I woke up this morning and did NOT want to cook. My sons had fixed themselves waffles at around nine and when I woke up I chose not to eat breakfast in the hopes of getting some great food for lunch/dinner. By the time the family were all dressed and up it was about one in the afternoon. After searching yelp and other blogs for some affordable yummy food we decided on Baja Taco, which was not only the closest place to us, but had the highest ratings and reviews, too. Instead of going to eat with four kids, I went to pick it up. When I walked in it was a little more crowded than I anticipated, but that was a good sign. I ordered the two enchilada platter for my husband. He also got two chicken tacos and two carnitas tacos with meat only. I got the Burrito Grande with the charbroiled steak and had them add guacamole on it. Two of the boys got the two taco platter, which comes with beans and rice. My oldest boy got a Burrito Original with the charbroiled taco. My other child did not want Mexican food so instead to a Big Mac and fries from McDonald's. I must say that I was soooo impressed with my Burrito Grande, which was less than $6. It was soooo huge. I literally could not finish it. I was halfway through it when I was full, but forced myself to eat more, but could not finish it. Therefore, I have approximately a third of it left for a snack later. The boys' two taco platter was only $1.99. With all the food we ordered the total came out to be $26. For a family of five that was not bad. Everything was delicious and most of the kids had leftovers, which means no cooking for me later on tonight!! I will definitely be back for more. read more

Fool proof system. Order, pay, get a number and pick up your order by NUMBER. We were on our lunch break, and rushed. We had a large order. We picked up our order ( by NUMBER) and left. When we arrived at work we realized they had given us the wrong order. So we called, their response Very Rude! We went back gave back the wrong order. They handed us our order that had been sitting on the counter for about a half an hour. They wouldn't give us fresh food! Can you imagine, we all could have contracted food poisoning! How thrilled I was to see so many 5 star ratings for this place! I eat here whenever I drive down from The Bay to the High Desert to visit my friends and family in Victorville. We all love this place. We even created a nickname for it: "BAAAAAAAH"!!!(For full effect, bleat loudly like a [Mexican?] sheep.) It's a great place to get a quick, cheap lunch. They have a $1.99 taco platter that comes with 2 charbroiled chicken soft tacos, refried beans and rice. It's a good sized portion of freshly-made food; no wonder it's their most popular menu item! As far as I'm concerned, this place is "as good as it gets" for value. So next time you're in the area or on the I-15 N headed up to Vegas from Southern California, ditch the fast food and stop by Baja Taco instead! Your wallet and stomach will thank you for it. Some of the best food in the high desert. Their chicken and beans are so good I don't know what's going on in that kitchen but I like it. So affordable too. I fed my family of 4 for $15 with the family meal. We also used them to cater our sons 5th birthday and we had enough food to feed the neighborhood. Been going to Baja taco since it first opened in Victorville over 20 years ago. I been Apple Valley since we moved here in 2018 Same quality of food. Today we ordered the Grande Carne Asada burrito and Carne Asada tacos. They changed the recipe the burrito has less meat and was over half lettuce tomatoes and onions completely changed the taste same with the taco's very little meat. Hopefully this was a cook mistake. If next time I get this Crap I will go somewhere else. If it about the Price raise the price to keep the same recipe. read more

