I have tried twice in the past to do it at home I have the custom trays and all. I usually only lasted a few days 2mwith at home as with each application my teeth became more and more sensitive. The dentist said that in office whitening is 10 time worse for pain in cases like mine. My theory is that I would prefer one day of intense pain vs days and days of wearing trays and having pain. I googled teeth whitening and one of the options that came up was Glitz. I read all the info on the sight and decided to make an appointment. I had a cleaning in the 7th so I booked my whitening session for the 11th figured it was best to start with the cleanest teeth possible. Also when I booked my teeth whitening I decided I would try the Hydration Station and booked a combo package. When I arrived the studio was bright an spacious. If I didn't actually walk down stairs I wouldn't have guessed this was a basement of an low rise office building. I was given my waivers to read and sign and whisked into the lounge where I would complete my whitening. The procedure was explained to me and I was told it would be done in 2 15 min sessions so that if I did have any discomfort I could choose not to do session #2. During session one I felt no pain just a slight tingling on my gums which happens with Crest strips or gel in trays. At 15 min we evaluated my progress and I continued with the final session. The lounge chairs are very comfy. There is a TV in the room to watch shows/movies but it was hard to see with the protective eyewear so I just laid back an enjoyed the quiet. I was taken to the room with the Hydration Station and again everything was explained to me. I have NO idea why I wanted to try this as I don't like heat. I don't go into saunas or steam rooms but I was intrigued. I found this to be enjoyable. I think b/c my face was free from the heat and steam I was able to enjoy the benefits. That is generally why I avoid the steam rooms at spas etc as I like to breath freely. At home I don't even enjoy a steamy bathroom I leave the door WIDE open. Anyway my 30 min session was over before a knew it and I felt a lil sad. I even turned up the heat in the last 10 min as I was enjoying it! I was told that depending on my eating and drinking habits my whitening could be redone in 3-6 months. I think I will come every 6 months after my dental cleanings just like I did this time. However I will be back for the Hydration Station before that!

The process is to apply a numbing cream to the face prior to the procedure, I was told this would be on my face for a half hour. It was left on my face for over an hour. By the time the esthetician came back to the room I was in, my eyes were burning, and I had gotten up to find a cloth to wipe out my eyes. During my one hour wait, the lights to my room were turned on and off several times from outside the room. The music was loud rock, not what I would expect at a spa. As for the service itself, Julie asked if I had any specific instructions. I really appreciated this as she knew exactly what I wanted. We discussed brow shape and she showed me the best shape for my face and what to do to achieve the look I want. I've had a few brow waxes that were quite sore and my skin can go red straight after, but Julie was so gentle it was not sore at all.
