Perfect texture, crispy, great balance of pistachio flavor and not overwhelming with the creme Blueberry Danish - great, texture perfect, I think personally a little bit more blueberry would have made it absolutely perfect to me but still good Avocado egg brioche toast - the toast itself, great texture, crisp. Avocado was fresh, but wow, where was the egg salad. I know it's mixed but there was a sad amount of egg salad IMO. Barely had any egg whites to my disappointment. Taste was good but I think some more eggs mixed in would have been better. Been wanting to try this place for a while. It was just okay for me. They have a wide variety of pastries available. I went with the tres leches, eclair, and a caramel macchiato. The tres leches presentation earns itself a 10, however it was not great. It was like drinking milk soup. It was sooooo watery! Not what I would expect from a tres leches. Unfortunately, that was a complete miss. I would skip it. I also found a small hair on the outside of the cup. Not good. The eclair was okay as well, nothing special. The caramel macchiato was good, but not enough to make me come back. The restaurant itself is nice and big. Plenty of seating space. Service was okay. I would skip this place. I hate to write this review because I was so excited about this spot after hearing that it was opening. I'm going to keep it short. The reasons I'm giving it two stars: the place is cute, the service was good, and the outside view was nice. As for the desserts -- no bueno at all. After purchasing three different items, I decided to try one more, hoping it would be better, but unfortunately, it still wasn't good. The cheesecakes don't really taste like cheesecake; they have more of a mousse-like consistency. The chocolate cake was also dry. The drinks took a long time to come out, and they were just okay. Service is friendly and welcoming. Ambiance is definitely a vibe. Perfect for studying, a first date, or a hangout with friends. I tried the ginger tumeric tea which was perfect for an after dinner tea. It is a good quality tea bag. I also had the sour cherry sorbet which was delicious and not too sweet. The chocolate pastry was not good--stale. I guess it had been sitting out all day so it was hard as a rock. I wish it was more of a cookie and less of a stale pastry. There were plenty of people coming in and out but the place is a decent size so seating was easy to find and noise level was perfect for light conversation or studying. Sundays are my sweet days and I came across this Sugarland establishment, Barkerland Cafe and it definitely had something to address my craving. The ambiance was busy with customers ordering sweets and lounging around in conversations enjoying their treats. They had a plethora of delicious treats to choose from and reasonably priced. I was pretty WOWed by this cafe, when I went. The ambiance was beautiful and there was plenty of seating. They even had patio seating overlooking the little community lake behind. All the staff were super friendly and helpful in explaining items and giving suggestions n recommendations. The desserts and pastries and breads were beautifully presented on shelves and glass cabinets there was a section for ice cream/ gelato . I ended up ordering lunch item, as it was right around noon. Steak n potatoes 4.5/5. While small in quantity, beef was very tender and potatoes were seasoned to perfection. It came with some salad. Breaded chicken 4.5/5. The chicken was nicely coated. Bakerland is a great cafe to catch up with friends in the Sugar Land area! It's a large establishment that's open until midnight or 1am, and it's the perfect hangout spot with plenty of seating. I didn't get to try any of their savory things, however my friends and I split an assortment of sweets and coffees. We got a biscoff cream cup, a pistachio cake slice, a raspberry heart shaped cake, and decaf lattes. Everything was delicious and the best part was that they weren't overly sweet. This $36 "Mediterranean Board" was unacceptable. The cucumbers were shriveled with mold on the ends. The olives, blueberries, and three random strawberries were also old and shriveled. The feta smelled like it was going bad, the cubed cheese looked cheap, and the antipasto skewers had lettuce instead of basil. There was no pita bread, only a few stale saltine crackers. For $36, they could at least provide decent crackers and enough of them to eat the board. I still have no idea what the strawberry jam was supposed to go with. The tiny cream-cheese pastry was bland, the other pastries were dry, and the eggs came out late with no flavor. There was nothing Mediterranean or Turkish about this food. I wasted $80 on the board, two Turkish coffees, and 5 pastries. The staff was nice, which is the only reason I did not send everything back. Nice employees cannot make up for stale, moldy, overpriced food. This place will not last if this is the quality they serve. read more

Absolutely gem in Sugar Land! Their hours are so flexible, so you can go almost any time of day. It's also so cute and classy in there. We went at night, so it was lit up by crystal lamps and was a really great atmosphere. We ordered a bunch of different desserts and some coffee drinks. Some of the desserts I wouldn't get again, but I really loved the pistachio cream cake. We also ordered a couple coffees, and they accidentally delivered them to the wrong table. But the owner was so nice about it and got us our coffees then even gave us complimentary eclairs for the inconvenience! Great food, atmosphere, and staff. bakerland cafe is such a stunning space! super spacious with lots of natural lighting, and the outdoor patio facing the water makes it extra peaceful. the ambiance alone makes it a lovely place to spend time. the menu also has sooo much variety. you can get baked goods, cakes and desserts, sandwiches and salads, gelato, coffee etc. that being said, the pastries were a little underwhelming. they tasted stale and were tough to chew instead of being flaky and buttery like croissants should be. similarly, the cake was more dense and hard instead of soft and spongy. the iced shaken espresso was decent and pretty balanced. the tuna salad was really yummy with generous portions. overall, it's a bit overpriced for the quality, but the atmosphere and lovely service make up for a lot of it! read more

