I had my patio roof done by these guys and Mike Monclova is a great guy. Mike Pate his Foreman and a subordinate did the job in one day! The work was Par EXCELLENT. They used flashing and a torch to seal ALL the points and flashed my fireplace correctly. I was a construction worker for 8 years while going to USF in San Francisco part time as a student; so I know that Mike and Mike have both been wearing their knee pads for many years and have earned the names CURLY TOES & JAIL SCREAMER!!! GREAT JOB MONCLOVA! I would recommend these guys "anytime to anyone" who wants work done at the right price! 2/25/2020 My roof is still going strong. I am drinking a margarita under it as I write this review! The two people complaining must be competitors and one of them seems to live in COLORADO? Mike works in the Southern California area?? Anyways, consider the reviews and how many of them there are here??? 22 of them and two are bad apples. That means a .09 or 9% unhappy rate of un-approval. That is below 10% for statistical liability; which means HE IS REALLY THAT GOOD!!! Other roofing companies only have around 4 of reviews? That means you can not statistically trend their consistency. We have a home in Pine Mountain Club which needed repairs. Because of the age of the roof and because it was now two layers of shingles, we decided to replace the roof. We generally like to use the local contractors from Frazier Park or Lebec but one did not return call, another had a very high take it or leave it price, and the third was difficult to deal with on a contract. I contacted a couple of roofers in Bakersfield and KCR responded the same day. Mike came up to the house over the weekend (we are weekenders) and gave us a competitive price and a schedule date in early Fall. Mike was very easy to work with and answered all our questions. The KCR crew came up and started on the day that was scheduled. It was apparent that this was a professional crew and not a bunch of pickup guys. They got right to work and had the tearoff done in two days. They were aware that we were concerned with cleanup; used several tarps and other coverings, and went around the yard everyday picking up loose debris everyday. Aside from waiting on the local inspector the job was done with a new roof inside of a week. The crew was efficient and friendly to work with and allowed time for me to paint the brown metal drip edge green to match the house trim. I looked up this company using the State Contractor website when I was having a patio reconstructed. I had been trying for 6 months to get this job done and kept running into non-licensed operators. The owner, Mike referred me to a licensed general contractor to do the rebuild and then Kern County Roofing did the roofing portion of the job. Not only did they do a great job on the patio, we had them inspect and repair our tile roof. Mike educated us about our roof, how to maintain it, when to have it serviced, etc. His crew is friendly, professional, thorough and efficient. The crew leader (also named Mike) walked around the house with me and made sure I was satisfied with the job. We found one spot (hidden under the gutters which wasn't seen prior to starting the job because we hadn't yet removed them!) that needed attention and he got right on it. They left our property thoroughly cleaned up with no debris remaining.The company is upfront on all pricing and there are no "surprises". I wish all companies were as professional, honest, thorough and as easy to work with as Mike with Kern County Roofing Inc. This is the second time we have used them. The first time was to replace a leaking skylight. This last time was to replace the roof after a fire. Both times Mike was very detailed in the information provided, made sure we understood everything, walked us through the process, and even worked with our insurance company on our behalf along with office staff. The thing that impressed me the most throughout was Mike's responsiveness. I have rarely ever worked with contractor who always either answers the phone right away or returns texts, emails and messages promptly. Mike is someone who does. I wasn't always able to discuss issues during the day due to work so sometimes I had to call or text late in the evening. Mike, the owner/operator of KCR was very knowledgeable and helpful to my mother when she had a new roof put on her home in Bear Valley Springs (BVS) near Tehachapi. She was unable to be home during the reroofing so it was up to me to travel to BVS to check on the work both during construction and after completion. The job was completed well within the contracted time frame and they always left the property clean and tidy at the end of each day. The bottom line is, they did an outstanding job! If I want to search for something to complain about it would probably be a $50 disagreement my mother had with Mike over the final cost, but true to form, the problem was resolved to everyone's satisfaction. Over the upcoming months and even years I will endeavor to post an update on the status of the work when it comes to mind but I don't anticipate any problems at this time. I contacted another roofing company based on a relative's recommendation. That roofing company gave me the run around for several weeks--telling me they were going to come out and inspect my roof. I called Kern County Roofing and Michael came out immediately. He did a thorough inspection and showed me what needed to be done and why using both photographs and an actual walk around the house. Once I decided to use his company, he told me it would be a couple of weeks out because of previously scheduled jobs. However, over the weekend, my house started smelling really bad (due to mold). I called Michael on Monday morning at 8:30am. He immediately rearranged the schedule for me and had his guys out by 12:30pm that day tearing off the moldy wood. We only needed to have one or two concrete tiles replaced and the flashing sealed. Another roofer did not even return our call; it appears small jobs are not wanted. However, when I called Michael at Kern County Roofing to tell him about my small project and sent him photos of the roof problems, he replied back by email and gave me a reasonable estimate to do the job. That same day I agreed to his proposal. The next day Richard and a helper came to do the job. Richard was very polite and explained what he did on the roof; they did a roof tune up. It was time to replace our wood shingle roof and I researched three roofing companies (BSW, Superior Roofing & Kern County Roofing). All three came out for a free estimate and did a thorough evaluation. However, I had a good idea from talking to neighbors on my block the price range for a composite roof. We decided to go with Kern County Roofing, the price was fair and I was comfortable with Michael. The project started within a week. The crew came in early on the first day and removed all the wood shingles and cleaned up completely all the debris. They were very clean and professional.
