I've known Jerry for several years and have done business with him contractor to contractor. He always treated customers ethically and fairley. This time I needed some roofing help on my personal residence and he was my first call. He took about two minutes to find the problem and his quote for the repair was reasonable. Repair was scheduled later the same week. Done and done! What a pleasure to deal with an honest professional. Call Bakersfield Roofing today! read more

I have always had this concern with anything that has a really long warranty... Will the company be there to service the warranty or is it all just a big scam. Well, I had a roof done about 9 years ago by a company that does not exist any longer. But that company was bought by Bakersfield Roofing. That roof has a leak, so I contacted the original company, which forwarded me to this one. It was a crazy stormy weekend, which is pretty rare in Bakersfield. I left a message that stated something about how I was surprised they were not working because of the crazy weather (it was a Saturday). They never call me back. So I follow up with them, and this is really what the review is about. When I call them again on Tuesday, the owner actually answers the phone. He tells me that he thinks my comments about working on the weekends is rude and that he is entitled to a vacation. That is how it started. I explain how he bought my warranty, and he says he doesn't think that is how it works. I told him I am sure it is how it works because I have seen lawsuits about it. He keeps making very aggressive comments at me, and when I try to respond (in a nice way, trying to get on the right foot), he cuts me off and says he is not going to argue with me. He did this like 5 times... Makes and inflammatory comment, I begin to respond, and then he cuts me off and says he is not going to argue. Then he started asking me if I did something to the roof, and I said, just go look at it. He finally does, which takes way longer than I would have expected. He did some kind of patch or sealing according to the tenant and is supposed to call me back and explain what is going on. He never does. I call him a week later and he made some excuse about HVAC people needing to seal things anytime they are up there (never heard that one before). Blah blah blah, he kept making weird excuses and speculating on what happened. I just want it fixed so it does not cause damage to my property. Bottom line is that even if his work is good and he is knowledgeable I would never work with a person that is this difficult to communicate with. At this point I think he still thinks he does not owe me any warranty service, so let's hope nothing else happens. Adding this after his response: This is exactly the response I would have expected from Jerry. I don't have a problem ordering or paying for work. I have a problem with vendors that are rude, call me names, and like to start blaming everything else before they even get to the job. You can tell from his response that Jerry doesn't understand that my issue is that he is rude, difficult, and unprofessional. read more

I called for an estimate for re-roof Before my 28 year old roof starts leaking. Jason arrived 2 days later at time promised. He assessed condition, gave me brochure for products they use and provided a fair estimate the next day. Their crew of 4 craftsmen arrived 10 days later completed the entire job (single story home) in only 8 hours spread over 2 days. The crew was very respectful of my property and completely cleaned up the job site. The owner (Jerry) even payed a visit at the end of the job which i thought was a very professional and classy thing to do. The other thing which is impressive is Protec roofing is based in Bakersfield and my home is in the Tehachapi mountains which is about 58 miles away. The roof looks OUTSTANDING ! Thanks Protec roofing. read more

I called Protec Roofing to get free estimate, for water leak on the ceiling. Jason showed up early on time, gave me a courtesy call to see if I can make it. He checked the roof and did not find anything wrong, except a few sliding tiles that he pushed back. So, I much appreciate Jason and Protec. Pros: Showing up on time, honesty, customer service. Cons: None. For roof problem in the future, definitely I will call this company first to get estimate. read more

Based upon Yelp reviews I contacted Protec for some repair work at my home. I left my name and telephone number with a woman whom indicated that I would be contacted to schedule a time for someone to assess my roof repair and provide a quote. I was never contacted. Based upon the strong reviews I gave Protec another try. Again I made a call and was assured that I would be contacted. Following four days of no contact I decided to leave a review. The power of Yelp! Jerry contacted me directly and explained there was a lack of communication and he apologized for the mistake. He then arranged to have my repairs quoted immediately. I am extremely happy with the quote and how thoroughly my repair was assessed. I've amended my review as it's clear that Protec cares about their image and is willing to ensure their customer service is second to none. I'll update the review once the work is complete. read more

