I know I've already recently reviewed Baja Tacos, but I had to upgrade it to 5 stars after my last visit. I had been craving a tortilla burger and decided to come through the drive thru and get one. Got the combo, because as I said in my previous review, their fries are some of the best in town. The tortilla burger was delicious, with all the toppings stuffed inside but in a way that doesn't make it a messy burger to eat. The green chile was nice and spicy. The best part? These guys toast the outside of the tortilla burger (similar to a Taco Bell crunchwrap) which gives it that added flavor and texture to make it the perfect sandwich. My coworkers often order the tortilla burger at the place we work when they have it on special, and I went back raving to them that this one is better! read more

I am a breakfast burrito with sausage and green junkie. I've been eating these burritos from Baja tacos for more than a decade. On my trip to Santa Fe I can always expect a stop at Bajo taco to be just like the last. The place doesn't look like much but the food is always well prepared the staff friendly and fast. I've tried a few other things on the menu and generally find an equal amount of excitement with them. A creature of habit, the breakfast burrito with sausage and Green has never let me down. And Baja taco prepares the best of them. I picked up a couple today , one for breakfast and one for the way back home tomorrow. read more

This was my third time trying this place. Strike three. I ordered a carnitas burrito. Either they do not know how to make carnitas or they served me shredded brisket. Either way the meat was mushy and soggy, as if just left in its own grease all day. That is great for the locals that have lost their teeth, but disgusting for anyone else. The only flavor was of grease and mush. They did not drain it well, so the soggy grease water ran out of the bland mush bomb's foil wrapping, through the bag, and onto my car's seat. Next time I will drive farther and go to Burritos La Fe or El Chile Torreado where they have comida with flavor and pride. read more

So while this place looks SUPER SKETCHY from the outside, the food was BOMB. My husband and I were looking for a quick lunch to take back to our hotel while we relaxed and this place was just the ticket. The inside is sparsely decorated and there wasn't anyone inside eating. The menu is also pretty basic, but that's okay! We spent I think $14 on two burritos and they were stuffed!!! Baja Tacos is ok. They serve a fast food type of taco. Service is quick, there is a drive-through, the food is just ok. I ordered the 4 fish taco special ($7.25). This was not a great idea. Do NOT get the fish taco special. The fish was a little old and had a stinky fish odor and the flour tortillas were not heated. The chorizo breakfast burrito with green chile ($5) was more edible and tasted much better. However, if you are looking for quality flavor and ingredients, this burrito is not the best you can get in Santa Fe. The meal is quick, it's inexpensive and it didn't make us sick. read more

While visiting Santa Fe drove past this taco joint and decided to give it a try. It seems like Baja Tacos has been around since the 60's or something like that, I always like to support long standing local businesses. You do have to set your expectations though, it's a fast food restaurant that serves tacos and other New Mexican food. I'm from Texas so I'm a bit biased when it comes to Mexican food, but with that being said this place isn't bad. The tacos are hard shell, so not street taco style just a FYI, but another reviewer says you can get soft tortillas which I wish I knew (was not asked at the register). I ordered the fish, shrimp, and carne adovada (pork) as well as some taquitos. The seafood was grilled not fried and honestly needed more seasoning. The carne adovada was good though, shredded pork with some spice. The taquitos were fine, fried nice and crisp but flavors nothing to write home about. The enchiladas seemed like a good deal, they include rice and beans with all of them. While I had higher hopes I didn't necessarily leave dissatisfied. It's fast food, so if that's what you're looking for and you don't want Taco Bell then Baja might hit the spot. read more

Sad to say the Baja that we once knew is no longer. I hear that management/ownership has changed which I will assume is the problem. As everything, prices have gone up. I get that and I am willing to pay, but the quality of this food has gone way down. The ground beef tacos ($2.25 each! an increase of $1) are lacking meat and toppings, the beef taquitos are now $2.25 each! Not worth it. The breakfast burrito and bacon roll have gone down in size and are so inconsistent I just can't support this local spot after years of enjoying their food. This place gave me salmonella poisoning from uncooked chicken it was the only burrito I ate that day so there was no other food that could've caused it I immediately felt sick after like 130 eating the burrito and came home after and started throwing up to the point where I was almost hospitalized. The food was excellent, it seemed fresh and of good quality. The meat was tender and easy to chew. The red chili had lots of flavor with the right amount of spicy. The beans and salsa were very good and everything was served hot. Don't let the building fool you, this restaurant has better food than the fancy places. I had read about this place and locals had reviewed it favorably. Well, to my disappointment it fell short. I ordered a shredded beef and a chicken taco with everything. What I got was a crispy corn taco shell filled with a non-descriptive beef filling lacking flavor and spice. Now the chicken taco was served on the same type of pre-formed taco shell, but better flavor, not exceptional, but better of the two. Recently I had been in another state and tried their tacos. There's were served on two small fresh corn tortillas with the meat piled on top with pico de gallo, cilantro and onions. They also had a condiment table with other sauces and radishes, chopped green onions, etc. Baha Tacos are close to Taco Bell without a catchy phrase. read more

This place is sooooo good. It's your typical hole in the wall place, nestled between a Uhaul rental and a gas station. It's quick, it's affordable, and it tastes delicious. But, I'm actually a bit surprised at all the 5 star reviews here that mentioned how amazing the food was... considering that there are so many incredible options in town. For me the food here is close to 3 stars. However, the staff here is really nice plus the value and speed of service for freshly made food were beyond noteworthy. The eatery has a drive thru, along with more than a couple of parking spaces and maybe 6 outdoor round table sittings with parasol. The majority of the venue's building is reserved for the kitchen. Baja Tacos's food is safe, as in flavor. We ordered the breakfast burrito (chorizo), hard shell fish taco, carne adovada soft taco and pozole. The breakfast burrito is filling and does it's job at just $5. Hubby enjoyed it, we wish it was seared a bit on the griddle. We do prefer another highly reviewed tacos truck on Yelp that is made with what seems like better quality ingredients priced at $7 (Hey, you get what you paid for). The fish taco was fine, nothing to hate nor to rave. The carne adovada was much a better choice and the pork was tasty. The cup of red pozole (it came with no side condiments like lime, radish, etc.) was such a comfort food for me, while not mind blowing, but really hit the spot for the day. For mere $3, it cured my craving for hot soup that haunted me the night before. I think Baja Tacos is an easy spot for some, since the food can be a bit mild, with a menu that leans to please everyone. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I waited in line forever when I pulled up to the ordering station sat there for another 3-5 minutes then someone comes on and says "sorry were closed" when I was there before they closed and was just left sitting at the ordering station. Not the best Mexican style food in town but okay. When ordering be VERY SPECIFIC about what you want and/or do not want! This was the first time I walked into Baja Tacos in a very long time. They recently moved into their new location, so it compelled me to try it once again. I got a Frito pie with a beef taco and some fries. It smelled wonderful once I started unwrapping everything. Upon taking my first bite of all three items, I was rather dissatisfied with it and quite disappointed. The more and more I ate, the worse it tasted. The red chile in the Frito pie tasted like Tex-Mex chile; very unauthentic, and quite "tinny," as if it were poured from a can. The taco was very greasy and bland, and the only thing that seemed to give it flavor was the salsa. The fries were simply terrible. Very bland and flavorless, almost like they were bought in the frozen section of a grocery store. You could sense that the people behind these meals did not take enough care.
