Wow--this is a quick review to match the quickness of the service…read more I stopped by Breads of Fairlawn this morning, just two days before Christmas. Parking was easy, and the door was wide open when I arrived around 9:00 a.m. The line wasn't too long, which was impressive given the timing. As I waited, I noticed one of the many signs stating cash or check only--uh oh. I rummaged through my purse and managed to come up with $8.00. Whew! Just enough for what I was hoping for: a loaf of sourdough. I love sourdough. Mine was a complete failure back when everyone else mastered it during the COVID era. Since my husband is gluten-free, bread has mostly disappeared from our home, and when I do buy it, I usually choose small half-loaves for the freezer. But with Christmas here, I decided to treat myself to a full, good-tasting loaf--and I found exactly that. The sourdough loaf was $7.00, and they offered to slice it at no extra charge. I was also offered samples (which I happily accepted). I tried the Parmesan-crusted onion bread and immediately understood the hype. The crust was chewy, the cheese flavorful, and there was a subtle onion finish--perfect for snacking on the way home without dipping into my new loaf. Once home, I tried the sourdough. The end piece is always my favorite test bite, and it did not disappoint. The shop itself is cozy but efficient, easy to get in and out of, and conveniently located near Route 18. The aroma of fresh bread was divine, and the staff was fun, friendly, and incredibly helpful--even with the steady flow of customers picking up holiday goodies. I also learned they accept Venmo and Zelle, which is great to know for next time. They even offered me a calendar of their daily bread specials, and I noticed that sourdough is one of their regular daily offerings--very good to know. I'm really looking forward to going back.

This place was just what I was looking for in the Akron area…read more Fresh Neapolitan pizza & fresh pastries attached to a coffee/tea shop and even a gelato shop! This is definitely a place to hang out while waiting for medical appointments, enjoy a sweet treat during a warm summer day, or meet friends for a light lunch and coffee. The food was great, the chai tea was a nice mix of spicy and sweet. My pastry was wonderfully balanced on the palate while still retaining a strong chocolate flavor. I saw some people criticizing the service as confusing, I guess that's understandable but I don't agree. When you order your drink, it comes out quickly so they most likely expect you to just wait a minute before grabbing it and your table number before going to sit down. The ladies behind the counter were nice and efficient and clear with directions regarding water and where to get the drinks and food. Like I said, I didn't have any problems with service or its directions. Not to mention they have 3 different kinds of spots to hangout and eat suiting your mood: a patio, a darker "dining room" (pictured below) and a bright gelato spot. Highly recommend! I will absolutely make this my Akron hangout spot.

It could have been better…read more I had been to Café Arnone a few years ago when we first moved to Akron and remembered it fondly, so I suggested it when meeting a friend for coffee last week. When I arrived around 1:00 pm, the café was quiet. There was no one at the counter, so I walked around to find someone and ask where to sit since the space has more of a café feel on one end and a wine-bar feel on the other. I was told to order at the counter and sit anywhere. I sat in the front area to wait for my friend. Once she arrived, we went up to order. I asked about a menu and was pointed to a sign on the counter. Since it was my first visit in a while, I asked the employee what she recommended, and she flipped the sign to a breakfast sandwich called The Sal. I ordered that. I then had to ask about beverages, as none were mentioned. I only wanted water and was directed to a carafe on the counter to serve myself. Our food came out within a few minutes. The presentation was a little disappointing. I chose the vegetable side, which turned out to be two carrot sticks and two celery sticks lying in a small puddle of water. The sandwich looked good, but when I took my first bite, it was overwhelmingly salty. I understand bacon is salty, but this tasted like an excessive amount of salt had been added. After a second bite, I brought it back to the register and asked if it could be replaced, which they did. My disappointment wasn't so much in the mistake, but in the lack of acknowledgment--there was no apology and no follow-up to ask if the replacement was better. The restaurant wasn't busy, and while I'm sure they have many regulars, the lack of greeting when I walked in and the lack of follow-up stood out to me. I did appreciate the wall of ancestors--it was a nice touch--but overall the service felt disengaged. Maybe it was an off day, or perhaps inexperience from a young staff. I may try again in the future, but this visit fell short of expectations.

