While I was waiting for my eldest daughter, I wanted to try Baja Taco. I love Mexican food. Shrimp is my go-to seafood so anything shrimp is good for me. I was the only customer at the time. The lady behind the counter greeted me soon after she saw me. It was my first time here so I had some questions about the menu. I ended up getting the shrimp burrito and two tacos plate with rice and beans. Shrimp burrito had 10 shrimps and great flavors... it was indeed very tasty... wowza! My kind of burrito LOL. As for the tacos, they were okay... beef and chicken were a tad dry. Beans were very moist and yummy. Rice on the other hand was a tad tough... not fluffy enough. They have a salsa bar... their salsas are very authentic in taste and flavor! Btw, they have a 3 feet burrito. Look up! Staff was very nice and friendly. My husband was craving tacos so we stopped in and picked up a few street tacos and a crispy potato taco. The tacos were yummy and the kitchen was very quick to prepare our order and get us back on the road. So disappointed. Orders nacho and carne Asada fries. Asked for the sour cream on the side and fries crispy for our take out. When we got home, 7 minute drive, and opened the fried, the sour cream had curdled on the fries and partially on the nachos. I haven't been here since it first opened yeeeears ago! I've been missing out. Now the food, I ordered the Chicken Taquitos Platter and man were the taquitos delicious! I also got asada tacos and they were great too, but I think the taquitos stole the show. What a great deal! As I said, the food is fresh and delicious. It was a generous portion of YUM! To add to this very special place is the outstanding customer service of the cashier! The receipt says "Jaydin," but I don't know if that's his name. He is so sweet and friendly. He actually smiles and gives consistently great customer service to every customer! I went for taco Tuesday and they had tacos for $1.99. I got a shrimp taco, fish taco and chicken taco. In all honesty, the only one I don't have any complaints about is the chicken taco. The shrimp one only had 3 small shrimp and was slathered in some kind of sauce that completely took away the shrimp flavor. The fish taco had the same issue. The food is good. But not consistent. One time nice full tacos and the next time skimpy tacos. We go a couple times a month but sometimes we are disappointed. Also, the staff sets the phone off the hook. Sometimes they answer and forget to come back to the phone. This can be frustrating. It's happened more than a a couple times. If you don't mind the crowd... The food is good, prices are good but not rock-bottom like they used to be. That does seem to have improved the clientele a little bit. It used to be gross in terms of the kinds of people it attracted who would then go on to leave the place an absolute mess. I mean - what do you expect for a bargain-basement pricing shtick? So my first time here and I wasn't too impressed with the atmosphere and the food. It wasn't a welcoming restaurant and the place felt like I was in the middle of nowhere and it was my only choice of restaurant. It felt like Gordon Ramsey was just going to walk in and shoot an episode of kitchen nightmare. I gave it a benefit of a doubt to try their food and it came to be as equal as the restaurant decor... plain. I wanted to order the shredded beef burrito but they ran out of beef. Unfortunately, yesterday my daughter and I visited on Taco Tuesday and she ordered 2 chicken tacos and I got a potato taco and her chicken taco had maggots in it. When I brought it to the attention of the chef he didn't seem surprised however the cashier was shaken and disgusted. My daughter literally threw up in the parking lot for about 15 minutes and literally cried for about 15 minutes after that, she is traumatized by that experience and I'm quite frankly disappointed in the disregard of the chef. Love this place. We have purchased catering from them for the past two years for 30 person parties. The food is great and the amount they give us is great as well. Unfortunately the second time we purchased for catering, the girl that took our order didn't note a substitution that we requested so the day we picked it up, we were missing some food and had extra of what we didn't order. Im really appreciative though that they were able to correct our order then and there and supplement the original substitution we asked for. So today was a very bad day for Baja Taco. As of right now myself and my family will no longer be supporting this business. The lack of professionalism from the staff when handling a simple refund has turned into something way bigger than it needs to be. My mother-in-law made a simple mistake and called the wrong location to place an order, within a short time frame of 6-8 minutes realizing her error she called the location directly. She was told that there was nothing that can be done, and even went as far as saying the food would just be thrown out with a charge being made to her card. When she asked for the women's name, the employee responded by say "I don't need to give you that information." After being talked down too for the better part of 5 minutes and ultimately no resolution she came back home in tears... This of course is when I decided to get involved and called in. After speaking with Peppe (unsure of spelling) who identified as the manager on duty, I was told it was too late, and nothing can be done. I asked him if it was normal to not give a first name, and speak rudely to guest, his response was I don't know... After trying to get things resolved I was told I would have to speak with the owner, who renamed nameless and no contact information given.. Id just have to call back until I reach him. So I hope the owner reads these reviews! I will be updating this with 24 hours to let anyone who looks for an establishment to eat at to avoid this one completely. It's not about the food, the time taken to prepare, but solely on their responsibility to ensure great guest service within the hospitality industry. With businesses closing down every day permenatly due to COVID-19, one of the biggest things any restaurant or hospitality business can do is step up there game when treating guest with basic respect. You and your staff failed miserably today, and again, I will edit this review based on your response back.
