This is the curdled sour cream on the fries after a majority of it was removed

So disappointed. Orders nacho and carne Asada fries. Asked for the sour cream on the side and fries crispy for our take out. When we got home, 7 minute drive, and opened the fried, the sour cream had curdled on the fries and partially on the nachos. The fries were also undercooked and the carne asada tastes horrible, almost like it was going bad. I'll be going back to my previous spot for sure...

Everything is always great!! Been coming here for years and after finding out that the original baja taco changed to a baja taco plus that's not affiliated, this one is 10 times better! Pepe is just the best! Everyone is friendly, it's always clean, it may be smaller but it's not that bad, it's chill and relaxing/quiet. Their mini salsa bar is delicious and they have so many awesome specials, you cannot beat their taco Tuesday for $1.99!! We got the shrimp and carnitas today and they were so good, really hit the spot! We drive out of our way to go to this one because it's totally worth it!

Montecito Kitchen - Quesabirria 10/10

Montecito Kitchen

While in the High Desert for business with my partner, we stopped into Montecito Kitchen for lunch…read more She was craving Mexican food, which I'm always happy with, but I personally wanted something a little lighter and healthier--ideally a good salad. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical at first. In my experience, salads at Mexican restaurants can sometimes feel like an afterthought: a handful of greens with a few random toppings tossed in. That definitely wasn't the case here. I ordered the Montecito Chicken Salad, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The chicken was served warm (exactly how I like it on a salad) and seasoned perfectly. It wasn't dry or bland like you sometimes get with salad proteins--it was flavorful and clearly prepared with care. The portion size was also generous. Instead of a few tiny pieces scattered around, there was plenty of chicken, making the salad feel like a full and satisfying meal rather than a side dish pretending to be lunch. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. It's the kind of salad that reminds you a simple dish can still be done really well. Another thing that stood out was the service. The older women working there were incredibly kind and welcoming. You could tell they take pride in their work and in the place itself. That kind of genuine hospitality always makes a dining experience better. Music was at a tolerable level and reminded me of my childhood home, my mom played some great music when she cooked, cleaned or just vibed. Sometimes the most unexpected places end up being the best stops. Montecito Kitchen turned a quick lunch break into a really pleasant surprise. Next time I'm back in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to stop in again--there are plenty of other dishes on the menu I'd happily come back to try. Great food, warm service, and a salad that actually delivers. Definitely worth the stop.

The meat in these tacos was outstanding, with not one speck of gristle.. Homemade and better than my homemade. Perfect little diced onions that were sautéed or cooked with the meat so every bite was delicious. Cilantro & onion in the consummé was ideal. Order at the counter but food is served to your table, usually with a little bowl of chips and salsa.

Don't be a sucker, try the octopus! Ruben's Mariscos and Mexican Grill was terrific tonight! We…read moretried the molcajete de mariscos caliente tonight and it was the best we've ever had. Shrimp, fish filet, octopus, abalone, cheese, and cactus, in roasted salsa makes up the molcajete (stone bowl) which came out burbling with a beautiful and that tasty octopus tentacle hanging off the side. If you've never had it, octopus doesn't have a lot of flavor of its own but it takes on the flavor of how it's prepared. In this presentation, soaked up the flavors of the roasted salsa and was so tender with a texture that was the opposite of chewy. I had a couple of happy hour house margaritas and my wife highly recommends the cucumber jalapeño margarita.

My primary order was the Camerones a la Diabla which I order everywhere I go. The Camerones a la Diabla at Ruben's is one of the best I've had. The shrimp were always cooked very well. There wasn't as many shrimp as I've had at some places but it was a fair portion. I also ordered some of their a la cart tacos and they were always tasty. All of my orders were for delivery. The food always arrived fresh. The tacos in particular held up better than most during the delivery process. The packaging for the a la Diabla was not the best as it was a simple plastic clam shell type container. On every one of my orders sauce had spilled out of the container and got all over everything else in the bag. If I could give a suggestion, the best packaging I've seen for a la Diabla was to put the shrimp and sauce in a soup container and the rice in an underfilled clam shell or turtle shell type container. You can pour the shrimp and their sauce into the other container just before eating and it helps everything stay hot, or cold, and prevents the sauce from getting soaked up by the rice before you even open the container. Since I only ordered delivery I can't really comment on the restaurant's ambiance or the in house service.