Terrible, terrible service…read more I went into the store, midday, and was the only customer in the place. I had my infant daughter in her car seat with me. The single employee there was quite rude to me, and seemed very annoyed that I was there. I placed my order, and got very short answers from the employee. Again, it seemed as if this employee was annoyed I was even there. I didn't see the employee was his hands. He didn't wear gloves or use tongs/tissue paper to pick out my items- just bare hands. When it was time to pay, I inserted my card into the machine. The machine must've been acting up, as the transaction was taking a bit longer than normal. The employee said "I CANNOT LET YOU LEAVE UNTIL THE MERCHANT RECEIPT PRINTS." Ok, I understand the importance of receipts. However, those choice of words were a big issue to me. "I cannot let you leave" can be very triggering to some people. Like holding someone hostage... Not great customer service. Once the receipt printed, I asked the employee if the store had any bags (to help carry my two boxes.) The employee quickly said nope, turned around and walked away (maybe into the kitchen) out of my sight. He didn't say thank you or bye or anything. The whole reason I was asking for a bag was bc I had to carry both boxes as well as my daughter in her car seat out the door. It was hard to juggle it and keep the store door open. It would've been nice had the employee offered help- but he quickly disappeared before I could even ask for help. Again, poor customer service. The only reason I even gave it 1 star was for the brownies I purchased. The brownies are really good- although I'm not even sure they make them. Needless to say, I won't be going back. I felt very unwelcome and almost unsafe with the very few words that were actually spoken to me.

I work out this way now and decided to get cupcakes for a special occasion at work. I ordered last minute and the gentleman on the phone was rightfully noncommittal to anything other than his usual flavors. I wanted 3 s'mores but he said he couldn't do that. I was a little disappointed. Anyways, paid over the phone and showed up the next morning. He had made the s'mores. I didn't expect it and it was a nice surprise. My coworkers loved them. Thanks for going above and beyond despite my lack of planning.

The food. The food is very good. We tried three different wing flavors. The house made buffalo, the Thai chili, and the citrus jerk wings. They fell off the bone and were delicious. I would have to say the best wings I've had, these really did stand out, and would say they are worth trying. They are a bit pricier than other places wings, but the flavor is there. What we really came here for was the burger, we've been trying every place that the Akron Beacon Journal did a tournament for to determine our own favorite, without nostalgia influencing our decisions. The burger was fantastic. The meat is seasoned well and the bread was soft and fluffy. The sauce tasted homemade and unique, but didn't take away from the burger. The pickles on it as well are homemade or made from a company nearby, but they're also very good and different than any you get at the store. I will definitely be back. This was very good on a day where we stopped at 3 places and this happened to be the last.

We came in with a few other families and the place was pretty crowded. We all got to sit. The host was kind enough to clear a regular table over a high top table for us. The space was an old fire station. So the inside is unique. There is a bar along the back wall and some larger booths against the walls. We sat in the middle with a good view of the bar. In the summer they seem to have a nice patio with a big garage door. Menu is large with lots of options including brunch on Sundays before 3p. They are known for wings and burgers. There were 3 of us and we all got something different. I got the house buffalo wings and a farmer salad. One got the cheesesteak dip, and one got the smashburger. Both sandwiches were a hit. My Mom loved the cheesesteak. And Kathy loved the burger. My wings were good. I'd definitely get them again. The salad was a mix of spring mix and brined asparagus. It was just ok. They have ciders, beers and even boozy milkshakes. Lots to offer. This place is a definite repeat. Parking is a bit tricky. There is a lot next to the building but not sure that is really the restaurants lot. Parking on the street too. Prices are about average. Our meal was $87 without tip and only 1 of us had an alcoholic beverage. So it can be pricey. I am glad we came here. It was on our list. Good server and good experience all around.