I searched high and low for a roofing contractor- for years! I met with about every roofing company in Bakersfield. I found Jerry on Yelp! and found all his 5 star ratings there as well as on his website. Which I loved to see! Jerry's quote was a very fair price. But what really sold my husband and I was his fast response. Whenever I called Jerry he answered his phone and had answers to all my questions. He even came back a second time and talked to both my husband and I again in person. The job started on time- and finished in a reasonable amount of time! We have a BIG roof so I knew it would be a long process. They cleaned up everything every day- stayed late if they needed too. He called me every day with a status update. He took care of everything and made everything right- so I would be completely satisfied. Which included a painter to fix some small touch ups. I would definitely recommend Jerry! Thanks for all your hard work guys! I wish I could post a before and after picture! I love our roof! read more

These people got they s#@# together. I get compliments on how bad ass my roof is. They are not the cheapest; just some of the best . I got a bad install from an AC company out of L.A. They messed up my roof. Protec was the only company I called . They came out and did a good job and got a pass from the county. I don't realty care who you use. But I'm going back to Protec Roofing. read more

We hired Protec to replace our old shake roof with comp. Of all of the home renovations we have had done this was the smoothest, least stressful project we have experienced & our new roof looks amazing! Protec has great correspondence, very fair pricing, always showed up on time, got right to work & stayed working the whole time (no slacking off or dragging out the job), cleaned up the job site each day, were professional & respectful of our property. They started on a Monday and finished that Thursday. Thanks to Protec we now have a good looking, quality roof. 10/10 would recommend Protec to anyone! read more

We had a leak in our kitchen last night. I called Protec Roofing today and Jason was here the same day to inspect the roof. This is the first time I've called the company and I would definitely recommend them. The service was prompt and professional. I have to agree with another review about the honesty. My roof seemed to need only a minor adjustment in the metal sheeting. He fixed it and we were treated more than fairly by a competent professional. Thank you Jason for being an honest businessman. Update: Last nights rainy evening confirmed our leak is fixed!! read more

The recent winter rainstorms have pretty much decimated my old shake shingle roof, resulting in several nasty leaks. Jerry and his crew arrived quickly, assessed the damage, made repairs and gave me some honest options concerning a re-roof. Jerry took the time to give me details on financing the job as well. I thought the roofing estimate provided was more than fair and all work was done quickly and courteously. These guys are gold and I'm more than pleased to recommend Protec for your roofing needs. read more

Great treatment and very helpful & honest. Jerry called me back quickly out of kindness. He doesn't work on the particular issue I have but was nice enough to call me back just to give me the name of someone who does. ( That gentleman is coming out in 2 hrs) Class act! Hard to find people as helpful as Jerry these days. Will recommend him to friends/family. read more

I'm glad I gave Jerry another shot. Not only does he have a great personality but very knowledgeable, as well as puntucal, he gave me answers to all my question. The estimate he gave me was by far the best then any other contractors, even home depot. I'm glad he got his employee situation fixed. I truly recommend Jerry for everyone out there. read more

Jerry, Jason, and the entire Protec crew are the best. They are punctual, friendly, and professional. Their estimate was not the cheapest, but they were willing to work with me, and I felt comfortable with the quality of the work I was going to receive. They've been in the business for a long time and it shows. We had an unusual patch of rain leading up to my job, which put them behind schedule, but they kept in touch with me and let me know what was happening. When they started work, the job was knocked out in three days, even with some adversity. I had a major framing issue with the peak of my roof, and Jerry brought in a contractor he knew to fix the issue in a few hours, at a very reasonable price and we were back on track. The only hold-up ended up being waiting on the inspector, who couldn't keep up with Protec's pace. The following day, my roof was sheeted, and the next day they were done, but 1:00pm. Their flexibility and professionalism was amazing, but the quality of the work is what really stands out. My roof looks great and I'm sure it will last for decades. I can't praise Protec enough. read more

Highly recommend them. Needed to get bids for my bosses, and Jason at Protec was the only one who was able to give me a straight answer, timely bid, and get the job done in the time frame that was needed. Enjoyed working with them. AND... they clean up after themselves... excellent! read more
