3.5 stars overall, almost a 4... Scoring on the higher end given the excellent service.
This was a hidden surprise, steps from the main underground station of Victoria Station. The restaurant is located inside a Semi-open plaza, second floor. Take the escalator in the center of the plaza to get up. There lies the views! A nice urban gardenscape to view while dining outside of the restaurant.
We noticed many London restaurants do not have air conditioning. Besides that, the garden view and the neighboring buildings created this pretty Oasis of glass and greens, so we dined outside. (Note: this establishment is next to a residential building so no dining Al fresco after 9pm). Luckily, we finished our dinner service by 8:45pm.
Restaurant staff was nice overall. Two hiccups were the bathroom incident (my daughter got locked in her stall). Took a little lock jiggy process to get her out. And as much as I liked the menu, so promising, the food just wasn't up to expectations.
My steak looked amazing and the waitress said I could add a fried egg for extra supplement, no problem, egg was perfectly sunny up and delicious. I ordered my steak medium rare but it came out medium well and was very chewy. Came to the point where I gave up on it. Flavors were there, just the wrong texture. The French Fries (aka chips) were great! There's two versions apparently, what we call in the states regular or wide cut. My dinner came with the wide, meanwhile, the rest of our entrees came with regular.
The other entree error was with the egg whites and fries. They were perfectly accommodating as it's only on the brunch menu - to my defense, that's the menu showcased at the foot of the escalator. Said to join them for brunch, thought it was all day! It was evening though (not morning when I saw this). Anyway, the eggs came out yellow, not whites, and when I asked, the waitress said this is how it's made. That should not be but it is what it is. They were garnished with chives and scrambled soft. Very good, just not what I ordered. My kiddo also ordered a burger, medium, came out well and a bit on the dry side. SMH, the kitchen just makes it the way they want I guess. Don't figure why they bothered to ask.
The drinks here are excellent!! I had two mocktails. First was a Mango cucumber elderflower (lots of cucumber chunks)/ second was a chamomile strawberry. So much flavor in both and I couldn't decide on a clear favorite. Both were refreshing and tasty.
I enjoyed the dining experience overall - service was great (our lovely waitress was very accommodating) and loved the decor inside. They spared no expense on the soap, Molten Brown soap and lotion available in the ladies room. Oh, there was air conditioning but kept low. Still, the view outside was more fun. read more