They've recently added shrimp to the menu! The shrimp taco platter was really really tasty and at $6.99 you'd be hard pressed to find that elsewhere. There was a generous serving of fresh shrimp in each taco and the creamy chipotle sauce was tangy and added just the right amount of flavor. I love Baja Taco. It is a no frills Mexican food restaurant that has amazingly low prices. They offer 4 combos under $2.29 (including a soft drink). While I enjoy their bean and cheese burritos, I have to say that their chicken soft tacos are some of the best I've had anywhere. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. Though I've been there several times, I haven't explored their menu much beyond the extremely cheap items. Obviously you aren't going to get an El Torito or Taco Chon style meal at a place like this, but I have to say I'm regularly impressed with the quality of the food. Driving by Baja taco, my husband and I were weary to stop and go in. The looks of this place are definitely not very attractive, as the only clue that we had was a small sign on the building saying "Baja Taco." Tables only seat 4. Not to mention it was pretty small. I ordered 3 chicken tacos (99 cents/ea.) as the steak tacos are 2$ each. my husband ordered a combo plate (7$). It didn't take long for our order to come out nice and hot. Gosh, they were huge! Regular double tortilla stuffed with meat, and onions and cilantro. I am only giving it three stars because although savory meat and great portions, they severely lacked in some areas. First, SALSA. Let me start off by saying that I know that Mexicans, like me, love good salsa with their tacos. It is so essential that eating a taco without it is just not the same. They had two kinds of salsa, green and red. I tried both and tasted nothing. Just water. No spice or flavor at all. What am I going to do with these dry tacos now?! I drenched them hoping it would help, I almost cried. Such perfectly good tacos ruined by watery salsa. What a shame. Second. Weird atmosphere. I don't know what it was about it, but the place gave me mixed feelings. It was dark and gloomy, the only light in sight was the soda fountain. We will never be back. The worse experience ever! My daughter ordered Carne Asada fries but specifically told them what she did NOT want on it; due to allergies. Even the receipt even stated how she wanted it and they still made it wrong. We took the order to go so we didn't notice until we got home. By that time they were closed and my daughter couldn't eat. Because it had EVERYTHING on them, EVERYTHING she requested to not be added. The very next day we went back with the untouched fries and receipt. But were told we cannot get our money back. We did not want a new order as I am not taking any chances with my daughter's health or with them messing with the food. I asked to speak to a manager and I was told that he (Pepe) cannot gives us a refund but only store credit. All I got was a signature on a receipt and was told not to say anything because "you know!" I have driven past this places a few hundred times, Thousands if you count my trips to Lowes, and never stopped in until just a couple weeks ago. DAMN their food is good! Here is me, throwing away money at Taco Bell and Del Taco when this place was just sitting there, waiting for me! First trip in I ordered three ground beef tacos, my wife got the chicken tacos, and we picked up rice and beans as well. The beans were a bit thin and runny for my personal taste, but very flavorful. The rice was good, but the tacos were outstanding! I could only eat 2 of them, because they were pretty good sized, but oh so good! My bride loved her chicken tacos as well. A week or so later i tried their fish tacos, Holy Jehoshaphat, they were great too! Pico was fresh, They could have been a little more generous with the sauce, but hey, it was wonderful. Meat, beans, cheese is all it really had in it I think. They had onions and cilantro that I added. Meat was ok it everyone is spot on about the beans. Great beans! I asked the girl who was working the counter what kind of taco I should get and she recommended the carnitas. It was well cooked and had a good amount of meat but little flavor. I bought dinner for my husband and I last night and we both had stomach aches after eating the food there. He said his burrito did not smell very enticing. I remembered as I walked in I saw on of the employee spraying something around the door and windowsills. As i continued to walk in it smelled like they had just sprayed the entire place with some sort of bug/rodent spray. Not sure if this was something that was sprayed in the kitchen as well. Maybe they should wait until they are closed to spray that type of stuff. I think that is what my have caused the food to have a distinct smell and possibly what caused our stomach aches. Went in just before 3pm, there were plenty of open tables but every single one of them was dirty, I found the least dirty one and grabbed some napkins, put water on them from the soda dispenser and then cleaned my own table. This makes it twice in the last couple of months that I found the place filthy and also kind of warm inside. I'm not sure what is going on in this place, maybe under staffed and the owner possibly can't afford to keep the ac at a comfortable temperature. The food was kind of bland today, definitely needed some salt. They did increase their prices and expanded the menu, but come on, if you want people to return it needs to be a comfortable and clean environment. read more

The place was packed (always a good sign) and had an A food safety rating. (Ditto!). The cashier was friendly and the lady working in the open kitchen wore gloves. The carnitas platter I ordered came with rice and refried beans, pico de gallo and choice of tortillas. They also had a salsa bar, mild green and red, with onions, cilantro and jalapeños to customize your selection. The pork was tender and crispy around the edges. The sides were good, too. I am giving Baja Taco a 2 star. this is because the price of food is pretty in expensive. My wife & I usually go to Baja Taco & get bean & cheese burritos with steak. Tonight we went to get burritos from Baja taco for dinner, after going to the movies. We got back home my husband tried his burrito & he said it tasted like a bean & cheese burrito. There was barely any steak. So we went back to Baja Taco to try & get a refund. My wife & I went inside back to Baja Taco with the 2 burritos my wife explained calmly to the cashier. "I paid $1.70 for steak in the bean & cheese burrito & there is hardly any steak". My wife said she wanted a refund. This is because the steak was pretty much sprinkled in the burrito; it was like we only got about .25 cents worth of meat. The cashier then said she would have to ask her manager. She turned around & spoke to the cook, who did not speak english- only spanish. And asked if I could just get my money back. The cook then said to her, he could remake the burritos & no refund. I asked the cashier if he could speak for himself & she responded that she had to communicate with him. This is because he did not speak english. Another worker pointed to the sign which said "NO REFUNDS". I said that their no refund policy should be on their receipt. Also I would contact corporate. With Baja Taco, they should not put a sign up stating "NO REFUND". Also it's cash only. It seems a little dirty. With the cleanliness of the business it says "A" rating, I am not sure regarding the "A" rating. if a person is not satisfied with their food, they should be able to get a refund; if the restaurant wants continued business. With being cash only, that sucks. what if you have no cash with you. You then have to go over to their ATM machine which charges you for each transaction. In regards to steak in the burrito, the Baja Taco in Victorville by stater brothers loads the burrito with tons of meat. As for this location, my wife & I will not be going back. read more

The food was good for the price but the reason I gave a one star review is because I asked the girl (who paid more attention to all her makeup than her customer service) to hold the cheese on my rolled tacos. I told her I was allergic to it and she told me "no", the cook wouldn't do it. I asked her if the cheese was premixed in the rolled tacos and she said no. So I told her again hold the cheese and she said ok "but I don't know if he'll do it". Lol omg I'm allergic to cheese and this place said no! I was appalled! I couldn't comprehend how sprinkled cheese on my rolled tacos could be skipped, at my request, because of my allergy. Luckily no cheese was included on my plate but I will NEVER eat here again.
