I have tried twice in the past to do it at home I have the custom trays and all. I usually only lasted a few days 2mwith at home as with each application my teeth became more and more sensitive. The dentist said that in office whitening is 10 time worse for pain in cases like mine. My theory is that I would prefer one day of intense pain vs days and days of wearing trays and having pain. I googled teeth whitening and one of the options that came up was Glitz. I read all the info on the sight and decided to make an appointment. I had a cleaning in the 7th so I booked my whitening session for the 11th figured it was best to start with the cleanest teeth possible. Also when I booked my teeth whitening I decided I would try the Hydration Station and booked a combo package. When I arrived the studio was bright an spacious. If I didn't actually walk down stairs I wouldn't have guessed this was a basement of an low rise office building. I was given my waivers to read and sign and whisked into the lounge where I would complete my whitening. The procedure was explained to me and I was told it would be done in 2 15 min sessions so that if I did have any discomfort I could choose not to do session #2. During session one I felt no pain just a slight tingling on my gums which happens with Crest strips or gel in trays. At 15 min we evaluated my progress and I continued with the final session. The lounge chairs are very comfy. There is a TV in the room to watch shows/movies but it was hard to see with the protective eyewear so I just laid back an enjoyed the quiet. I was taken to the room with the Hydration Station and again everything was explained to me. I have NO idea why I wanted to try this as I don't like heat. I don't go into saunas or steam rooms but I was intrigued. I found this to be enjoyable. I think b/c my face was free from the heat and steam I was able to enjoy the benefits. That is generally why I avoid the steam rooms at spas etc as I like to breath freely. At home I don't even enjoy a steamy bathroom I leave the door WIDE open. Anyway my 30 min session was over before a knew it and I felt a lil sad. I even turned up the heat in the last 10 min as I was enjoying it! I was told that depending on my eating and drinking habits my whitening could be redone in 3-6 months. I think I will come every 6 months after my dental cleanings just like I did this time. However I will be back for the Hydration Station before that!

I found the front receptionist lovely to deal with, and although I haven't had a treatment here yet, I plan to. She described many of the treatment to me, which include facials, body wraps, massage and sugaring, which is a more "natural," less harsh process of hair removal than waxing. Their herbal mud wrap and the warm oil body wrap sound heavenly and perfect for winter therapy. Their prices are on par, or a little bit less, than some of the other more exclusive spas in the city, but there's only one room, so need to book about a week in advance.

Due to this education, I have also been very particular about who touches my skin and what products I use. To top it all off, I have extremely sensitive skin and allergies, so not just any facial will do! I heard about Koyla through a friend who recommended their Eminence Slimming Wrap before a trip to Mexico. I booked myself in a few days before I left for the wrap and some body sugaring. I showed up early in the morning, not sure what to expect, and slightly afraid as I have my usual place I have been going to for about 10 years now, so this is a big change for me! I was put at ease right away as I was ushered into a very peaceful treatment room with soft music, ambient lighting, and a fish tank. Kamila gave me the best wrap ever. The treatment itself was relaxing and I fell asleep for the majority of it. Unfortunately the sugaring came second after I was all relaxed (my own fault for booking both in the same day) and it was painful, but not as bad as waxing, and I Kamila did an amazing job. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a completely relaxing and truly holistic experience. The treatment not only catered to my physical self, but also my spiritual through the meditative space and calming music and general good energy of Kamila (her sister Patrycja is equally as wonderful!). I was also completely comfortable in this space even though the experience was much more "whole body" than anything else I had been exposed to. But, at the age of 28, I think I have lost all self consciousness and it really did feel like a safe, caring space! I would recommend this place to ANYONE looking for a great spa experience. The atmosphere was lovely, the treatments divine, and the service amazing! They even provided a electrolyte drink and an organic chocolate at the end for one last sweet experience. They often have specials, so if you attend the spa, be sure to sign up for their mailing list.

When I lived in Edmonton in the 90s, I found Hairisma in 1992, and it was the only place I went for the final four years I lived there. Even if I knew I was visiting, I waited to cut my hair until I visited and booked a haircut here. The stylists here are pretty busy because they have a lot of clients so it's good to book in advance and not just walk in. They are excellent at what they do, and I remember them getting my cuts right every single time. Believe it or not, several of the gals I went to in 1992 are still cutting hair here. That's longevity! They also use Aveda products so quality is tops for what they are putting in your hair.
