like The Palladium, likely because few people in the Coonie Triangle are interested in ballroom or Latin dancing. I encourage you to find a class or party and stop on by.
