Set atop a beautiful building, Aquashard is an experience to have while visiting London. We made our reservation for 7 PM for the scenic dinner. It was a perfect time in April because when we arrived the sun was still out but his night progressed, we were able to watch the sunset over the tower bridge and reflecting onto downtown in London. The views are beautiful, but sligjtly obstructed because of the way that frame of the building is set. Our three course dinner was delicious. My wife's appetizer was the poached crab and the entree the halibut. I had the grilled octopus as an appetizer and the Welch lamb chops for my main. All four dishes were spectacular, well present presented, and delicious. We had a wine pairings, bubbles for the appetizer, my wife had a beautiful Chardonnay from California with her dinner and I had an Italian red. Dessert with also excellent. The apple tart was one of the best desserts we have ever had. The service was good but a little bit disjointed. We had multiple servers and the dinner was not very well coordinated in terms of the pairings and the food, arriving at the same time. In fact, we never got our dessert pairing but by the time we had finished we were too full drink anymore. Spontaneously decided to grab drinks here overlooking London after perusing the bridges on our big tourist day in town, and so happy we did! Great martinis, and we had the perfect little table right up against the window with a fantastic view. There were loads of options for places to eat/drink when we walked into the building but we were recommended this one based on views, and it didn't disappoint. So, I decided to take my fiance here to celebrate our engagement and it, unfortunately, disappointed. Although the view was incredible, the service and food did not match it. First, the food was okay. The set menu items did not wow me and the a la carte menu did not have much flavor. The huge downside was the service. Okay, this gets all the marks for an amazing experience. 30+ floors up in The Shard, amazing views, beautifully decorated Peter Pan themed restaurant at Christmas time and impeccable service! Make sure to allow time to be security screened when you enter the building, take the ride up, up, up and check your coat and shopping bags. Once seated, gorgeous views of London await you. If you are more than a party of 2 you will not be seated against the window. We were a party of 3 and were seat one row back but still a gorgeous view. Dress nice as this is an upscale bar. Tables are small and cozy for afternoon tea or a drink. Does get a tad cramped once all the items come out though. We came for the Peter Pan experience and it was an awesome presentation. From fun colored teas to the beautifully designed treats and the presentation of treats. It was most definitely fun. It's expensive fun though but that seems to be the case for a lot of the themed teas in London. The three of us (parents and teen) enjoyed the experience. The food was good but not as great tasting as other afternoon teas we attended during our trip however, the experience was memorable. Watching that ship smoke and discovering my blue tea when I poured is something I will always remember. The food itself had a number of finger type sandwiches and desserts but the real star of this tea was the scones. They were the most delicious thing. However, I was too full from the sandwiches and desserts to eat much of the scones but if I did it over again I would most definitely make room to eat up all the scones, lol. They come out second so if you're going for the first time save room for those and maybe not eat all the sandwich offerings which are pretty hearty! The gigantic Christmas Tree was so festive and picture worthy. We had a good time. Our waitress was really lovely. In addition to all the sandwiches, desserts, scones and tea, you can order other drinks and coffees which we did. We were extremely full upon leaving so you won't go away hungry. Stunning views! The elevator ride is super quick so be ready for a fast change in elevation! We booked the Peter Pan tea and it was well worth it to have afternoon tea with gorgeous views of London. Was it expensive? Yes, but for us it was a bucket list item and something we were really looking forward to. The tea was delicious and you receive a generous amount of desserts, finger sandwiches and canapés. Last leg of my Europe visit and I was going to fly out of London. My SIL reserved a nice lunch at this restaurant for me and this is my welcome to London moment. If you're looking for such a place to dine and see the sights of the city - this is the best place to be. We were here for lunch last Monday. We were seated right by the window with a view of the city - the side of the London eye. We were presented the menus - there's the regular menus and a set menu. We opted for the 3-course set with white wine. It was 49 + 10 with the wine so I thought that was a good deal. I highlighted both our orders below. My SIL soup with quail eggs was creamy and good, my tartine was also well prepared. The Roasted fillet sea bream was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. This was our first time at the Shard and it took us a minute to figure out where to enter to get to Aqua Shard. So note to others - you enter from the lower street level. Once you walk inside you go thru security and elevator takes you straight up to the restaurant. The views are beautiful. We checked in for our tea reservation and had a drink at the bar. The bar had good service and a fun cocktail menu. We then moved over to a window seat and had the Peter Pan afternoon tea. The experience was a lot of fun. We had a lot of choices