Bakerland is pretty good. I have been twice since they opened and it's an easy place to go. The first time was within a week of their grand opening, which was hectic to say the least. The second time was better in service but the quality in food was ehh.. I got the Avocado Egg Brioche both times and the combination is good but again, the quality on the second time was not great. The pastries look good and I did try the strawberry croissant which wasn't bad. They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating, too many options, and ehh parking but the cost is comparable to other cafes. Their wifi is also pretty good! I recommend the place but definitely beware of parking. read more

Finally! A place near me where I can get a great croissant! BakerLand Cafe is a new addition to the Sugar Land bakery scene that has been sparse and getting a great croissant locally even harder. BakerLand had a soft opening a week or so ago and I bypassed simply because soft openings are meant to get the kinks out and not a fair assessment in my opinion, but I digress. This review is based solely on their bakery offerings, centering mostly on croissants. This has been my own personal campaign, always in search of a bakery with great croissants and BakerLand did not disappoint. Now, there is only one issue I have. The hours. BakerLand is open from 9 am to 10 pm. So, it misses that opportune weekday breakfast crowd. It's disappointing because they are a stones throw from my workplace and grabbing a coffee and croissant on the way would be awesome. I am hoping it changes as they get more established. All in all the atmosphere was very coffee house, but they offer sit down meals for lunch and dinner. I will have to return to give an update. The bakery is very similar to the panaderia, you grab a tray and tongs and set off to pick whatever catches your attention. There were several offerings and they were also putting out more as I walked up. I loaded my tray with two large butter croissants, a pain au chocolate, a mini danish, a cherry pastry and one donut, a well rounded selection. The coffee can be ordered at several self-service screens. I used the self-service to order a cappuccino and see if it was easy and it was, however you can order at the counter as well. For what was chosen, price-wise was very reasonable. They were a little backed up at the coffee counter but not too bad. The cashier did make sure to let me know my order was coming up and it was appreciated. During peak times I can see it bottlenecking. I took all my order to go. The cappuccino was very good and balanced. I would order again. Now for the croissant; I am a firm believer that a plain croissant should taste great and for me it sets off what the rest of the offerings should taste like. The croissant was great, I picked the jumbo one but was pleasantly pleased to find they also offer medium croissants as well. It was flaky and well laminated, a little bit of air but overall all was flaky and buttery and tasted great. I also tried the cherry pastry, I loved the fresh taste, many times you can tell if it sat for a while, this did not. Flaky and tasty not over sweet, the pan au chocolate also was flaky and yummy. All in all I found a new go to place close enough to enjoy on a regular basis and not an occasional journey. I went in on Sunday morning about 20 minutes after opening. Parking can get crowded and I assume when the other businesses are open during the week. Compared to others the pricing was average for what was ordered. I ordered for take out and will have to return for the dine-in. Worth a return to sample the rest. I recommend you try for yourself. read more

Everything looked beautiful and was definitely great for pictures, but the taste just didn't match the presentation. The sweet pastries were probably the best things I tried, but the savory pastries, especially the mini pizzas and spinach feta pastries, were barely edible. A lot of the items also seemed stale. The matcha was really sweet and honestly just tasted like milk with vanilla syrup rather than matcha. The cakes were absolutely delicious, something I've been wanting to have for a long time. The lattes were disappointing. At first, mine came out with just oat milk and the flavor, so they had to add an espresso shot. But all 3 of our drinks were pretty meh, nothing that stands out. The service was also just pure chaos and people telling others what to do loudly in front of customers. Since it is technically the soft opening, I'll try to give this place another chance either once the chaos dies down or after the grand opening. read more

We ate lunch in the area and stopped by the bakery for a sweet treat and see the new bakery. There is plenty of parking and the bakery is spacious with tables inside and outside. The menu has lots of savory and sweet items, A fast, casual place where you can pick your bakery items or order sandwiches, salad or hot items as you go through a queue. Also plenty of beverages to please most people. You pay and you find an open table. All the pastries looked wonderful. We ordered traditional eclairs, but we were disappointed to find the choux filled with diplomat cream ( more like whipped cream instead of a custard pastry filling.). I had a lot of expectations and that was my mistake. The place is beautiful especially the lake view. It's hard to beat dining overlooking the lake. We came for late breakfast. The food tastes good specially the pastries. Service is also good. They have a different system. And that's where the disappointments piled up. They seem to expect customers to be familiar with their system, so no one explained how things work in that restaurant - unless you ask. They just point you to the pastries and the menu on the board. They were very nice though. They don't put plates on your table - we had to ask for it. They didn't tell us that we're supposed to get our utensils in a certain area. The pastries are cold so we asked for them to warm it. They should ask customers if they want it warmed automatically. We're used to other restaurants asking us without being told. It took a long time for the staff to do it and the pastries were still a bit cold. Either the staff didn't know what she's doing or there's something wrong with their machine. The servings are also a bit small for the price. You're actually paying more for the location than the food. For me to come back with my family - they have to improve their service and machinery. The flavor is there, but if I ask for a warmer food - I want it warmed. I also don't want to ask for everything. For the price they're charging, someone should ask if the customer is familiar with their system. We're willing to pay the price if the service and food size are worth it. We're also good tippers. There's another restaurant similar to Bakerland, and we came back a week after we went there - because we're satisfied with their food and service. My family wants to give Bakerland Cafe another chance, but it will take awhile for me to warm up to that idea because of that first experience. read more
