Food was DELICIOUS! Came out quickly too- I was impressed. I was not impressed, however, by the seating hostess. When we entered, the high school girl was just staring at us. I asked if we could have a table for two and she sat us right in front of the front door. People were coming and going and it was freezing outside- plus, there were plenty of other tables available. We asked if we could be further in away from the door and she walked as quickly as possible to the other side of the restaurant. She set our menus on the table and walked away. This restaurant just opened in April. The interior has been freshly renovated and has like a modern industrial feel. It's very welcoming and very popular with the locals, so being a local myself I had to check it out with my best friend. * There was no wait time for the seating. I chose to eat outside since the weather was nice since it was later in the day. I felt that the seating were a little close together, but otherwise it was fine. The colors of the seats contrasted nicely with the grey of the building. * Service was very friendly and fast, very enjoyable. My waitress actually had a conversation with me, and it wasn't a small-talk conversation. She was genuinely interested in the topic. Loved that the most. * The wait time for food was quick -- about 10 minutes. I ordered the jerk chicken burrito with no veggies, add cheese. It was a good-sized burrito, and they did it perfectly, exactly how I asked for it! It also tasted good, very delicious. The meat was shredded chicken with jerk spices and some peppers, along with the rice and the cheese I added. The rice is a definite MUST! * The owner was present and stopped by my table. He was very friendly and talkative, and told me a little about the history of the building (which just turned 100 years old) and how they fixed it up. * Overall, this restaurant is amazing. Wow! We just yelped "somewhere different" and found this gem! We travel from HS to LR weekly and this will be our go to stop every single time! The atmosphere is bright and pleasant! CLEAN! SOCIAL DISTANCED SEATING! Emani was our sever. Great at what she does! Even though she wore a mask (and correctly, I might add) you could tell she was smiling! The appetizer: pork skins and white queso....I never want chips again! We had the Baja chicken burrito: large portion 2 people could eat off it, maybe three. We also had the Honey chipotle bowl and a Mahi Mahi bowl. The mango salsa was different than I have ever tasted. It wasn't slimy or juicy. It was perfect! Then to top it off we had the brown butter cake with the vanilla bean ice cream! We need that in our lives! The drinks were great as well! The punch was different too! I just can't wait to come back! Our party opted to wait the 40 minutes to eat here and the menu looked great. The host was wonderful, servers were very pleasant and guests were socially seated apart. We opted to walk around the Benton downtown square while we waited. Unfortunately as we waited outside and had a chance to view the open kitchen we witnessed a number of cooks and servers talking and laughing with each other without their masks on. We counted at least 6 in all. Given that two of us have worked in the food industry (my having worked in Restaurant Management as well) it was disheartening to see this. I'm not sure what strategy makes sense to wear the mask in the dining room but not in the kitchen where food and dishes are being handled. Everyone in our group became uncomfortable and we made the decision to cancel our reservation. It was a huge bummer as we made a special trip here for my son's birthday. Our wish is to ensure that our restaurants stay in business during these difficult times which is why we make an effort to support them. My hope is that they take the extra measures to make everyone feel truly safe at all times. read more