for afternoon tea in London but decided on the Aqua Shard for 2 reasons 1) stunning views of London and proximity to Tower Bridge and 2) Peter Pan Theme. My daughter (age 7) actually does not care for afternoon tea menus so we opted for the 3 course lunch for her and my husband and I had the Peter Pan Tea. We loved the unlimited drinks which included tea and lattes (hot and cold) and the presentation of the Peter Pan Boat along with the views of the city were spectacular. We had the most leisurely 2 hours here. Victoria was our server and she was the loveliest. It's a pricey experience, the most expensive meal we had on our Europe trip. My husband and I came here without any reservation, wearing our casual clothes and sneakers, they allowed us in! My first reaction was "Wow"! As soon as you come in you'll be amazed with the glass windows, the layout of the restaurant was really pretty! We were greeted by Erin and she was really pleasant with a great smile. Extremely disappointment regarding the treatment my family and I received during our visit, which was meant to be a special celebration for my daughter's birthday. Given Aqua Shard's reputation as a prestigious restaurant, this experience was both surprising and extremely upsetting. I had made a dinner reservation weeks in advance for 6:00 PM. We arrived slightly early at around 5:45 PM and were informed by the front staff that arriving early would not be an issue. We were seated promptly on the left side near the window, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, from that moment on, everything went downhill. After being seated, not a single staff member came by our table to greet us, explain the menu, offer water, or even acknowledge our presence. Five minutes passed, then ten. During this time, I clearly observed nearby tables being attended to without delay. In fact, a couple who arrived and were seated after us were immediately welcomed and serviced. As time went on, we watched as surrounding tables received bread, champagne, and food, while staff repeatedly walked past our table, looked directly at us, and continued on without saying a word. It was impossible not to notice that we were the only table being completely ignored. This was not due to a lack of staff--there was an abundance of servers actively attending to other guests, from those offering bread to those serving champagne flutes. By 6:10 PM, after more than 20 minutes of being seated with no acknowledgment whatsoever, we had reached our limit. What should have been a joyful birthday dinner had turned into an uncomfortable and embarrassing experience. The situation was made even worse when we approached the front to explain that we were leaving and why. One staff member responded rudely with, "Are you leaving or what?"--a comment that was both dismissive and unprofessional. The woman checking guests in then said, "I'm sorry, but happy birthday to your daughter," which felt hollow given everything that had just occurred. This experience left my daughter disappointed on her birthday and left us feeling disrespected as guests. I expected far better from an establishment of Aqua Shard's caliber. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that no other family has to endure such treatment during what should be a meaningful and celebratory occasion. read more

We were in London for a day, and searching for a place to have tea (as one should do when one is in London). Aqua Shard came recommended and the Peter Pan Tea seems appropriate as I was celebrating a birthday but also refusing to feel into my age. Let me start by saying that the views, atmosphere and service were worth it. Our server (ahoy Captain Jack) was fantastic. The staff checking us is were fantastic. Have I said fantastic enough? Probably not. The tea itself was the best hot tea I had on this run through London and France. The sweets were better than they needed to be. The presentation of the food was phenomenal. If the goal was to delight in a way that made me feel like a kid again ... they succeeded. A note for the gentleman who may be reading this ... the men's room was the single more spectacular men's room I have ever seen. Floor to ceiling views while one conducts one's business. I know ... I can't believe I'm reviewing the bathroom, but it's ASTONISHING. We only had about 10 hours in London on this visit, and I'm genuinely happy that two of them were spent here. For the price point, I was not overly impressed by any of the options that we had and I felt that service was incredibly rushed. We had a reservation for the 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. seating and before 7:15 p.m.,, we already had all of our food out and I felt that the wait was pushing us, rather than letting us take our time. Upon entering the modern building, we had to go through a checkpoint security-not too bad. Once we got in, we had to take an elevator (lift) all the way to 32nd floor. I'll have to say I was very surprised to see this place only rated a 3-star from Yelp. It's rated higher on other platforms, and for good reason. This place is a must-see when visiting the London area. Reservations are strongly recommended. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, from the coat check station to the host station, to the servers, and kitchen staff. We got seated right next to the window with just amazing views. It's a bit dark inside the restaurant and we had to use our phone flashlights in order to see the menus, but this is likely for a reason so that you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the cityscape all lit up at night. Food presentation is like a piece of artwork, crafted to perfection. The Shard dessert is a great example of what I mean. Portion size is a bit on the small side, but I suppose it's right on par with other high class restaurants. This will possibly be the only time I would every include the restrooms in a review, but like seriously the restrooms are just amazing. Everything in the men's room actually faces the outside so you can enjoy the views while conducting your business. Definitely glad to have come here. I would highly recommend this place. read more

