This family-owned company is such a stand-out that its employees could offer classes in customer…read morerelations! I met the owner several years ago. He measured each room of our law office and quoted a price that, at first, made me think that his math was off - but, no, his estimate was real, far lower than we had paid in the past. Right there, I knew Reliable Carpet Cleaning is a keeper. Their price structure is reasonable with a capital "R." Then, like a dog after a bone, Linda would call every few months to see if we were ready for service. She was always polite. When we needed our carpets cleaned, the fact that she had kept their name active in my memory made it impossible to call anyone else. This an important example for all companies that provide an occasional service to present or potential customers. Invest in good people, train them well, and pay them above prevailing wages. The return on your investment in these people is well worth it. Today, the son of the owner arrived on time, and he is a 26-year-old headed for success in the family business or in any occupation he might choose. He had me show him the rooms to be cleaned, move furniture, office equipment, and did all rooms first except my inner office, "So that you can continue to work at your desk." Now, that is the kind of consideration we seldom see - anywhere in today's America. The job was professionally completed, and my law office carpeting looks as if it was installed yesterday - and "yesterday" was 40 years ago. Finally, may I ask a favor? In addition to practicing law, I am a syndicated legal affairs columnist, writing "You and the Law" for several California newspapers and Kiplinger.com.