I would not recommend for afternoon tea - unless you are taking children because of the Peter Pan theme. The view is great, but the service is subpar so it is distracting from the experience. We had to ask for water, plate change, utensils, tea, teacups, spoons for the jam. Additionally, tea is not poured. You get your pot, pour it yourself and it is not with a strainer over the cup. Staff is running all around but basically invisible if you need anything. If you are adults wanting a relaxing afternoon, I would not recommend the Shard. You will be frustrated trying to flag down a waiter. On the reservation, I checked that we are celebrating a birthday but nothing was mentioned. The hostess was really nice and friendly. They accommodated me without a reservation and I got to do the afternoon tea service on the fly. The food, I don't know how I feel about it. It could be me but the baked pig was not my cup of tea. It was really heavy and also served cold. I do understand that a lot of prep that goes into this, and that things are made beforehand and kept cold right before serving. Went for my wife's birthday. Beautiful location. Beautiful views!. Arrived and they greeted us and acknowledged that it was my wife's birthday. We had a great meal up until the dessert portion. We had the prefix meal, which was outstanding. They brought our two desserts. I ordered a cup of coffee. Asked four different people for sugar. After finally getting sugar, my coffee was cold. We finished our desserts. They seemed to have forgotten It was my wife's birthday and after clearing the table, they brought back a dessert with her happy birthday message on it. Arrived at 8:15pm for our 8:30pm reservation (their instructions said to arrive 15 minutes early) but our table wasn't ready until 9:00pm. You have to go through metal detectors and security screening, so I guess you cannot bring any self defense weapons with you. Food was very small portions, overpriced, and lacking in any good flavor. I had the halibut which was small and tasted alright but nothing special. The bread with butter was fine. The carrots were lukewarm and ok. Overall none of the food stood out. The view is very nice, but I think I would prefer to come during daylight hours instead of late at night. Also the dining room is so poorly lit, I assume it's so you can see the view better, but it was so dark that it was impractical, I couldn't read the menu at all and people bumped into you as they walk by. The view from the bathroom is nice, so bring your phone to the toilets. Overall, it was a nice experience but you're paying a lot for the ambiance with subpar food. read more

Ambiance - Phenomenal! Food - Unremarkable and $$$$$ - don't do it! When you walk up to the Shard building, tell everyone you meet that you have reservations for dinner. When you get off the elevator, go down one flight and then go left, toward the bar and find yourself a seat. There are cocktail tables and a cocktail bites menu - wish I had known that before we ordered our dinner that totally sucked and saved ourselves 200 pounds. Very much worth a visit, just not to eat. Come see the sunset over London. Beautiful views of the Themes and Tower Bridge and enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine. Just remember, in the summer, the sun doesn't set until 9-9:30 so the later the better if you want to see the city lit up at night. read more

The appetizer list was pretty limited. Food takes a while to come out. We ordered the sea bass and a side of mash. Surprisingly, we were filled off the portions. When we arrived to the 31st floor where this is inside The Shard, we were greeted at host stand. We then were brought over to this small table that faced the window. The view was amazing - we could see tower bridge where we were at. Our waitress for the tea was amazing. She was super friendly, fun, and explained the experience very well. The tea was flavorful. I even got a mock tail to start which was very good (not too sweet or sour like most can be). The food was very filling too which was a good lunch. From the beginning the customer service was phenomenal. Even the security people at the front door were very polite & helpful. They offer to take your jacket and hold it at the check in, a detail I love. We paid extra for the window table, it was gorgeous, we loved it. Incredible evening at Aqua Shard. We knew when we booked that we were booking for the view, and we weren't expecting much from the food, but Omg what shocking mistake that was! The panoramic views of London are breathtaking and you can see why this restaurant is so popular with tourists. There were 7 of us so we were able to enjoy a large selection of starters and mains and every dish was star worthy. The staff was totally lovely, from the gentlemen at security to the ladies who welcomed us at reception, the bartenders who made us drinks at the bar and the incredible wait staff who provided us with the most attentive service I've experienced in a long times Our server Alexander went above and beyond for us to ensure we were comfortable and happy and our brilliant sommelier whose name sadly escapes me at this important moment of recognition.
